Thanks for your comment! Apparently there was a technical glitch and the last half hour of the video didn't upload. Working on fixing it--will put a link to the full video in the description once it's ready. Check back tomorrow.
Thanks for watching to the end! Here's a link to the last 30 minutes. ua-cam.com/video/J_MxjzCMKp0/v-deo.html The stream died where the first video cut out, so about 2 minutes were lost in the transition.
Just started the video. Looking for Rousseau Gambit or Schultze-Mueller (which reminds me a bit of the Halloween Gambit). Crossing fingers ... 27:40 If you go to Norway, you can go to Hell and back. 1:05:40 I was screaming, "TAKE THE ROOK! TAKE THE ROOK!" :)
@@小胖-q8v Well, darn! THAT'S why the one reminded me of the other! Context is important--the last time I saw the Halloween discussed, it was ... Halloween. Edit: Just looked it up on Wikipedia. Also called the Leipzig gambit, because the Leipzig chess club members notoriously used it to good (probably monetary) effect. Someone's currently playing the SM gambit against me, I didn't recognize it, and when I looked it up, it only called it Schultze-Mueller.
@@josepherhardt164 huh apparently Müller and Schulze aren't names of any chess players. Some obscure chess openings sure can have weird names. Like the Frankenstein Dracula variation in the Vienna. Maybe it's also not named after any chess players?
I assume the rook/queen fork. That hangs the knight. White plays the same move it did in the game with check only the knight is adjacent and undefended in that line. #Tactics.
1:44 At first I thought Eric said “speakers… my girlfriend’s speakers” and I got excited.
Really love these deep dives into opening like you did with the English. Very instructive as English main
i like how good moves just appear out of thin air for these players

42:00 Zarkhatsov had played that exact same game up till move 11 less than a year prior lol
we will never know why autoqueening was on the analysis board

I'll use that next time I play otb...
The English is fine, but what about the Welsh?! How about some Evans gambit? Loving your work Eric!
Ah yes my family gambit I always like to see it played
Always going to be inferior 😉
@@lukecain756 nothing inferior here

That knight in the 5th round game 42:30, LOL. The most useless piece I've ever seen.
