Tyson Hesse and the team did a great job There’s some really good attention to detail in some of the movements for sonic, a lot of references people may have missed as well. This just feels more Sonic
A possible explanation for the “electricity” is that whenever sonic goes that fast he’s likely breaking the sound barrier, creating a sonic boom (no pun intended) which releases a huge amount of energy in the real world (it’s likely just residual energy during the scene when he’s standing still)
I feel like the only one who actually likes the blue arms. I'm not a Sonic Boom fan, but, I did always find it weird that his arms weren't blue like his legs. He's, like, the only character in the Sonic cast whose arm and leg color aren't the same.

He looks great now! And I'm honestly glad they didn't include his uni-eye. That was always the weird part of Sonic's official design to me. It's slightly more excusable for his toon-y form than it would be for realistic CGI, which would make him some sort of weird Cyclops-looking thing. So, in a way, this redesign is BETTER for me than the original, even!
*my guess for why you still see Sonic effecting electricity on the new trailer, was because in the original script Sonic has electric powers and they couldn't go back and redo the story with actors redoing scenes all over, but only redo the CGI of Sonic*
