    Amendment 2 of the 18th edition is the brown book and page numbers here, reference this book.
    There are some small changes between the Amendments and we cover the relevant ones here.

    Excellent video, as ever!
    I’m curious how the zones would be measured in an L-shaped bathroom with a shower/bath at one end? I guess the 2.5m would go diagonally to the corner, and then follow along the edge of the wall? I’ve seen an example where following the wall would allow a socket 2.5m from the shower but if the 2.5m can pass directly through the wall (shortest path, regardless of obstacle) the distance would be less than 2.5m. I guess the former would be more correct, not least because in this circumstance a socket would be totally out of sight/inaccessible from the shower because it is around a corner….

      Think of it this way. Everywhere a 0.6m piece of string can reach and still be in contact with the bathtub is zone 2.
      And everywhere a 2.5m string can reach and still touch the bath is the outside zone area.
      The string can go round corners, round partitions, anywhere you want. As long as it maintains contact with the bath. So you could end up with a funny looking shape for the zones as you suggest.
      Hope this helps, we have a video on shower zones coming up soon and it is covered in that.

    Excellent content as usual.
    Got a question re low voltage SElV 'circuits' .. if a shaver socket is supplied by 240v . But is in zone two. And is ipx4. Is it allowed ? Even though just behind it is 240v? Not all switches and sockets are fitted well to the wall and look like water could get behind..

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  Рік тому

      If it is the BS EN 61558 then yes. It is 240V in and 240V out, but the output is electrically separated. Its not SELV, its SLV.

    Hi, thank you for the videos they are really helpful. I am training to become a qualify electrician and they have been helping me throughout. I have one question most of your videos are giving page numbers on the blue book. If you can make a vid with the latest number page that will be very helpful ( Like the most important pages) Thank you again

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  Рік тому +1

      If it has a blue book on the starting slide for the video, it relates to the blue book.
      If it has a brown book on the video then page numbers are for the brown book.
      Go to LearnElectrics.com and put Amendment 2 into the search box and you will get a list of links direct to the Brown book, including questions and answers for the exam. Good luck. Dave.

    Light switches in a bathroom are OK as long as they are 0.6m from zone 1?

      Ceiling pull switches or SELV

      Take a look at On Site Guide, Table 8.1, p104. If appropriate IP rating for the zone, then yes.

      Does it have a bath or a shower? That is the only question. No bath, no shower, then the zones do not apply. Hope this helps, Dave.
