- This Photoshop tutorial teaches you how to create a galaxy portrait effect. We'll be using the Filter Gallery, adjustment layers and free nebula images. There's many ways to create this effect using the Threshold filter, but most images will not work. So I figured I'd change it up and create this effect using the filter gallery

I NEED HELP. When i go to Filter / Filter Gallery / Sketch / Torn Edges It Goes White Not Black ??
Make sure your foreground is black and background is white, let me know if that works for you. :)

I've tried this with multiple images and when I go from desaturate to the torn edges, my facial features totally disappear
It's best to use high quality photos with this effect, But before using the torn edges option, I recommend increasing the shadows and highlights. You can do this by using levels. After that, using the torn edges filter should be able to distinguish your image better. Let me know if this works for you. :)

bro listen.. first i use photoshop cs6 registered then i made it extended with 3d option now it became in trail version. i uninstalled and install it again but still showing trail version ..now please help me how to remove extension or remove trail..

I'm not the best with these things, But I recommend uninstalling all Photoshop related content. Creative cloud and everything. Use CCleaner or another registry cleaner to clean up anything left behind. Then try reinstalling everything. I hope this helps you. :)

Very good tutorial indeed! Only 1 question though.... How could I make it so the nebula is visible on the white sections of my photo instead of the black ones? :)

The Lord of Anime u should not use the same values from the filter galery, choose then acording to your photo
If you use a different image, you may have to slightly alter some of the settings to match your image. But it shall work for you. :)

For me when i use torn edge it makes the picture fully white
what if I don't have a beard?
Lol, well you don't need a beard for this tutorial. But I used this image because the nebula images showed much better with a beard. Or darker areas. :)

i've the same issue but i've a black foreground (the man after desaturate) and a white background (solid color) and i've the man in white with torn edges filter... an idea?
