I knew that our medications for this awful illness were much better today but I never realised we could bring someone back from full blown aids and back to HIV undetectable... That is really incredible how far we have come fighting this. Thank you for sharing your story your videos have been very educational for me.
I have severe ocd. It affects every single aspect of my life. Because of you, I am no longer afraid of germs or "catching something," and I'm very close to using public bathrooms again. Thank you! You've made my life so much better. Education is so important. You're amazing because I'd still be living in complete fear had I not found you. ❤
I have ocd too and have a fear of blood borne pathogens but watching all of your videos has calmed me down. Another reason being im a nurse so I worry excessively! I love watching your videos Jen ! Before even seeing the word HIV would trigger me.
Just found your channel , I’m a senior in High-school & aspiring to become a doctor and specialize in HIV / AIDS treatment. I watched the movie Gia when I was around 10 ( I know way too young to be seeing that movie lol ) it’s about a supermodel who died of aids. It stuck with me throughout my life since I’ve seen it, I felt touched & angry & wanting to do something. It has always upset me. I always get so emotional when the topic of HIV / AIDS comes up. Thankyou for posting these videos, and sharing your story & being so open to answering questions. I’m sending you love & light. 🦋♥️
We are privileged that you answer all these questions. Your under no obligation to share any of your personal info with any one but you do and for that everyone should be thankful. I love educating others on things I find out from you whenever I hear someone making false comments in any way about hiv/aids. One massive bit of information I got from you was the fact that when your on meds you cant spread it! I think most people dont know that either which is crazy xx
U=U baby! Undetectable equals Untransmittable. It is amazing, thank you for absorbing, retaining and sharing the info. It’s a massive step forward for HIV stigma. I’m very proud to associate myself with the science. It’s awesome! Thanks for the support. ☺️👍🏻❤️
You have no idea of the of the courage and bravery you have in you. I just saw your first video, on your other channel, it’s 4:15am in LA and I can’t sleep, I was reading the news about the awesome milestone cure of hiv of a second person this week, and I was really hyped by the news, so I started doing a bit of research and also, wanted to see the symptoms... idk, but the moment I knew about this infection I feared of it, I do all the time. Your video where you explain your hiv story made me understand some things I had no idea, such as life expectancy and no detection after a good treatment... you do an incredible work for many, many many but woman, you be proud of yourself because it takes, like I said, great courage and more to do things like this. I wish you the very best, to your kids and your guy. I hope you can read this, know that I admire you and respect you. Thank you for sharing but more than that, thank you for educating, and walking us through this awful journey many people have to face when they hear those 3 letters. God bless you and you rock girl!
This is simply amazing how the medicine can stop the replication of the virus. If only the same can be done with cancer. That seems to be the ultimate thing to cure now. I'm glad you're doing great!
Your over forty? No way you look in your late thirties!! I watch your videos and I’m completely amazed by you, *you’re strong and so fierce* ..You’ve been through more than your average person, yet here you are still *smiling* 😁.. that is STRENGTH!! I look up to you and I hope I can have the same strength as you one day 🥰🥰
I know Im always commenting on your videos. But I enjoy them so much! So informative and I love all the subjects you cover. I followed you before you started posting on Chris Watts. I really had zero interest in the Chris Watts case, but after you started posting on it, I really got into it! Keep up the great work. I feel like you are my friend, even though we dont know each other! haha! Thank you so much!
Your videos are great. Plus it's a bonus that you're as attractive as you are. Excellent attitude combined with a beautiful smile and positive information.... keep it up.
Hey Jennifer. As much as I respect your view on not looking like the type to have HIV, I personally believe society could accomplish so much more regarding HIV awareness if we focused on spreading the fact that literally anyone can get infected, just like we've been accomplishing a lot with the u =u campaign. Also, statistics vary from country to country, and I'm positive lots of people might still (mis)interpret these statistics and end up believing they're not at all at risk for HIV. Of course, this is just my opinion. Thank you for sharing this video!
Hi there! I just read today that there has been a second HIV patient to be cured of the disease recently. This is awesome news! I don't know how to link or share things on here lol and i'm sure you heard this but it's exciting
Through a marrow transplant. I might be wrong but I think you have a better chance of living a long full life with hiv than you do if surviving that procedure. Also the marrow transplant was a treatment for cancer that the patient had and just so happens it also cured him of hiv.
Haha, I JUST posted about this before scrolling through the comments. I asked Jennifer if she’d ever like to make a video that may discuss such cases as well as her thoughts on the future of HIV research. I’d be interested in her view points because she gives such great information regarding various areas related to HIV.
Peter Fryer You are 100% right. The Berlin Patient patient suffered from two potentially life-threatening conditions-graft-versus-host and leukoencephalopathy-as a result of the transplant. Other patients who may also have been functionally cured also suffered from graft-versus-host disease. What is interesting about such cases is how it may help research, particularly because of the CCR5 mutation that may be what cured the Berlin Patient and the London Patient. What is also interesting is the other six patients did not all have a transplant with this mutation. It’s possible their cures (if they even exist) are from the dangerous graft-versus-host events they suffered. Certainly, not a good way to be functionally cured when HAART makes HIV a very manageable condition now. Nevertheless, maybe researchers will learn more about why HAART still can’t quite clear the virus in people taking it, and maybe something down the road actually can.
Ok I was just watching the Ultimate Warrior videos at 330 in the morning and one of your videos was recommended to me, what the hell rigjtl????? I LOVE you and thank you for sharing. Maybe it's the shrooms but I just want to hug you and never let go!!!!!! I wish nothing but happiness and time for you. P.S it's taken me like 30 minutes to write this and I wish you lived I Canada so you could focus all your energy to getting better. Really I'm high as fuck right now and you're a beautiful person
To those who've tested negative but had swollen lymph nodes before. Please answer my question. Just answer it please I'm depressed. What the swollen lymph nodes looked like? Did they protrude on your skin? Or they weren't visible so you had to inspect manually with your fingers and pressed a bit on your neck so you can feel it? I have two small lumps on the right and left neck. These two aren't visible. I have no trouble swelling food, drinking water or turning my neck to any side. To feel these lumps, I need to bow my head a bit and press my neck. They are small and movable.
Lindawati Ningrum there is usually more than one that is swollen lymph node usually swell when theres an infection present but if you push on them and there is no tenderness or pain then theres a bigger concern since it could possibly be lymphoma. I would express this to a doctor and get tested

Hey I have a friend who recently got diagnosed, her cd4 count is 825 and she didn’t get any symptoms......she went for a random checkup and was positive for hiv and all the ppl she has had sexual contact with are negative although she is yet to recieve a viral load result.......what stage of the virus will she be at
Incredible videos, but I wish you would at least advocate or have a header disclaimer for younger people that they should always "try" to have safe sex. While meds make this a breeze these days, People still need to be careful.
I was wondering what your thoughts are about this London Patient who was announced in the news this week. He’s being regarded as the second patient (after the Berlin Patient, Timothy Ray Brown from a decade ago) to appear to be cured of HIV due to a stem cell transplant that has a CCR5 delta-32 mutation. (Researchers still do not know if these are “sterilizing cures” or “functional cures”.) Of course, such transplants are very risky, and they only had them because of later cancer diagnoses completely unrelated to HIV infection. Researchers claim that understanding such successes can help with further research for all who have the virus. Obviously, HAART is fantastic in modern day, but it’d be interesting to know what you think about these cases and the future of HIV research in general. Would you ever be interested in making a video about this topic? I love your channel, and the education you provide for so many who may not understand much about HIV and AIDS is wonderful.
Jennifer Vaughan Very true, and I think a lot of people don’t realize that. They may just see the articles and not know bone marrow transplants are risky and not applicable for anyone who doesn’t also have a different condition that needs that as treatment. Perhaps researchers will learn more about realistic treatments down the road through the findings in these rare transplant cases. Your channel provides so much important information that educates many, so that’s cool you may be able to make a video about these topics in the future.

No, blips are inconsequential when it comes to transmission and women rarely transmit as it is. He didn’t get it when my viral load was 507,000 and he was exposed to me for a year. HIV doesn’t go through intact skin. It’s a weak virus, there has to be a tear in the skin. 👍🏻☺️

lunabird89 3 months is enough
if ur negative then u good
No re-test needed here.
@@lunabird89 Absolutely. Three months is 100% sure, no doubt. That's for older and new tests. The information you got is incorrect, who told you this?
El Muro '79 called up a local doctor and they told me that . So I got a 4th gen test at 7 months and was negative . Hope it is accurate.
@@kngkrmson2179 no its not correct because it take to much time to show up in test i tested at 4 months but its negative i have many hiv symptoms
i thought she got it from a black guy or a bisexual.
Black guy?? So hiv dont infect white guys?
