His low notes are like black onyx getting melted down... what a mysterious man and voice.

He was the topdog of musical voices. I had the honour of following masterclasses of him. How grateful I am
I like German words more but his deep voice in his native language... I'm melting it's wonderful.

at audiesgirl: Steve Barton made the promo versions and everybody was totally sure about beeing him on Broadway. But as you know, the original director of the show is not really "welcomed" in the us and so the composer and an assistant director worked out the preproduction of Vampires.. For minimising the financial risk they´ve put a bigname on castlist. this bigname with some "attitudes" rewrote the script and well, yes, the show was ruined from the very beginning. a very bad musical sin :-/

Was ich mich immer gefragt habe, ist, ob er mit "original" jetzt meint, dass er sich nach etwas "spannenden oder besonderem" sehnt oder ob "original" in dem Sinne von "ursprünglicher Sünde" gemeint ist, weil er einfach nicht versteht, was er getan haben könnte, um dieses trostlose Schicksal zu verdienen.

I usually like the german original better, but "Gott ist tot" (original sin) is a way better song in the english Version. I like the lyrics more that in german

I got a bit confused, when it became "Total Eclipse of the heart" for some time within the song.

@@Oscar_Wednesday Jim Steinman wrote the original lyrics and music for this musical - most melodies/lyrics have been used before from various artists (Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler etc...)

Is there a cd of this? I've been looking and I can only find Crawford in English. Nothing against Crawford...but he didn't touch Barton in Dance of the Vampires. A cd of Barton in English would be perfect :)

Fun fact, Steve was originally going to play Frollo in the Original 1999 Berlin stage production of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame(titled Der Glockner Von Notre Dame).
Unfortunately, he suffered a leg injury and sadly lost his life soon after before the show could open, so they premiered with Steve’s stand in Norbert Lamala taking over as Frollo.

yeah, they should have just done the original german version.....and they took out the "God is dead and yet we live on" line.

Vampires are humans whose sins condemn them to eternity on earth in the netherworld outside of God's grace. To them, He is indeed dead for they can no longer feel His presence. Their Hell is to be tormented by carnal appetites they can never satisfy. They hunt those who have not yet fallen from Grace in a futile quest to feel alive. In the later confessional Die Unstillbare, Krolack reflects on his fallen condition. At the end, the vampires warn they will get you, too, if you reject God.

Barton died on July 21, 2001 in Bremen, Germany at the age of 47. His death was determined to be a suicide.
He died 2001. I think it was a heard attack or something like that.
