They need to understand the difference between fun and annoying, not difficult, just annoying. I love this game but the barred doors for every single chest and puzzles like this are so damn frustrating and ruin the fun.
Yeah I did a marathon of every ac game and 100 percented them all and the most annoying thing is the collectibles, they need to be fun to get, not a chore
That is my 2nd AC franchise game i played (first being Origins) and i have to say the things those should define the game are the worst in it... I mean this whole parkour jumping and stealth walking. Without them it would be another random, solid ARPG and to be honest i would prefer it that way... Im not saying i hate this game, but its really annoying in many ways making it "play and forget" sort of game.

I always say that. When things in a game frustrate you, it is in no way fun at all.
My greatest enemy on this wasn't finding out where to aim the beams, but Laila's penchant for jumping to a lower platform rather than jumping up. RAGE.

@@shaunmcclearn6409 I'm sorry! I tried aiming the camera as far up as I could and that helped sometimes, but not always so not sure if there's a good workaround other than to repeatedly try.

@@JustKallisto hint: if you jump to the lower platform then jump off to the ground and you will be teleported back to the final part

I HAD TO GO BACK THREE TIMES. THREE FUCKING TIMES. I hate these anomaly puzzles. They interrupt and ruin the game. I hate them so much. I hope they are listening to the feedback that we hate them. But they are probably laughing their asses off at us raging.

Exactly what I did lol pissed me off so much
I redid it not knowing they rotated and I could have just waited in the same place.
What makes this hard is not the puzzle, but the broken ass climbing mechanics that have not been fixed since AC 2. The character would climb places that you didn’t want to, and would jump into the space whenever you want it to climb.
At this point I call it an Assassin's Creedism and they are their own thing and will never be fixed because it's in all of them and i doudt they will do anything about it.
I noticed some of the things that I classify under assassin's Creedisms in valhalla. Which are completely separate from the traditional bugs and glitches and weird world problems in video games.
AC2 parkour was better than this, at least it gave almost full control over character and allowed to jump in any direction you want. This parkour in Valhalla just strips player of even tiny freedom to do anything
I've had many occasions to compare it unfavourably to Unity, which felt a lot cooler to traverse

they're not mentally hard, but the controls are horrible for this one, she just jumped anywhere, but not where i wanted

i did same thing but this video made me angry... shit like moving the blocks on the wheel in 2:51.. while lookin at wrong block... i hate watching other ppl learn lol
This was a nightmare. The last cylinder climb was so hard, the blocks whip round so fast and clip your feet often. The last block at the top comes round just as you clear it if you time it perfectly, otherwise...death.

The tattoo paper chases can be cheated if you use the ability "Blinding Rush" as you approach them. They don't move, so you can just run up and grab them at their starting points

This is the first time I nearly raged quit a game 😤 Layla kept not jumping on ledge and the end part had to keep going round in circles cause she jumped down instead off up 😅 these are a pain lol
I am literally only here because of the last part (the rotating orange boxes). I could not get the last box and I hate having to look things up, but it was that or about to break my controller.

I feel ya! I nearly rage quit because this stupid heavy ass Layla wouldn't drag herself up fast enough on the very last ledge. I was shouting at my TV and managed to do this after like 20 tries! Fuck this shit, seriously!

If the developers had actually made the climbing and parkour part of the game less buggy, they'd be more enjoyable. The whole running to jump to a ledge only to drop down to the next level bullshit pisses me off.
They made me prefer playing Orlog, and I HATE that too.

I always find it 'interesting' when developers design content that really reminds you of the weaknesses of their own designed systems. The platforming in Valhalla is 'fine' for the most part, and gets you from point A to B in most of the game's content without much issue. But the Animus Anomalies (especially this one) really make you realize how finicky the controls are in this game for any platforming that requires a bit more precision. The amount of times I wanted to make a jump before the platform disappeared, only for the character to 'decide' they needed to hang off the ledge instead (or drop down to a lower platform instead), or just mosey up a platform taking their own sweet time while the 'red blocks' of death are incoming, is just maddening. When I finally cleared the last sequence of this area, I literally had no idea how I made it up 'fast enough' that time compared to all the other times where Layla hit a red block instead.
I swear I have no clue why I'm still doing these lol. I shudder to think what the rest of these are like.
What an exciting an invigorating time. I love when developers make a level so full of pure fun and joy and the movements are so silky smooth. Really nailed this one!

8:51 this part was the absolute worst for me. I kept accidentally jumping onto the platform below and I had to go back up every time. Also she doesn’t always jump when you press x so then that fucks up the timing. They need to fix the parkour in this game it’s so finicky.

I am so glad to see other people are also frustrated by these anomalies. I don’t give a crap about the modern day story line and think it’s actually very stupid. I’m here for assassins creed not some dumb modern day take that’s irrelevant to most of the story. Wish they’d cut it out completely. It ruins the immersion.

6:56 I always love it when guide makers straight up skip parts. Luckily this short skip was easy to figure out but still, kinda defeats the fuckin purpose of making a guide if you're gonna cut out steps of the process yeah?
Yeah, I had to also move a beam down to the semi-circle ledge on the left hand side, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make it back across - the creator kinda skipped over that part. This particular anomaly was a nightmare. After I completed the first anomaly in the game, I decided I was just going to look them up on UA-cam. With glitchy game mechanics, these puzzles are unnecessarily difficult and can be really frustrating - even with a UA-cam video to follow. Following this one, it still took me 30 minutes because Layla refuses to jump or grab onto things. And I almost rage quit.

I was so close to quitting. The hard part is when she is going down instead of climbing. So frustrating. Keep you image far up in order for her to climb not to jump
Thankfully that was the last one for me! Hated these tasks but the little cut scene was pretty cool.

@InFlameBoy You can skip the spiny hazard half of the puzzle by using the two ground projectors to maintain the top cylinder after using the other side to stabilize the bottom half.
The puzzle could have been fun if: The jump commands would be consistent. For PC at least, W + space and Space + W do different things, the timing for every jump needs to be almost flawless, and the order of the blue beams on top of it all matters as well. I only checked youtube for the comments after I did the puzzle myself, to see if others have felt the same pain I did. On the last bit before the end button with the 4 jumps and red lasers, if you press W + Space to jump it throws you down so you have to jump all the way back to try again (3 red laser walls), so then you have to space + w ( in that order for your character to actually jump on the upper ledge), for the second one if you press Space + W it jumps back down, so you have to W + Space, and if you only hold down your W on the 3rd and 4th it just "autoruns up" with no f.... warning and you get deleted by the lasers. This was made by someone who hates his life, for real, so he wants to spread his pain (selfish "basterd"! XD ). At least the commands should be consistent. Muscle memory threw me down so many times on the last bit, cause I kept doing W + space instead of Space + W... SMFH
I found an easier way!
Just forget about the left-hand side altogether. You don't need it at all. Go to the right-hand side and follow the tutorial all the way to the top. When you reach the top, point the beam at the very first pillar you climbed up in the beginning. If you do this, there should be three beams pointing at the pillar now.
The first two beams are no longer needed, so go back down to where they are and point them at the center. By center, I mean the two rotating, see-through pillars-one beam for each pillar. For some reason, these two weak beams that couldn't materialize the first pillar on their own will be able to materialize the rotating pillars by themselves. After you set the center pillars in place, you can climb to the top, totally bypassing the annoying left-hand side.
Please consider making a tutorial. This anomaly was so frustrating!

I actually had fun with the first few of these, but as they went on they got gradually more annoying, usually i attempt it myself before going to UA-cam, but this one was an immediate nope on that front. And to make matters worse when i got to the second half-cylinder thing Laura...or whatever her name is...decided for no apparent reason to jump off the thing instead of up. Then when i got to final cylinder, rather than jump and latch onto it like i wasnted her to do, she walked off the edge instead and i had to redo it all. I know the controls in these games are basically a giant meme but idk in this particular Anomaly it felt cranked up to 11. Thank you for the walkthrough.
Same as the stacking stones, they started off really fun and challenge you in a good way, but in the higher level areas there are a few that just make me want to smash my controller, shoot the TV, murder the developers, and then kill myself.

Like they were kind of relaxing at first (at least for me) but the further you got they just got nore frustrating, i know they were going for realism with these things but sometimes realism does more harm than good in videogames and this instance it was definitely a hindrence.
