I bought the new 2024 GMC Canyon Denali after having 3 Toyota Tacoma over the years, and absolutely hands down the GMC has more to offer. So far I really enjoy driving the canyon.

If not towing often no point in the 2.7 gmc. Ford is quicker. Give up 4 mpg for nothing. Ford problems with quality is number 0. Poor. Ranger ?? Who knows.

And the GMC is fine for having a manual window at that price ? No side rails ? Bed liner ? Not saying the GMC is bad in that many ways but it's true that the Ranger is faster, lighter, can fit a sheet of plywood between the wheel wells, if the only thing to complain about is a manual key than I sure as shit don't see any real complaints, just spoiled attitudes.
The Ranger is the only one that can fit a sheet of plywood between the wheel wells. Thats a big deal functionally. Its roughly 500lbs lighter and is essentially every bit as fast. It could have done with more masculine styling but oh well.
@Tiovergudo The steps and push start are options to be added. The styling is subjective, albeit the Chev does look much more aggressive. The push start makes the vehicle easier to steal with the tech devices being used nowadays, so I really don't count that as a disadvantage personally.
Just bought a 24 Canyon Elevation for my daughter. I bought my son a new 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport for 31.5k back in the day and its been fantastic with 135k miles currently. A similarly equipped 24 Tacoma was going to be around 47k. I just couldn't step up to that figure. Time will tell if I made the right call. I hope the performance/reliability matches the looks.
GMC is actually the clear winner here. I think ill go Maverick for now as it meets my needs (and budget!) But probably trade in after 5 years for a Canyon once the 2.7l has a longer run to iron out any bugs

Canyon and Colorado look way nicer, but I still think I'd prefer the Ranger. I think I liked the previous generation Rangers front end better, but maybe I just have to get used to the new one.
They’re both good looking trucks. However I’d rather wait for the 2.7L V6 Rangers to drop. Should be more reliable than that 2.7 turbo 4 in the Colorado/Canyon.
Amazing how GMC twins are the only ones in the midsize class to have rear seat hvac vents. WTF - all are 4 door cab configs!? Not a fan of the separated headlights/daytime lights on the GMC, though the interior is much nicer on the GMC. Also don’t understand the lack of 4A mode on the Ford other than the Raptor.
Canyon definitely wins this match up. No push button start is a nonstarter for me. Match up the AT4X AEV edition to the Raptor and you have a competition.
love my '24 at4, and nothing is more infuriating than going for a test drive and it had 0 range and fuel light is on... thanks I can drive around the parking lot.
I would choose the Nissan Frontier because no turbo - and Fully Loaded is cheaper than XLT mid range. Comparable power from a NA V6 9 speed Auto. ( not as quick as either but close ) Some will say Nissan quality is below both - but I would say Ford and GMC quality is down to Nissan level.
As far as appearances I think the canyon is easily the best looking mid size truck. I know looks are subjective. Just my opinion but it's really up to what matters to the individual.

The Canyon AT4 is a much more aggressive looking truck at same price point as Ranger XLT FX4. Interior looks nicer too. 430 lb ft vs 310... My budget is $50k OTD. I don't know what to do. Just the exterior of a GM is superior, and then you look at the interior and GM is on another level. These new Rangers are some of the ugliest things I’ve seen🤷♂️ The Maverick is a better looking truck then the Ranger 🤣 Also, unless you are getting the Raptor Ranger, the V6 has the exact same power as GMs 4 banger and if you opt for the fords 4 banger you are significantly underpowered.🤷♂️ Atleast the Canyon no matter what trim you choose you get the high output engine👌
You do know that the 2.3 engine is a proven power plant and is the fastest midsized truck in the segment right ? The bigger engines are far above anything the competitors have.
I genuinely hate GM for a lot of reasons but this truck has really knocked it out of the park. Ford absolutely missed the mark on this one and wasn’t even close. I think Toyota comes somewhat close but GM is just so far ahead of everyone in this segment it’s not even funny
Bit too exaggerated there chief, over selling it when it's not the best in the segment considering the Ford has the overall better stats, this is still the base engine after all. It won't even be close once the 2.7 gets to play.
Ranger doesn't have a 4 wheel auto...that's a big fail for me. The same fail for the rear vents 😑. The ranger raptor is the onky amazing amd worthy one of the trim line up but yeah the price is ridiculous and ford's quality control normally doesn't reflect the price. So yeah the ranger is a no for me. 😢 Chevy zr2 and GMC at4x it is, for me that is.
What! No rear air vents for rear passengers in the Ranger, that's a big no no for me. I'll be getting that AT4X ,Ford seem to be going the cheaper route with their vehicles now, and quality is non existent with Ford 👎
Well it's 2k cheaper, not really surprising that it doesn't have as many things packed in, and reliability is the last thing you should talk about when mentioning GMC, Ford is pretty decent overall, unless you can prove this Ranger has been having quality issues.
Canyon looks better, in my opinion... but I'm still going Ranger, it's just a reliability thing. The GMC product is still so buggy. Ford is using much more proven hardware. It is what it is.
GM 2.7 is a no brainer. Ford 2.3 is way less powerful. I don’t want a 2.7 V6 with two turbos either and that engine still makes less torque than the GM 2.7.
🤢. Its a boring design no flow to it. Just a giant screen. The instrument on the gmc lets you use the full screen for maps which is cool and push start on the canyon

I traded in my 23 Canyon AT4 for 24 Ranger Lariat FX4, Ranger is far better truck in my opinion.

I would prefer the Ford, but the Canyon has ventilates seats available and backseat HVAC vents. No doing without that.

2K more for the GMC but comes standard with a 2.7 engine and has a better gauge cluster with a tachometer

Yup a regular V6 is better than a turbo and the pro 4X used is pretty cheap still with low miles
But that Frontier interior is so outdated. The screen resolution is grainy as well.

Regarding style, I'd choose the Canyon. It looks great next to the soft, dainty appearance of the Ranger.
