- Need for Speed Carbon.. the game that a lot of fans of the NFS franchise regard as the last true nfs street racing experience from the EA Blackbox era. Carbon got the "night feeling" on spot, i prefer Carbon's night setting over underground cause it feels more mysterious and creepy
Ye Man i remember as a kid being creeped out by the atmosphere car sounds when the music is turned off,and having Mini heart attacks when something happened while no-clipping out of the map because It was genuiely creepy

Nfs carbon is a game that's full of mysterious things, even the development was full of things that never saw the greenlight
i agree, but i also hadded NFS World shading and it just got so good
And the terrible lighting of the cars is Soo, it's like without it it's not carbon, is like nfsmw without it's yellow world
Yessss the first game that basically made me realize how cool cars are.

Definitely, when my family bought our PS2 Slim it had NFS Carbon and Pro Street, with Gran Turismo among other games. Never did Gran Turismo nor Pro Street make me appreciate cars as much as Carbon did.

This is one of the most interesting racing games. Shame EA became greedy bastards and no longer produce masterpieces like these.
Unfortunately nfs heat wasn't that great to begin with, it's just another copy of the same thing from the previous titles
Black Box were the producers, ea just had the rights of the game
I honestly liked payback but only because of off-road, nothing else,

Blackbox's NFS games are all amazing. They were all groundbreaking at their time. And titles like Carbon and Prostreet still hold up to today's graphics. Absolute legends.

Heat together with the 2015 reboot was easily the best Need For Speed since Pro Street, but EA are greedy bastards and closed Ghost Games because they could've done anything.

A short 3 hours story campaign, 30-40 list of cars, characters drama from TV/movies, only set in night time without full 24-hour time cycle, so you want another NFS Heat?

I remember about 13 years ago back when I was a young teen playing carbon.
I was in a pursuit (second most heat level getting chased by undercover cop cars), and I was driving either a Lamborghini or a Corvette Z06. There was a roadblock straight up ahead on the highway, and I activated nitro boost (I had infinite boost). I straight up smashed through the roadblock, and a Police SUV (Jeep) was sent flying into the sky. When I looked in my reverse camera, I could see the police SUV go up into the sky from a distance as I was speeding off.
That was my luckiest and rarest moment of all time in Need For Speed Carbon

Last time I played Carbon was with the game cube back in like 2008. I even broke the game by being able to go over on average 900mph but only for my starter muscle car and nothing else.

Underground and Carbon might have one thing in canon that it's always night. But I prefer Carbon night than Underground.
Underground gives you a night of fun and gone wild. Race for funtime.
While Carbon gives you a night of creepy and seriousness.

i wish EA re-release a game combining MW & Carbon with the storyline detailed further, all the famous mysteries of carbon debunked and based on the original map for carbon(the demo map which got scrapped).

Black Box had the potential, as shown on porting Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2. Then EA in 2010 said they don't need BB anymore. Honestly screw EA at this point.
HP2010 was much better game overall in terms of sense of speed, soundtracks that defined the iconic NFS intro and theme, better sound of cars etc. Since when EA said they don't need Black Box anymore when NFS The Run didn't even got a higher score over 80 on Metacritic and left many bad taste of mouths from people?
Carbon was and still is my absolute favourite NFS game ever.

I didn't play a lot of games in my childhood because I was poor(still am lol) but I still have a PS3 with maybe 6 games.
In 2020 I jailbroke the PS3 and now I have a nephew who loves cars, but he plays some mobile games but now I'm able to give him some racing games to play on PS3.
They need to make a remastered of this game.
