    what i love about your how to videos is that you actually EXPLAIN when a lot of videos out there that say how to, just do it in complete timelapse showing them drawing with no details about how or what they are doing. you're great!!

    Mark, you consistently amaze me with your tutorials. I think the twenty minute breaks are a great way to demonstrate your polishing phase and give the viewer a sense of just how long and patently you have to proceed to get a picture to look truly great.

    This is the first video I've seen of yours and I love it. I think the combination of real time and time lapse works very well. I am just starting out with pencils and have been doing more smudging but couldn't figure out how to do it cleanly, now I see you don't have to smudge. Thanks for the great instructions.

    I am an artist who has given up more than once for years at a time. A few years ago I discovered your videos and found your voice relaxing. You don't over-explain, and you're very good at getting people to understand what you're doing and why it makes the art better. I appreciate it so much! Thanks for sharing all of this with you. BTW I bought Brody's Ghost a while back - super fun stuff. Nice art and nice of you to share! Thanks for getting me interested in art again!

    For someone who does this type of illustration in real-time, yes there will be lapses in this video. But, for the people who are patient and willing to learn, they know how to appreciate this. Photo Realism I find is tedious but precise.

    Mark, sir you are awesome.. I just started drawing, and I found you. We are almost the exact same age. Lol so I'm getting getting a late start. But I've seen All of your videos . And drawings online every where.. I worked For a Japanese company for 12 years with many good Japanese friends.. I was supposed to go to Japan in 98 but it got canceled at the last 2 months I still want to go. But your vids about what you saw and even the art stuff. And your inspiration video about your Manga comic books, Man I am a HUGE fan in a very short period of time.. You are just a great guy. We do have so much in common., I have never been able to draw a circle without a quarter. Lol.. But, and I know I won't be really good notime soon if ever, lol but I am having sooooo much fun trying.. I have bought what I need and I just love trying.. I started out being so much better than I thought I could be and I attribute that to watching your videos.. You have already made me better. I seem to be OK at drawing hair. At least that's what I can do the best at thus far.. Especially at shading. And light.. Many many thanks to you sir.. Maybe I would of started sooner if I had known I could draw a circle without a quarter anyways.. Lol.. I just stuck to being a musician.. Well now I have the confidence, and have found the way to improving faster, fast enough to give myself some patience.. And if I lose that. We'll sir you have thought of everything. You have a good video for that.. Thanks Mark, and that's my brother's name too. Lol thanks man. Keep the books and the videos coming.

    Hey Mark! could you PLS do a video about: How to draw real face portrait. Like all the shading and blending of the face that makes it look realistic!! Pls if you can make a video about this!!!

    • @8bpencil179
      @8bpencil179 10 років тому +3

      That would be difficult considering portraits take a lot shading and time. Portraits requires more of shading technique and good observations for proportions. I don't think he can cover all the things in one video.

    • @parths8605
      @parths8605 10 років тому +2

      8Bpencil 2 videos? i mean the first one to place all the lines (eyes, lips,hair placement etc.) and the other to shade?

    • @8bpencil179
      @8bpencil179 10 років тому +2

      Parth S maybe 3 videos, first video line placement for proportions, but shading skin and hair are different, that might take 2 more videos.

    This is my first time watching a tutorial by you, you are really great!I love the 20 minute time lapse idea. However I'm a beginner so what I would have liked is if after every time lapse section you quickly go over what you did rather than do the time lapse and move on to the next step without an explanation. Apart from that I really enjoyed your tutorial so thank you.

    I really enjoyed this video, I appreciate how you broke it down step by step, thank you for taking the time to do this video!!! I'm a complete beginner at drawing as well as painting (watercolor), I want to dedicate myself so I can continue to improve. My drawing biggest challenges are: ears, hands and hair. Could you do a step by step on how to draw them from different angles? That would be awesome!!! :.) Thank you and keep up the fantastic work!

    I've only watched your two lip/mouth videos so far and the 20 min. segments of this one was extremely helpful. You forced yourself to give equal coverage to all the steps/phases, this video gave me a greater feel for the actual timing of the process. Please don't take this the wrong way, as a bit of a rambler myself, I am particularly aware of techniques that keep it in check!
    This 2nd tutorial felt more focused. You paused briefly before each time lapse to give an overview of what was to come. It make me look carefully at what you were doing. Though this video was longer than the first, it felt more concise. Five minutes into this tut, I had to pick up my pencil and start emulating your gentle, progressive technique. I've had a shading epiphany tonight. Thank you so very much for sharing your talent.

    i always had the ability to draw growing up. I used to draw on a daily basis all through elementary, middle school, and the first 2 years of high school. when i discovered the vagina, my drawing career ended. now, in my 30s, i want to rediscover drawing and dump the vaginas.

    Thanks.. Some folks just Run through in quick time ; not explaining all of what they're doing. You really take your time. I think those others are just showing how good they draw; which is fine; but they shouldn't make vids saying they're teaching.. You're Great dude!!
