How can the purple wire supply running 12v to the HEI if it only has 12v when engaging the starter? I thought the other wire coming from the IGN would go to BAT on the HEI. That way the HEI is getting 12v whenever the IGN is ON.
I had to shave the corner off of my new HEI distributor because it was hitting my intake on a 64 vette . I was cautioned about the firewall but nobody said anything about the intake! I massaged it into place 👌🏼
@@OldCarGarageUSA yes. I found a complete distributor (HEI) with gear drive tach on eBay. $150. CAN I thought easy plug n play, cheap price. I’ve been screwing with it for 4 evenings now. Wrong plug wires twice, and now I discovered to line up #1 I can only turn so far cause it hits the 3 wire harness coming out of the base of the distributor. If I loosen the clamp a lot it will squeeze by but when I tighten it down I’m afraid it will either wear through the wires over time or be hard on the shaft with that constant pressure pushing on the distributor. It’s like an 1/8” but …. This was supposed to go smoothly 😐
@@wadenorgaard9988 Dang, that stinks you're having so many issues. Another option would be to convert your original unit with a Pertronix kit. I used them on my 55 Chevy and 64 Impala with great success.
Good video Dave the 07 should run a lot better now. Did ever think of hopping that 307. You could do it pretty cheep. Some 305ho heads and a small cam and 4bbl would real wake it up.
Doubt I'll do anymore on the 307, just wanted to make it more reliable with the HEI. I'd like to swap in a poncho engine, but been watching marketplace for a number of months and nothing affordable out there, or at least when comparing the number of 350 sbc's for under $500 available.
Sorry I missed that. I used the 75 and up factory connector that I got with the distributor from the junkyard. Google this part number for the type of connector needed. STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS S2323

This is a great video brother, great car looking forward to watching more videos of this project 👍.
Thanks 👍

Quick, cheap and easy.

Didn't realize some intakes would have clearance issues. Did your 64 also originally have a distributor drivin tach?

I wish you had show how to make the connection with that wire.
