Nice clock but I don’t understand why we need the Bluetooth part. Does this company not do a radio controlled version which deals with exact time, date, day and DST changes? I thought I saw a 00 setting in your video. This reminded me of the Mode Setting on my German clock which you set to -1 to deduct an hour from the European signal. Alternatively, do they do a version linked to the UK time signal? I really don’t understand the need for this bluetooth adjustment when the radio signal is available? I would like the clock more if this were possible but thanks for an excellent video.
Hi and thanks for the comments. I don’t believe they do a radio controlled clock as you describe. In the UK we used to get a signal from Rugby (Now Carlisle) I believe. It’s possible they have chosen to use Bluetooth as it may be more compatible Worldwide? Although it’s probably cheaper to implement a Bluetooth function over a built in radio function needed to receive the time signal update. Not too sure on that but everyone seems to have a mobile phone now a days. Where I live getting a radio signal for time update (We have a clock that updates via a time signal) is difficult due to poor signal strength but I have no trouble with the Bluetooth update for the clock in the video due to WiFi . Thanks for your message. Geek as I am, I have been spoilt by the accuracy of my TFA Dostmann 60.2543.05 which requires only a -1 adjustment to be set to UK time. Signal is claimed to be available within a 1,500 km radius of Frankfurt. On the downside, it’s around £40 and is only 132mm long x 80mm high so would be OK on a desk but perhaps too small over your garage door. I would really like a model with those large blue letters - maybe they will do a radio controlled model in the future as the TFA is pretty versatile within Europe with a +12 to -12 adjustment possible from the German signal?
