To answer your question about why the loader goes faster in reverse than in forward. When you are working, be it loading or pushing or what ever, you need the machine to be stronger to do the work, when you put it in reverse you want it to go faster so it saves time geting back on your next line.
A loader isn't really made for digging. It is made for loading, of course, and stock piling. The more efficient way to muck a pond would be to use your excavator to pull the mud and throw it out for the loader to put it in your stock piles.
Love the content. wish I was nearer, I'd be happy to help you out.
Playing in the mud…….we haven’t grown up yet………lol!!! Keep having fun!
Great job driving the payloader Cale
A big THANK YOU to Dave from Husker Heavy Equipment so subscribers to LEAAD Farms can get a look at the CAT 980K with Cale as the operator. Impressive machine!
Good news: no cab corn on the 980K.
Grant would definitely have fun with the machine
I used to haul for a mine and I was the only driver allowed to load his own truck. The loader was a Cat 988.
Also operates 844k fast hydrulics.
Trying to unstick that machine sounds like an absolute nightmare to me, but it sounds like Cale wants to get it stuck just so he can get it unstuck...
If I ever won the lottery I would buy a big chunk of ground and buy every big piece of construction and farming equipment I could. Then let people come out and run the equipment like a giant sand box with Tonka toys for adults.
Hey, if you get stuck have Grant bring over his 3 wheeler to help you pull it out!
tHIS IS MARC...THANKS FOR ALL THE INFORMATION....
Thanks for a cool video!
“Let me know if you like this style of channel, and if not….. Well it doesn’t matter because I’m going to do what I want anyway”😂 Great video, thanks for sharing. I always looks forward to your posts.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😊 that was a good video I like to learn more about big machines I'm just like you bigger better machines thank you for this video look to see more
I was concerned about your dad because you and Laura haven't put out a new video in a week. I hope he's doing good...signed a concerned subscriber.
Cale great video . Thanks again for the ride along. I hope your harvest was better than expected.👍
Big sandbox with big toys! I am jealous!
Great video Cale
Cale I operated a john Deere 844 j loder for Aulick leeseing loading sugar beets three scoops will fil one trailer nice tractor also has joystick capabilities love the joystick control hey dont make a loader big rnough
Mr. Cale, you video it and I will watch it. All ot your content is interesting to watch and informative. Thanks, sir.
When I was a young man in the Air Force, I often drove a 10K wheel loader fork lift. If I drove that on the road over 20 MPH, it'd start bouncing like crazy and scare the #$%^ outta me that it was going over. It's hard to teach a 20-something that slower is better, but I learned.
You are having as much fun with that as Laura does with her big combine.
I have a 982. Love these wheel loaders. They go anywhere
OMG Cale....GREASE THOSE PIVOT POINTS!!
Cale, Before I retired from trucking. I drove a truck with a dump trailer. I hauled out of limestone quarry and they had the same liaders as your workin with. If we had some bad storms that flooded the quarries we would have drive to a dry stop where the loaders would drive thru the limestone slug and water to get our material we wanted. They would clean out pits that had the slug and water mixed durin dry weather. Never once as I can remember none of them ever got stuck. I don't think you'll have any problems.
Glad you are having fun in the mud Cale.
the difference between little and big boys is the price of their toys 🤣
You make me jealous! You have all the big boy toys!!😂
I'm here for the ride, bumps and all.
Keep doing Cale stuff.we love it and we watch Laura and Grant...
@Cale, try this traditional recipe. Two scoops of Greek Yogurt in a tall glass of milk, add a pinch of salt and mix it well. Bottoms up, it works wonders with my reflex ;)
Keep doing it your way and I'll keep watching. Really enjoy
your videos.
The 980 is a fantastic piece of kit - the only thing you need for working in soft stuff is chains on your tyres - other than that have fun 😊
Enjoyed the video Cale ... your channel content is always interesting....keep up the good work 👍
I like your method for harvesting silt. It is good land management and erosion control.
Back in the day of VCR's my old boss told me me running heavy machinery videos would keel his grand children entertained for hours, way better than kiddy cartoons!
I guess that why the klondike gold tv show are so popular!
Cheers Warren
Another big boy toy for Kale.
Tad bigger than the 910 I drove back in '80
That looks like an old rock pit loader
You should of gotten a wide track shovel dozer
I run 980m everyday 10k hrs + exp. Mine machine is a bit different, but it appears you have a broken grease line on the top right lift cylinder, and you have a lot of wheel spin going on, I get that it’s mud but if you back off the power and ease back in you will dig in much better. Also rack your bucket so your not spilling shit everywhere. And don’t use that stupid auto lift/tilt crap. I turn that off the second I get in everyday
This is all great advice I appreciate insight from expert operators!!
When you get down to the outer-gooee, go get you big excavator, yoiu can reach in and dig the stuf out + if you get stuck, you still have the power of the arm to push your machine out if the mud
Evening Cale.. some more videos please.. 👍
Great video and keep up the good work God bless from GA
seatbelt is a good idea because some machinery won't operate unless the seatbelt is engaged ie forklift trucks encase of a rollover
Awesome video Cale. Love the content and channel keep them coming 😊
A level teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
That bucket is too big for that muddy job. I bet that machine was used to load trucks at a quarry. Get a LGP D6 and push the mud out. You would be done in an hour. Good luck 👍
I have ben told that 844j is bigger machine yhan the 980 cat,
love it!
You could take all the dirt you dig out and put it in your pivits track and level up the ground where they run
You had me rolling on the floor laughing literally--I fell back in my chair while laughing. What you called manual transmission on that Caterpillar is a big technology improvement over what I used that had an automatic transmission. What you call automatic was in the same realm as Star Trek. And, to make it funnier, we had a separate manual control for nearly each hydraulic cylinder (some work in pairs, of course). Automatic leveling was good hand-eye&balance coordination.
I hear that front end groaning for grease every time you raise the bucket with the camera outside the cab there. That was an awesome view looking back at you from the bucket.
Now if only you could do a split-screen video showing that view, the view from your glasses, and a view looking straight down at the hand and foot controls to see the effect of what you are doing with your hands and feet. But, hey--it's your video. You do what you want and I'll still watch.
Edited to add, "and tilt back," referring to the action of the bucket when I hear 'groaning for grease."
Cool video !
Respect sir✌🏾👊🏾❤
Is there even room in the wheel wells for chains on those tires?
I think the biggest issue with that machine in mucking out the pond where you're not getting full buckets is the tires on it aren't really made for that kind of work. Need tread more like tractor tire treads so you can really get traction and dig the bucket in.
Do day by day all you need to do 👍
I like it.
I always thought your channel had great music.
How do i set the level for the bucket ? What switch do i hit ? Thanks
👍🏻👍🏻
Almost looks like a wider tire footprint or a high rear track type of configuration for this sticky goo, *might* be helpful in this videos work location. (Guessing opinion only).
Are you just going to clean out these catch ponds or are you planning to build a pond also?
We never outgrow our toys they just get bigger
I would like to learn how to operate a loader like this Cat...Then go work on a Gold mine in Alaska....Mr Carlson, do you have a training program ?
👍👍👍
What about the m-x track?? Thanks Cale.
I see alot of wheelspin... does that machine not have lockers or a way to lock the diffs? Im unfamiliar with big loaders but I drove a rock truck for a summer and you could lock up the diffs on those and they turned into tanks.
Great sir, why you didn't prefer a (JCB backhoe) for this operation.
May it make this job easier
Your answers please
Would a dozer do more in that mud?
Great piece of machinery there. How many arces do you plant Cail?
All of them!!
YO CALE! Yet another educational and FUN video! Horn is a little disappointing but overall, Yes, I would love to try that thing out. Curious, does the general public / non farmers usually avoid using the roads around you and the other farms in the your area? Thank you and GO PHILLIES!!!
The general public does not have to actively avoid their farm because it is too far out of the way. The general public just will not be around there if they are going about their own business.
I’m from the area…this piece of ground is along a road that connects to a couple small towns and is used like a highway
Bah !call that a loader ,iused to park my transit van in the bucket of the CAT992 I changed the tyres on, then take it for a test run after the tyres change, albeit it was a coal bucket lol
Are you going to let Laura drive that front in loader I think she would like that
Should use an excavator instead.
Hi Cale interesting video especially the blues music best music ever check out a favorite band of mine
Dave Steffens Band on UA-cam plenty of awesome guitar there!!! I watch Laura’s videos too awesome daughter/ pretty lady 👍✌️
You can use the bucket to help getting unstuck. Raise, tilt full down, lower, tilt up to push back, repeat.
I'm sure he already knows that
Cale, did you learn to operate the loader on your own?
Yes
😀👍👊❤
why not much corn harvest videos
comment
Sound like the 980 needs a grease gun.
I ran one for the better part of 50 years
Sorry sir, you don’t “ drive” those machines, you operate those machines
Excavator 320 Is better for this work
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV, Jesus Christ is the only way.......
I don’t believe in god
