The amount of money you must invest in machinery must be frightening, but you have to have the machines to cover the crops you plant and harvest, the machinery manufactures should have people like you ,involved in their research and development teams for some imput........another great video.
I appreciate your critique of the X-9. First real honest summary of one I have heard. Really though, the bottom line is productivity. Can it stay combining reliably in the crop, doing a great job of separating, longer than the Ideal? Can you get more done in a hard day? This needs to be addressed.
I belive he already said that in previous video. However I think that it's still way too early to talk about reliability. Let's wait for the end of harvest.
Does Mike have an episode where he talks about the farm structure, all the different siblings and farms and how it all works? I'm always intrigued when he's talking about everybody owning their own combines and running them together and stuff. I'm curious how it all works.

I farm in Manitoba and it is interesting that , no matter what your farm size is , we seem to all think a like! I can really associate with your problems and successes on the farm.
If I remember correctly, on the 9880 STS. All rotor changes were performed from the cab. That was about 17 - 18 years ago! Before the STS we had a CTS. The CTS insisted on setting itself on fire in Beans (as did the other CTS that JD sent to help catch up) and the STS simply couldn’t cope with English conditions and destroyed itself. We had no choice but to go to a Lexion!
Actually Mike sounds as though he's pretty happy with the Deere, but like all manufactures, there will be things a customer doesn't like. Over this series of videos the one thing he's said that would make up my mind was the down time of the previous equipment. It will be interesting to see if these new Green equipment will stay up and running... I assumed these are all on lease with so many hours being run and road miles for an operation this large. My experience is with Heavy Equipment and Trucks, not farm only equipment, so I could be wrong. Ya gotta like a guy and take his opinion as pretty much honest that will go to the trouble of taking his shoes off to keep the carpet and floor clean.
He has already said the Deere's have been night and day different when it comes to uptime. At the end of the day, these are small items which will be addressed by Deere (no doubt), but the Ideals were just horrible for uptime.

I really liked this video I’m a John Deere fan I was hoping for no problems but it’s like you say problems with every thing maybe John Deere will see this video
You know Mike, I think the hopper size is because of weight. Ideal has a lighter combine which in turn is built worse. It doesn't matter which brand you have, lots and lots of farmers have issues with cracking rims on duals and blowouts on singles so it would only cause problems to have a bigger hopper. Its probably not an issue on flat fields but on hillier ones it is and we've had this issues with CHN and John Deere
@@J-1410 they have lots of problems with them as well, which is why they sell most of them with tracks. You wont see many farmers with hilly land buy one without tracks. There's a huge amount of friction when they turn with a full hopper. The X91100 has a 460 bushel tank too but they also don't sell many without tracks unless to big farms with flat land. I know this because I farm on a huge farm and it's an issue every year and the rims aren't easy to get when it gets later into harvest
@@googleuser4009 you do realize a full new, big, grain cart weighs more, and is tracked?(2000 bushel models) Class has always had issues with its tracks. Also CNH offers bigger options too.
@@googleuser4009 I'm right across the border in ND. Tracks here are more of a gimmick than actually useful. Its dry and you will have compaction either way, might as well have a halfways decent ride with tires.
Love if you could do a crop change over video Deere versus Ideal combine and accelerator, rotor, cleaning system, shredder, spreader design/performance review once you get more time on the on the x9.
Just redesign and rebuild the chopper lol. That read reminds me of why I don't read that site anymore. "Why would they test a combine in that poor of crop?" "What do you expect, that machine wasn't designed for that poor of a crop". Not everyone has 150 bushel crops.
Mike, your right! For that price, the ladder should be electric, Mother Deere did some cost cutting, and it shows. Do you regret your decision to go with John Deere?
You're gonna need a dedicated 1500w spare AC generator on the system to put any kind of coffee pot in that thing. It SHOULD be an option, imagine having the ability to run a grinder or a plug-in leaf blower directly from the machine! Putting a compressed air port anyplace or running the lines past any place where fires may occur would be unbelievably idiotic. _Dumber than putting a plastic thousand liter fuel tank over the rear bearings_
Just a factory installed standard 2500 watt inverter for $300 bucks would be all that's needed. You aren't going to running full load constantly. I drive truck and that's what we generally all have, and I run the fridge and microwave and various kitchen appliances and cookers and tools and everything else off it. And putting an air line near where a fire could occur means that you have easier access to the air to keep the area blown clean, thus reducing the risk of fire. And I would say that the chances of a fire starting and melting through the air line, and the air leak making the fire worse, is a pretty low probability, and not something I would worry about!
The 110 power they would likely add would be useless for any kinda cooking needs. All automotive ones are 400watt max. Good for charging a laptop or cordless tool or that’s about it.
Mike you are 100% right... the new John deere sound system sucks... let me explain... the old style John deere sound system was good... up until 2020 when the new style came out (7r 8r 8rx 8rt) It could just be the stereo but I've noticed that I'm usually running the stereo around 20-25 just to hear it well... so your not going deaf lol
I know in the 780 you can flip the bottom of the buddy seat up and reach into the top of the fridge. Haven't looked at the x9 yet. Might be easier to grab that drink or buns lol.
The LED lights are either warm or cool. Warm is like old type globes and are dull with a small tinge of yellowish hue wherreas the cool white are bright white light.

Its probably not an issue on flat fields but on hillier ones it is and we've had this issues with CHN and John Deere
Then explain Claas with 500?
@@J-1410 they have lots of problems with them as well, which is why they sell most of them with tracks. You wont see many farmers with hilly land buy one without tracks. There's a huge amount of friction when they turn with a full hopper. The X91100 has a 460 bushel tank too but they also don't sell many without tracks unless to big farms with flat land. I know this because I farm on a huge farm and it's an issue every year and the rims aren't easy to get when it gets later into harvest
@@googleuser4009 you do realize a full new, big, grain cart weighs more, and is tracked?(2000 bushel models)
Class has always had issues with its tracks.
Also CNH offers bigger options too.
@@J-1410 well this is just in our area here in south Saskatchewan, I can't speak for other. Tracks can handle a lot more weight
@@googleuser4009 I'm right across the border in ND. Tracks here are more of a gimmick than actually useful. Its dry and you will have compaction either way, might as well have a halfways decent ride with tires.
Case 9250 thats all you need!!
Thanks for sharing Mike! Maybe I need to get my John Deere dealer friend to watch this 😂
Take your frustration out on the poor ladder mike 😬😃😃🏴
May Wes should make a replacement bottom step assembly to replace the metal removable bottom step on the X9
I agree Mike get all the bang for the buck. The new car stereos suck. Problem is you can't switch them out or add an amp like years ago.
Love if you could do a crop change over video Deere versus Ideal combine and accelerator, rotor, cleaning system, shredder, spreader design/performance review once you get more time on the on the x9.
That song choice is TOP NOTCH!!!! Love it
Thanks for the video Mike, interesting!
Grandpa always said they were broke down when the combine fridge wasn’t working
Somebody on thecombineforum solved the chopper plugging issue on the fendt
So did the Mitchell’s 😎
How
Just read it. Interesting that he is pleased with an ex Mike Ideal.
Just redesign and rebuild the chopper lol.
That read reminds me of why I don't read that site anymore. "Why would they test a combine in that poor of crop?" "What do you expect, that machine wasn't designed for that poor of a crop". Not everyone has 150 bushel crops.
That is for *UMBREALLA*! :D
Mike, your right! For that price, the ladder should be electric, Mother Deere did some cost cutting, and it shows. Do you regret your decision to go with John Deere?
Power ladder like a gleaner
@@richardradawetz8788 Yes sir! Or any other brand! Like Mike said, even the spreader has it!
You should get the old massey out and hire someone to run it with the other combines
I'm pretty sure the inner liner on the trash can is removable.
The S series has a cup holder behind the buddy seat. I use it more than the other cup holder.
Nice critical vid and about that ladder: Not everybody has your age anymore, that ladder is pretty darn steep going down.
If only the Fendt had a rear beater. So much trouble could have been avoided.
Yes if they had of had a rear beater they could of given John Deere a spanking.
As am I! And good to know 😆🤷♂️
Gleaner has a "power ladder" (said in Brian Brown voice)
Since 1973(or whenever the original L came out)
The ladder thing has always bothered me, I agree with the sprayer ladder parking brake thing
Great entertainment thanks
I know in the 780 you can flip the bottom of the buddy seat up and reach into the top of the fridge. Haven't looked at the x9 yet. Might be easier to grab that drink or buns lol.
Watch ivers farms. Dennis has a blaster on his 9250 for the feeder house. Works great
The LED lights are either warm or cool. Warm is like old type globes and are dull with a small tinge of yellowish hue wherreas the cool white are bright white light.
The new holland on tracks almost turned back on its self with a 40ft
New holland has got their combines figured out that's for sure.. now there's probably a few things they could do better on, but they are obviously doing something right.. I live in Southern Alberta and New holland combines have gotten a lot more popular in the Las few years.. Walter farms has Case and New holland now and they say New holland is way better
@@nathanvandebruinhorst9960 My Dad knew Walter good. From waaay back when he split from the Colony.
@@Len_M. that's awesome man!
@@nathanvandebruinhorst9960 I'm not too familiar with combines but aren't the New Hollands and Cases literally the same, albeit one rotary the other axial flow.
Well they are made by the same company but they are different yet.. the New holland performs better than the case, mostly because of the twin roter
If you double click the unload button, it should stop the auger instantly
If there was a 110 outlet it would be funny to see Mike make a whole pizza in the combine while harvesting
He dosent realize how big of an inverter is neede for those....
I agreed the ladder isn’t a great design, lights for step would be nice, and i like the original rotating becon lights! Those ones look so hard to see if they are on
that ladder is fucked lol.. lots of small things that you would think they would have fixed for that kind of money
Double tap your auger switch and it shuts off without the timer.
thanks mike
You are the one that order a green junk combine
i like some of your ideas for the X9
you should be there with the engineer when they design it
The storage box in the corner that you don't know what it is, it is a trash can. A part of it can come out so that way you can empty it.
You should definitely demo the class sometime soon
Makita have a battery powered coffee machine. 3-5 cups on a 5ah battery
our S780s have air ports all the way around
Could not agree with you more on your last comment with expectations.
Would be nice with some more manufactures, that would pay attention to what people want and not what they think people want, and then rip them off on service, while at it.
I totally understand when you say it’s a 800.000 $ combine at this price it should has better sound system and installing a 110 volts inverter , or at least offer them in option in reasonable price , JD probably think it’s still 70 years old pappy who still farm and drive combine and listen to AM radio .
I remember when I was 8 in 1976 the first time I driven a combine it was a BIZON I don’t remember the model the header was about 10-12 feets wide and the hoper is very small , I was going up to the end of the field and coming back and had to empty it because I wasn’t going to end of it , and I had to put all my weight on the clutch pedal ….
