Im 19 and this gives me chills every time i watch this intro, i wish rap was still like this, its all trash now, been an old school rap enthusiast since i was 5 😎
aqmazing.....I saw LL live on the raising hell tour with Run DMC, whodini and the beastie boys, one of the greatest concerts of all time......LL cool j is the Greatest for so many different reasons.....
Was anyone ever at the Krush Groove tour at Madison Square Garden in 1985? I was all amped up to see RUN DMC when I went so I took two Quaaludes and drank a 32 oz old English 800. I also brought 12 joints of Thai stick weed. I was feeling super nice and then when I got in the place MR Magic hosted and mentioned RUN DMC can't be there this evening. LOL. But I still enjoyed it watching the Fat Boys , Whodini, Kurtis blow, And I believe Chuck Chill out was on the turntables mixing it up in between sets. Such great memories. After the show I jumped in a yellow cab on 33rd Street and went down to 14th Street and went inside the Palladium. Fun times great days!!!
Damn those are all dope ass photos. I remember all of that but with the shows in New York City where I lived. I seen RUN DMC four times in my life and one of the times I've seen them was at the legendary Funhouse club in New York City. If it wasn't for Randy the light man in the club the song Here We Go would never be recorded. Thank you Randy for pressing record that night because of you the world has the song Here We Go to enjoy forever!!! There was no error in hip hop like it was from 1979 to 1989. That s*** they call hip hop now does not even come nearly close to being dope ass hip-hop like it was then. The main thing I loved about the hip hop years ago was the beats were so fresh and dope and hard-hitting. And the lyrics were so articulate coming from LL Cool J , Rakim, and so many others. Now it is weak ass crap!!!
I was at Def Jam Houston Summit in 87. LL is 4 months younger than me which would make him 19 during this tour. Great show, included Public Enemy, Doug E. Fresh, Eric B & Rakim...and uh oh yeah WHODINI!! Nothing like the great times we all shared in the 80s!!
Lol bought back soo many memories I was like 10 yrs old begging to go see this at the civic center in B- more . My cousins went and I stayed up late waiting for them to get back . My mind was blown when the said L came out of a Boom Box… lol .
Best time I ever had when I was 17, now 43, lol!! I went twice . . . entire concert was the MOST! But honestly, L.L. Cool J literally killed it. He came out of the cassette deck of a radio and after one song I was won! I liked "I'm Bad" but had NO IDEA what I was in store for. When he did "Get Down" it was live! DEF JAM Tour was the best rap concert ever!
@Z Dor - I was there too and also age 17! LL - P.E. Rakim. You are right this concert was the best! Incredible acts! There will never be any other quite like it.
Z Dor Yo I went to this show in Columbus ohio will never forget it and get down was when he got heated and made a fan outta me so glad to see this online I just saw krush groove and he killed it!
I saw this in 87 at the Baltimore Civic Center, L.L, Eric B & Rakim, Whodini and P.E , I was mesmerized once I saw this tour, old school hip hop is the best
I was blessed to be able to see this concert when it came to Rochester, NY. I was 12 hangin' with my older brotha (RIP). Damn I miss these days. True talent back then and for $15 - $20 you got to see at least 4 official hip-hop acts in one show. Thanks for posting this classic heat! ✌

This was when L came to Bmore Downtown at the then Civic Center. The Def Jam Tour was so Goddamn Explosive and High Powered.I remembered My Heart was Fluttering from The Heavy Bass in My Chest.Me and My Man was Fresh from the Hat to the Floor.Long live The 80's✊🏾😎
Greetings if you was around to experience this era true rhymes great word play key elements to the beginning of legendary style that never dies rap you can understand without difficulties the dj was scratching with records timing was so important hand coordination with the artists the combo was serious 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉go llcool j the goat🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just realized that it should've been KRS 1 and LL on the verus battle......cause LL was definitely one brother nobody wanted to get at na mean. Thanks for the upload , takes me back straight up.
I was at the same show at Norwich UEA in '87. Cool J went off. During the intro, Bobcat and Cut Creator were throwing records to each other from across the stage, catching the record, slamming it on the deck and then cutting it up! He did 'Go Cut Creator Go' and halfway through I turned around coz this girl was pushing me and yelling and I looked behind her and there was about 30 homeboys fighting in the middle of the crowd! Cool J just laughed and told everyone to calm down!
I saw him performing on the same tour at Madison Square Garden in NYC and the crowd went berserk when he came on stage and the giant curtain revealed that 12ft+ boom box.
This same tour came to my city Fresno, CA. flavor flav was walking around inside the arena eating a bucket of kfc🍗🤪 thx 4 this LEGENDARY, HALL OF FAME footage🔥👍🏽
Went to this concert when they came to Stockton, Ca....with L headlining and Zapp also performing they blew the lid off the joint. I still have the flyer. RIP RT

I think that was at the Hammersmith Odeon, London 1987, early November. I've still got the audio of this concert on tape. LL IS a Legend, no question.
Defjam"87..was a blessing
ANOTHER CLASSIC FROM LL.COOL J
That’s why I give Kane,Run Dmc, Fresh Prince, woodini, they didn’t rap over a track back then
Bobcat was killin' the Turntables!!!!!! When Cool J added him to the crew, it took him over the top. Thanks to Lyor Cohen for recognizing that talent
Rick Rubin signed LL to Def Jam.
Rubin may of signed him but Ad Rock from the Beastie Boys discovered LL Cool J. Ad Rock also produced his first song "I Need a Beat"...
@@DJDuStED1 i didnt know that
Yeah Bobcat is waaaaaay better than Cut Creator.
Cut Creater couldn’t touch Bobcat!!
LEGENDARY: True Emcee. Showman. Confidence and Swag was on a level! I'm too young to have seen this live, but man I can only imagine!
When hip hop was fun, Philly show rocked!
I was at the same show at Norwich UEA in '87. Cool J went off. During the intro, Bobcat and Cut Creator were throwing records to each other from across the stage, catching the record, slamming it on the deck and then cutting it up!
