Heyo! My hair color routine is usually ever-changing, BUT this is what I've been doing the past few months, so I wanted to share! Arctic Fox is seriously the sweetest company and sent me this 'formula' and three bottles of what I needed when they saw my last Arctic Fox video (in which I was a dummy lol). I also wanted to show you what it looks like on blonde hair since mine is red and comes out a bit different than if you were to bleach it first!
No idea if this is interesting but you guys seem to like my hair dye videos so here ya go!!
Back to fun creative videos next week, hahaha.

The purple is to tone down the crayon orange to a more muted auburn copper color. You need SO LITTLE, it’s to mute the color, not to make it darker.
But the amount that she used gave her that golden copper look, did it not?
it literally did give her the muted look what was the reason..
Jenny Weiner it’s actually pretty interesting, copper permanent colour turns purple whilst processing
Art science 🤨🧐🤓☺️
I thought she said she was hoping for a brighter more vibrant orange (not the one she got, something more...um... theatrical? )
I loved the “faded” color at the beginning too though.
Leanimal same!!!! It’s so beautiful
Your hair after the dye job has so many beautiful tones, lots of golden and warm orange tones, but not red, completely beautiful!
Your so sweet with that discription
"Buttload of cosmic sunshine" shall be my new band name
Man!!I wanted to name my band that
I'd go see that band.
I want in lol
It sounds like the type of band who ends up starting a nerd cult on the Eurovision Bubble.
I also know one called Tactical Nuclear Penguins. But in Italian, because they're Italian
Can you imagine anne shirley finding out that in 110 years people like red hair
RIGHT LMFAO
And spend a lot of time/money to get it, she would be astonished 😂
Omg
Right? Rachel reminds me alot of her....lol
What do you mean? People have been weirdly fascinated by red hair for centuries. Look at the Tudors.
I dye my hair copper! The perfect copper that I've found (I literally searched for months before I found it) is the ION permanent hair color in Medium Copper blonde!
YOU GO GLEN COCO
Hi girly! I know you from the Baerrito fam haha 🥰🥰
L'Oreal Hicolor in sizzling copper is it! Its freaking beautiful, my favorite copper shade
Relatable, my tips of my hair is copper tone due to dying my hair pink then it faded then i dyed it black but now its faded to copper
Thanks! Is the hair underneath bleached? I want to go copper but my hair is a highly bleached pastel pink rn so I'm wary if a lot of shades bc I dont really want my hair to turn out neon orange haha
The living room looks beautiful!
Thank you!!! So much lighter!!
It moves it from art nouveau to deco chic. Same era feel but different aesthetic.
Agreed! I love it! 😍😍😍
The forest green was a pretty color but I love the updated living room!! The room is much brighter now and it still feels so cozy and inviting 😍
Yeah, I preferred the old color actually, it felt warmer and more vintage, the white looks quite modern and pretty much what every modern home decor magazine features nowadays.
As a natural redhead who’s pretty good at spotting bottle gingers, if I do say so myself, you’ve fooled me in the past which is absolutely wonderful. Even though you aren’t naturally part of the red headed subspecies we’re glad to have you.
Something I learned in beauty school that you could try is putting just developer (you can buy 10 volume developer at Sally's Beauty Supply) on your new growth (roots) and letting that sit for 10 minutes. Then rinsing the developer off, blowdrying your hair, and coloring it with your normal hair color. Usually, this is for people with stubborn silver/grey hair that doesn't want to absorb the color. The developer opens up the cuticle and allows the color to be absorbed. Just a tip from a licensed cosmetologist!😉😄If you can avoid the store bought hair dye, your hair will love you for it! 😄Btw you don't want the developer to touch the rest of your hair, only the new growth (roots), so I would use a hair dye brush for that. I know this is VERY involved so no worries if you don't try it lol! Btw, I love your videos, love you, LOVE the end result! 😍Your hair is so beautiful!!! 😍😍😍
that's an old French technique called mordonsage if anyone wants to Google it further!❤
little "pro" tip, then measuring, just like a cocktail start with the cheap stuff first, or the smaller quantities, that way, if you mess up, it's not the whole batch to scoop from. (I know because i mess up a lot)
Yo actual hairstylist here! I've used developer (20 volume) on my roots to 'damage' them slightly and they will take the color better!
Knew there had to be an answer! Thank you!
How long do you leave it on the roots?
why have i never thought of that? I’ve been doing purple over my natural hair color for YEARS and i love the color I get but I always want it to last Forever n my hair is usually p healthy
@@Sam-FesterAdventure sorry totally forgot to reply, about 10 minutes, just enough to slightly damage the hair so it will take the color better
Do you just paint the developer on, let it set and rinse out or paint the colour over the top?
tip: when you mix the direct dye (artic fox, manic panic, etc). swatch it like you do makeup. But instead of your arm use a paper towel. That way you can see the tone. Of course your hair wont come out that exact color because your hair isnt white but it can help to see if how yellow or red etc the mixture is. Then you can add more to the mix before plopping it on your head.
I think Frodo should start a beautube channel. That turn into the camera mouth wide open. PERFECTION
Thank you for making me want to dye my hair again even though I promised myself I wouldn’t go back to red!! Aaah
😂😂❤️❤️
Same
Your hair always looks awesome in every shade of red/ copper!!!!
As a hairstylist, i appreciate your enthusiasm and honesty in your hair experiments. Always available for advice as a former redhead of 20 yrs.
If I'm not bothering you, I want to ask you something. Do you know what ratios we should use to get cinnamon copper and a dark copper?
Heya! May I ask something? I haven't been to the salon in ages so I have a lot of virgi hair growing to my mid section, with the midends to tips a lovely auburn (thanks to a colour depositing dye that I love). Would a permanent hair dye (that has a high lift) work on my whole hair? Or should I lighten my roots first?

I can hear the cries of every grandma as you use a Pyrex bowl for hair dye
Fun fact! A couple of decades ago, Corning sold the Pyrex brand name to another company called World Kitchen. Unfortunately, they changed the formula for the glass, and the new dishes have a reputation for exploding. (Not just breaking or cracking, but actually exploding in the microwave or convection oven.)
So, in short, look for items marked PYREX all in uppercase for the good, original ones! Anything else is new and not nearly as good quality.
Mossfaerie that is a fun and helpful fact! Seems like you were holding that in for a long time waiting for just the right moment to share that spot of knowledge 😂
@@Rose_tinted_heart_eyes Hahah ever since I learned it and I hear PYREX/pyrex I share it 😂😂 It's too good of a fact to hold in!
The dye easily washes out, Granny! It's all good!
When I developed film from my film camera I used a Pyrex measuring cup.
I just did this last night, and I’m SO happy with my results. I started with level 8 strawberry blonde hair that had faded fairly yellow-y. Put this formula on top, and my hair is now my fantasy copper color. I’m so so so happy with it. I’ve been trying forever to get my hair the right color, and this finally did it! I think after a shampoo and once I match my roots it’s going to look a lot more natural.
Rachel, Adore dye makes very beautiful copper shades, no mixing required, and it lasts longer. ☺️
I always look forward to watching your videos. Your personality and creativity just shines through every video.
The room looks so bright and beautiful.
This is the preraphaelite muse look I so aspire to!!!
However reds and coppers make me look like Chucky

Lizzie Siddal is beauty dreams. Watch that Desperate Romantics BBC series if you haven't. Aiden Turner aka Poldark is in it.
Perhaps you only need to find the right tone of red/copper to suit your skintone and sub tone. I can't wear light ginger but here I am, dyeing my hair on a Saturday morning with a weird mix of colors and achieving that pre-raphaelite muse a e s t h e t i c
Mayhaps you would look better in wine/cherry reds, but I wouldn't know without looking :v Anyway, best of luck to your journey. And you can be a pre-raphaelite muse being blonde or brunette too!! Don't give up!! ❤
Ahhh I have the same issue! I want to look like a Waterhouse painting but my pink face can't handle any warmth 😭
I'm stood in my bathroom with dye on my head... And this pops up.
Rachel kindly get out of my head... Please. Thank you.

I watch your hair dye videos because you’re just generally delightful, and seeing you play with dye is fun
I have been binge watching your videos for a week or so, happy to see a new one posted :) your videos just lift my mood no matter the topic, so thank you!
Protip from someone that comes from the UK (aka no air con unless at work): take a cool shower in the morning until you feel like normal temperature, repeat in evening/late afternoon depending.
For OMG IT'S TOO HOT when you get in from outside, run your forearms under a cold tap for a minute or so. Good luck ❤
Also enjoyed the video and the bloopers were excellent 😂 xxx
Although remember our version of air con are called Windows and our definition of too hot is 25 degrees. Lol
Why no air conditioning?
Klutz Productions it doesn't stay hot long enough to warrant getting an air conditioner installed. Or at least it didn't before. Now it's getting way too hot.

@@livelongandprospermary8796 then you shouldn't live there.
You can use a clarifying shampoo and/or baby wipes to clean the dye off the counter. (From personal experience)
Also Mr. Clean magic sponges! They are so amazing for removing dye from any surface. Plus, if you google the name of the actual sponge material (melamine sponges) on amazon, ebay, aliexpress or any site like that you can get them SUPER CHEAP. I got a pack of 50 for under 10 bucks, I got it in January and I'm not even close to using half a pack yet. They really go far. You can also cut them to size for smaller stains so no need to ruin an entire sponge.
@@Mossfaerie oh my lord in heaven you are a god send I just found 100 for like $10 within 30 seconds of searching I dont need 100 but they are in my cart anyways.
Thank You 😂
@@MsCoffeePixie :D No problem!! I was so happy when I found out about that!!!
I’ll be honest, I use straight isopropyl alcohol. Works pretty well
Does regular bleach not work or something?
it honestly turned out so lovely. Love it on you. It looks super natural and absolutely gorge!
Great video! Redken makes the most vibrant color I have ever seen.. there’s a color boost that adds an extra punch as well
*is proud of you for not getting any on the floor*
Yea! You go girl!

Welllllllll.... still proud of you! 😅
Hahaha I was SO CLOSE
Woah just yesterday I was looking for the perfect copper that was semi permanent
I had been using arctic fox for other colors but they didn’t have copper and then this video pops up today 😂😭
I can’t believe how different your living room looks!! It’s absolutely gorgeous, I’m so glad the new color worked out for you!
Frodo and his ANTM moment was what the internet needs. Thank you for another stunning sample of your hilarity and editing prowess!
You should do a walk-through of what you changed👍
The American top model reference killed me. You are so funny and upbeat.
Oooh, your room is looking so much brighter. Good job!
I love how there are streaks of slightly dif red tones. Definitly a more natural lookin dye job. I LOVE IT!!
I like this color combination, because the yellow really makes your hair glow from within.
I'm so glad you made a second video this week. You always make me laugh! Maybe you could do a get ready. Or a little tour of your new living room? It looks lovely
We use purple rain on my sons hair😂❤ he loves purple. But his hair holds onto that dye really well. He is only 4 so its not really damaged
I have purple hair too. I found that dye holds better than reds and other "fun" colors, which is weird, but great for saving money
@@Nicolesid1 the reason could be the blue undertones purple has and blue is the bitcheist them all of the colors to get rid of
it might be that his hair is probably really fine
I’ve never dyed my hair in my life but I still watch and enjoy because I heart you!!!!!!!! 😊💕 any and all videos you put out are always amazeballs!
It looks SO good! You're such a natural beauty. And your living room is so so so so pretty and light and bright and airy ❤
It honestly looks like a true red head color, very natural and bright at the same time
This is wild, I've been watching you for a while and this whole time I thought you were born a redhead. You really nail the natural copper hair color, I can see it takes a lot of work and research to make it happen
Oooh your hair looks so nice!❤️ Living room looks so different and cosy and oh there is so much more light now. 😍
Living room is amazing! Can wait to see how you decorate it for spoopy season!
Never would have guessed your hair was dyed. The red, orange fits you so well and a really lovely color.
Hi! I want to say that I enjoy watching you very much, and am very thankful for your uploads and hard work.
Aww thank you so much!
I love Arctic Fox, and I find the alchemy of hair dye fascinating as I am always entertaining 2-5 colors in my hair at once. This was great!
I’m loving the bumper bangs on you . It looks amazing !!! I love doing that on my hair 🥰. Your videos always make me happy and smile and make me feel so confident in wearing vintage clothing 💕xxxx
I literally live waching you videos and I’m just getting into vintage and I’m so happy that your a UA-cam and so wish I could make vids like urs 💕💕💕
the living room looks amazing! I'm so glad it is something lighter and something you are happier with!
Your living room is looking amazing! Such a huge difference. Also, I love the dye job after, it's more vivid while before it was pretty dull
The living room is looking fantastic Rachel! And your hair is looking gorgeous!
Me: has no interest in dying my hair
Also Me: ooooooooo rachel did a hair dye video!!!!
Tip for when you get hair dye all over your bathroom: usually you can get it off with nail polish remover or acetone. Bleach works for those stubborn spots.
I dyed my hair sapphire blue in my rented apartment recently & ended up with it everywhere. Nail Polish remover saved me when I moved out a month later.
I've thought that your hair has been looking very healthy and the perfect shade of copper, so thank you for sharing the formula. Your living room looks great!
Wow those white walls look amazing!! They add so much brightness and airiness to the room! Would love to see some videos about your decorating process!
Arctic Fox is an awesome company (I love Kristen Leanne) but have you tried overtone? I think they have copper.
Yes this omg they have made my hair the perfect aubergine and my roots dont look like a straight line of growth!
Overtone is more expensive for less product and also Arctic Fox is vegan and cruelty free and we know that 100% . Also they don’t have the shade copper they still make you mix colors to make a custom shade of copper with overtone , so that’s prob why :)
@@sashabeng Makes sense! I've never used either, I've just seen a lot of their ads. I thought Overtone was cf and vegan though. :(
@@alexcasebolt20 It is
The ginger color from overtone totally ruined my hair :( my hair stylist said it might be a good idea to keep my copper between getting my hair done but if you put it on already copper hair it turned green on me. It was AWFUL
I think you are just the bee's knees Rachel!! I love watching your videos! You make my day brighter. Much love💋
Awww thank you my love!!!
@@rachelmaksy I grew up in a hair salon because my mom is a hair color specialist. I have an idea that could help you achieve that vibrant copper red you're looking for. I sent you an IG message. Much love 💋
Your videos crack me up so much! 🤣🤣 I've also been testing methods of finding the perfect copper concoction, and so far my favorite has been mixing Loreal Hicolor in Sizzling copper and Red Fire! My hair is about the same length as yours, and I just mix a bottle of each per directions, then mix those together. It comes out really vibrant firey orange at first, but fades nicely. And it covers the roots!
It's actually nice to see that the Arctic Fox colors can work well and look natural -- adds to the repertoire, as I know they can be very vibrant on white/bleached hair. (I have friends who use it for the blues/purples/ombre looks.) The tweaked copper formula looks brilliant!
And the living room turned out gorgeous, too!
... I'm getting too happy with the exclamation marks. Back to the sewing room I go... ;)
I enjoy your hair dye videos. It's like a science experiment 😁💕 lol
Love this! My daughter has naturally red hair and we love your videos! ❤🧡
Pamela Aldrich tbh she doesn’t even look like a red head and that’s coming from a real REAL red head 😒😐

What does it matter that she’s not a “real” redhead. She’s beautiful. Go whine somewhere else.
Bunny {Ariabella} Hendrix uh dude, 1 not all natural red heads have the same red hair, I’ve met natural red heads who’s hair look almost identical to the color of this chicks hair. 2 take your attitude elsewhere.

Less judgment, more gingers 🧡❤
OOOOOH I love your living room! It's so bright and happy!
Wow that living room 🥰 Love it! And I adore the haircolour ❤
I love your videos!
When I use arctic Fox I let it dry on. And then I add some of the mixture to my regular conditioner to help refresh till the next time I fully dye. If you wash your hair with dish soap and don’t condition before you dye it’ll stick better. Regular shampoo works fine too.
Woah so the mixture doesn’t go bad or chemically react when you mix it with conditioner and keep it in the bottle?! I would love to do that. Do you think it works well that way?
Learning the Harp with Christy-Lyn! So the nice thing about this brand of dye is that it’s basically a deep conditioner with dye in it! It doesn’t need developer or anything, so it won’t react with the conditioner except it’ll dilute it.
You could just put your mix into an empty bottle too and use it that way, but if you do t have enough I feel like just adding it to your regular conditioner helps you not waste it and just refreshes it a little when you wash it.
I do the same! I usually make too much of the mixture anyway, it feels so self care to get that bit of extra oomph with virtually no more effort than it would take to do a leavein conditioner
The living room looks soooo gooooood! So much bigger and brighter♥️
Love love love this new living room! And love these hair dye videos! I’d love a regular series of these :D
Those bangs 😍 The living room looks amazing!
I really like that color! ps where'd you get your head wrap for processing? it's so cute
Where did you get that shower cap or whatever you'd call that cover you put on while the dye was processing? I'm looking for something just like that since my hair is quite thick and heavy and falls down with flimsy elastic caps
I was going to ask the same thing.
Betty Dain has some cute ones that hold lots of hair!
It’s a shower cap from Kitsch she got from a Nyx Face competition swag box
CostumeholicTV company called Kitsch
AH! living room looks so good! heaps brighter, all your odds and ends pop!
Your hair color is beautiful! Love it! Your living room paint job looks great ❤️!
Just a thought..I wonder if using a magenta instead of a purple would help make it brighter? Might be worth a try!
My daughter has ginger hair and we dyed her ends purple and pink for the summer holidays. The purple just darkened her natural colour and the magenta pink really popped! I think Pink may be the answer!
🤔 The purple is there to tone down the color and make it look more natural--to counteract the neon aspect of orange and the yellow...I think using magenta would probably turn the color into pretty much what happened in the last video (ariel-ish red/orange) They also probably use purple bc it has some red in it and wont tone down the color too far (like too much just blue would)
If the desired result is a brighter "copper" (ie yellow orange toned down *just enough* to look natural) then I think using a whole heck of a lot of yellow and just a touch of the other suggested colors is the way to go...if it's too red, then *maybe* try switching the purple out for a light green bc the green wont be adding to the red quantity but will still tone down the color
--A painter who had color theory drilled into her in university (very boring, only recommend if you need to learn it for your career) 😅
@@eviescotia I appreciate this comment!
@@eviescotia I find colour theory fascinating.
I’m a blonde and get really natural looking Auburn results using sunset orange, hot pink and a splash of the purple. The first day it can look a little fake under certain lights but yes the pink warms it up without going too orange
Off to the hairdressers I go! You look gorgeous. And the living room OMG!
Hehehehe
I'm so thrilled you made this! So, I have some greys and my hair's changed a bit as I've aged, so I started box dying my hair a very similar red to your box dye and have been doing so for years. The red fades crazy fast from my grey etc and I was having to dye far too often. I follow the arctic fox gal here on UA-cam and then I saw that you used her color in a previous video. I took it upon myself to go ahead and buy yellow and try to water down the color after I saw what happened with your hair ( because I like a more orange color, only because it is more like my natural hair). It ended up still being pretty much the dark red orange color except for in the back where I guess I got more yellow LOL. I just was speaking to a hairdresser about it and how I was going to try again with even more yellow and try to make sure it was solid all over my head but I have the same problem with my roots that you spoke about, and I'm glad you addressed it! Now I know exactly what I'm going to do and I know to add a little purple of all things, I paint and I didn't think of that at all! My favorite thing so far about this arctic fox dye is that oh my gosh the color has really lasted. I can't believe how vibrant it still is. I'm addicted! Hopefully, thanks to your video, I can get the color right this time and get everything all matchy matchy. I was feeling pretty down about it so this perfect timing, I can't thank you enough! And thanks so much to arctic fox for sending you their color concoction! My only question is how damaging do you feel like it is to do your roots with the box color and then use the arctic fox? The color looks gorgeous on you! Sorry this was so yakky.
Your hair looks so pretty. And I love watching your videos. I think I would watch a video about you doing anything. You are hilarious! I thoroughly enjoy your natural talent to entertain! I always find myself laughing out loud at some point while watching 😂
Omgsh the clip of your dog at the end was the best part of this video lol
Sally's has a new vegan dye line called "Iroiro", and I gave them a try after using only Arctic Fox for years. It was awesome and they have 20-30 colors (brain is failing me on the actual amount). Either way, maybe give them a try? It's suuuuper pigmented.
The living room looks amazing!!! So bright!!!!

That's pretty gross. Forever avoiding Chipotle!
I had no idea that you dye your hair until now! It looks amazing on you, it honestly suits you so well.
I came for the hair dye but I I subscribed for your sense of humor. That was wildly entertaining.
I thought your hair was naturally that colour (I love it 💕)
Hi Rachel, I love your channel! And your sense of humor. I always look forward to your videos. I've never dyed my hair in my 26 years, but in November I'm planning on going red (my hair is light brown, current picture is a wig). I'm wanting to use henna because my hair is a little delicate, and I don't think it can stand the damage of regular hair dye chemicals.
Henna is awesome! It sometimes get a bad rap, but it’s great for virgin hair since it doesn’t damage the hair at all and it doesn’t fade. Just make sure to research the color/brand you want ahead of time (like googling before and after pictures for your current hair color) light brown might go a little more bright/vibrant orange, but you can always add more henna on top to make it darker. I hope you enjoy the change! The first dye is always so exciting!
Maybe I use henna wrong but it dries my hair out so bad. It always feel like hay after I wash it out.
You could go to a professional hairdresser that helps you with the colour
Laura Buchner That’s common! It’s usually recommended to use a deep conditioner after using henna. The dryness usually only lasts a few days as the henna oxidizes, since it doesn’t have any additives in it to add that “faux softness” feelings some dyes have.
Bless this! I went ginger with arctic fox a while ago but it was MUCH redder, because I was just kinda haphazardly mixing a couple shades I'd found. Still liked it but your color is exactly the color I want!
I have medium-dark (level 4-5) brown hair and recently got blonde-ish highlights, probably a level 8... Not a good look for me. I had my hair dyed a very cool-toned dark brown, level 2-3, which did not suit my skin tone whatsoever. I used Sunset Orange diluted with white conditioner to add some warmth back to my hair and was so impressed with the results!
Now that my color is fading back to my natural medium-dark shade and some of those older highlights are peeking through again, I am thinking of doing this "ginger spice" color combination. I love arctic fox dyes because they smell fabulous, they are so conditioning, and the color is not harsh and long-lasting.
Loved your video; your hair is beautiful and you have such a wonderful presence. Thanks for sharing :)
You should try Overtone, they have a copper kit. Its conditioner that deposits color.
If you've never tried it I'd recommend looking into Adore dye. They have like 4 different ginger shades and I used to use a couple to top up when I was dying my hair suuuper copper. Plus they're really cheap.
Living room looks great!! Love it...ps anything you do is awesome! Love your channel
It’s super fab ! I love the low and high lights.
