Through his heart-rending story, Solomon takes us on a journey through the twists and turns of a privileged but confusing upbringing, his "harmless experiments" with alcohol as a teenager, and his eventual addiction. Denial and blame games that followed eventually rendered him homeless.
Find his book, " CHOKORA" in Nairobi town at Former Ebrahim mall first-floor shop f1. along Moi Avenue, opposite Imenti house.

I reside abroad and worked in a managed alcohol program working with men with alcohol addiction and homeless. I may not be able to visit but I have a friend who provides counseling services would the center benefit from this service?
Im 55 years old but what i have heard today from you has taught me alot, ive learnt so much and will change the way i look at life, people and never judge anyone. Ive shared with my own children and hope they too learn. Im so grateful to you. May God bless you abundantly for opening our eyes....Everyday is a learning experience.

Very interesting and encouraging story
Hi Susan, Mr. Kilanga has a book; *_Chokora_* . It's a good one, you should consider reading it.
@@mercywambaire8166 thanks Mercy i didn't know he had a book. Will 4 sure look for it
'You are the prime victim of all your bad choices'these words are it.
" *I Am The Epitome Of Failure Bcoz Even Suicide I've Failed In* " ... 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Wow.!
Man , you're in your own unique class of Eloquence, figurative speech and Narration ! You've been a gem 💎 lying quietly underground , waiting to be unearthed!
Kudos to you for working on yourself and for sharing your captivate story with us !
🎯🤣
This gave me all sorts of emotions 😂😂
Woiyeeee your mom was a bridesmaid in my mom's wedding , they schooled together and were living in the same area in westlands, we even visited her place later in life in king'eero, your mom loved you, there were photos hanged on the wall in her room ,my eyes caught a photo of your brown beautiful sister, in jer graduation attire, what I admired in your mom was her eloquent English, I praise GOD for you.
The fact that your first evangelist was a chokora just did it for me - God will use anybody for His kingdom advancement- thank you for your story - learnt so much and cried too.
That touched me soo deeply as well!! Indeed, God can use anyone for the advancement of His kingdom.
Who's like God? He'll send you anyone. Literally, anyone.
Primary victim of all your bad choices… What a powerful statement!!
I grew up with Solomon Kilanga I can confirm and attest about all he has shared here. Total turn around
Wow!! There’s nothing God cannot do!
Wow that’s amazing especially for you you personally knew him God is good 👍🏼
How can one reach him?
This is the most powerful story I have heard in a while. The lessons are applicable to everyone not only people struggling with addiction.
Very powerful.
I'm so tearful 😪 your life story is real.
Lynn Ngugi you should interview this great man in the land
Justus has done a good job as well
One of the very best episodes of Shared Moments.
Thanks @Fred. Keep sharing
Huyu Solomon deserves a Presidential award.
Justus you are doing an impactful media service to the public.
May the Lord bless you all❤
You should be NACADA ambassador or something.
Trurly blessed with your story, am currently in the dumps, but,u have given me hope.
God bless all the people u met along the way,n lifted u,in any small way.
Pat yourself on the back....many have gone....n will go......keep helping this is a tough battle 🇰🇪🇨🇦
A very intelligent fellow. A great orator. Touched by the story
Your oratory skill is superb.
Great message for mothers' to understand their boy children and intervene at the right time.
Also, Mr Kilanga, You are a good story teller and can make a perfect actor.
Hi Florence.
We continue with more doscussions on the boychild, alcohol and drugs on my channel below
ua-cam.com/video/5xjkZ1RHRJw/v-deo.html
Amazing ! The guy is very intelligent .. I always look at these "chokora" with hind sight some look quite out of place in the streets
This is one of the most profound liife story ever. Solomon you are a strong man. I pray that two years today you are well and strong in the Lord
As a Kenyan in Majuu, we started wondering a few years back why kids who came to the west from Kenya began to ‘act out’ and lose their way so much. We were like hawa watoto came from nothing (or a different situation)and have it all but they cannot appreciate what they have. Your story explained this dilemmas. They struggle with the out of placeness. Wow thank you for sharing
Kindly help me with Mr. Kilanga's number please
"You are the prime victim of all your bad choices", stop the blame game!!!! Very powerful words. Taking responsibility for bad choices and acceptance is the road to the beginning of healing.
Stop hating
Solomon, your testimony is one of the best ever told that I've heard, it had everything, humour , sadness, regret, lessons and many other elements that we could draw from, but the one that really got me was when we you talked directly to us men and why we should not lock in our underlying issues, that hit me right inside, we have so many issues that we are in Denial about, you spoke to me sir, you painted a picture to what humanity is and can do to a person in its absence, esteem issues are bigger than we want to admit , but you laid it bare for us all to see using you're testimony, thank you so very much and I'm so happy for you that you have found your purpose , listening to you has made an enormous paradigm shift in my mentality about especially men on the street battling dependency of drugs and alcoholism, you are not where you are by accident but by design, so God will continue to bless your work, thank you so much again for blessing us with your testimony, I know you have saved many and will continue to save even more , God bless you
As always we appreciate your feedback @leslie ngugi. As yes, Solomon has touched on issues that need reflecting upon
God bless you too, thank you so much for the encouragement
This one has given me hope that one day one time ,my brothers will turn around,I will not give up on them.thank you so so much for sharing this story,it's sad, painful, still laughable and great lessons.keep doing what you are doing saving many souls just like the pastor did with you and Kamau and the others.
Wow, if you wrote a book i would buy it and am sure am not the only one .
Your purpose in this life puts you on a path and you have lived it .👏🏿
He has written a book. Kindly get in touch with him to know how you can get a copy of his book.
There is a book by him called 'Chokora'
Solomon your story is full of lessons,
1. A practical, non-academic explanation of what the disease of alcoholism is all about, its different stages including its final stage which is early death. Also the stigma associated with the disease.
2. People in the streets are there due to different circumstances and in many cases they are not looking for the coin that I give them. They are more interested in me boosting their morale and dignity, and recognizing them as normal human being.
I like your humor, you are an excellent speaker, the way you put everything in context I can literally see through your life. I can't wait to visit you. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Antony.
Karibu Sana GLC,hope to see you there soon
Hi Antony
We continue with discussions on the boychild, alcohol and drugs on my channel below

He reminds me of my recovering brother.
✋eeeh am also here listening attentively I can't even attempt to blink Waaah!
Don't blink 😁
Kikikikiki! Yaaaaa! This man has impressed me with his honest explanation 😅😅😅 from Zambia.
We were with my friend Solomon in Zambia selling Salaula(Second Hand Clothings)a beautiful country with lovely people, land of Wamdala😂😂
OMG. I am addicted to this channel. The negative things people here go through are heart rending. The spirits with which they conquer are indomitable. The God who delivers them all powerful and to cap everything, Kenyans are such world class storytellers. Am Zimbabwean.
I agree. I'm Zambian. Equally addicted to the channel and many things East African.
This story has truly been an eye opener.
Amazing how despite being more than 2 decades ago he tells the story like it happened just the other day.
#am here, and respect to this Gentleman...he talked about issues that l always condone,Like l say a man has no place in our society today, especially when u don't have nothing...am talking about an adult,,women and children you can sympathize with them...and its high time we raise this issues...
Let's start the conversation... it's gona pay. Thanks for watching @kevin ndonga and for your feedback. Keep sharing it might save someone
@@SharedMomentswithJustus Great content,we need more...thank u Justus
You're not alone my brother, before I experienced that life, I too could not understand why a grown man couldn't take care of himself....that experience gave me a different perspective
I feel to cry,it is so emotional story but i have learned alot NEVER GIVE UP.GOD is great
*01:20**min* is the story of my dad, they tried milk it did not work by the time they organised a car he was already dead. He did not share his problem *57min* (men keep their problems), it took his life, we buried him 25years back. Whenever I listen to such stories related to it. I cry. 8 children have lived for 25years without both parents. RIP DAD & MUM. Thank you Mr Solomon 🙏 May God bless you.🇺🇬
I’m so sorry that happened to you Amon Hakiiri
Great story.I have a son with almost a similar story.Felt like giving up on him but the story has given me a fresh start
He speaks so intelligently.
Unbelievable....well spoken, articulate and handsome execution. I am beyond impressed. Thank you brother for sharing such an inspiring life journey. Many will benefit from this talk as I am. May God bless and pour on you his continual dew. You would definitely make a great Kenyan leader.
This is a discussion straight from Sigmund Freud confirming that what happens to a child between 1 to 5 yrs determines your later life, here this guy is dealing with layer upon layer of 'repressed' toxic materials and he shud continue to guard against relapse back to alcohol, good luck!
What a beautiful comeback. The little things...i like that part. Sometimes it takes brokenness that makes us whole.
What a great speaker I could listen to him forever I went through something alittle similar to him but never got to the street but he is like he is telling my life story
Oh wow Gitau you are an orator I felt like I was watching a movie 🎥🍿 all along. For sure we serve a God of sec 💯 chances as Bishop rests am sure he served his purpose on earth really well. Paybill noted. Way to go for taking up the mantle 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 *standing ovation
I'll be in touch in due time ☺️
Great feedback. Thanks @Ivy for standing with Solomon, and yes, he's really gifted
Thank you Ivy,pay a visit to GLC sometime and see how God changes lives
Same here
Totally 💯 support your words Queen 👸🏽 Ivy! I’ll definitely visit GLC as what he’s shared has deeply touched my heart! God bless you Solomon!
What a story!! That many need to hear....so many lessons!
I wish I had skills in movie making....this strong testimony would be a blockbuster!
Jesus Christ you taught me to trust in God Almighty and to be watchful and continue to talk with kids in many schools so that they may learn a lesson and make the right decision in life and may God bless you more and more
So great work. Such a great ministry. May God bless this brother and give him great help in this kind of a ministry. God allowed him to go through it so that he can later be a deliverer of many others going through the same situation. I'm a victim of child abuse and I've written a book about it. My mom who gave birth to me in teenage and dropped out of school hated me and rejected me so much. She tortured me mercilessly physically and psychologically. Right now I'm believing God to start a children's home, a rescue center and a school for the vulnerable children. I do that kind of ministry by God's grace. May God bless and preserve you my brother Kilanga.
Is your mom still alive?
@@stellamoraa1621 Yes she is.
Awesome story right there. I lost my sleep at around 4am and I bumped on this. To say the least, my life is changed. Thanks bro.Kilanga.
Karibu Sana bro.

Mr Gitau you a blessing to many. We serve a leaving God.
what a testimony. God bless you and all the homeless men out there crying silently for help.
Thank you for Standing for the BOYCHILD.....God bless you .
Wow.. This is educative and inspirational for parents and for the society in general. Asante sana Mr. Solomon, for sharing your life journey with us. 🙏🏿 None of us is born with a 'user manual' on how to do life best. We are all on a learning journey. And like Maya Angelou said,, "Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better" 🙏🏿🤗😘
I like that. When we know better, we do better.
Solomon was my classmate from form two UpTo form four.
Parted ways after form four only to bump into him carrying a sack as a chokora around pangani years later. Used to pass by my hse in pangani while going to bath at the river once in a while. God works miracles.
The poison that does not kill you will always make you strong. You are a strong man and true inspiration, continue inspiring and raising generations.
This story has been an eye opener bana! Street children don't just happen, it's a whole process that take place...but God works out all thaf the devil intended to use to destroy us and makes it beautiful. He turns the ashes. Blessings to you Solomon for sharing your story with all of us
You are blessed and highly favoured Solomon. God is still in use in you anf your are extremely important in His kingdom!!
4 Step Program - Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, Reintegration.
Keep it up my brother, GLC and this channel. You are blessed beyond. Looking forward to connecting when i am next there.

Thank you Judi.
Inspiring story, i have a relative whom i wish he would listen to this, he has suffered relapse almost 3times, be blessed mr. Kilanga, your story is more than a testimony
Share the link with him. You never know what God might impress upon his heart after watching
Kiranga
I would like to know whether you reconciled with your parents and siblings.
This story is absolutely incredibly touching. I'm passing it on to my daughters to watch and to my siblings. My biggest take from your story is, that God can restore the years and everything that the devil has stolen. Today you are living your true life calling sir. May the good God bless you for that.
Thro Justus I have grasped that I had been in the bush of which I had to come out by myself. It is a long story. This is after I was reaccepted in the church back in 2000. It had been I tough challenge far much worse that international acceptance. This is not the point. Am a Catholic by faith and ordained Catholic priests ordained behind yesterday have done to the best of their ability as the spirit leads. Option left for me was come out the bush. Imagine this an are they could not reach. Thro Justus I have come to senses and I feel am new creature. Let's wait and see what is about to happen. 22 yrs down the line I have gone thro hell on earth. Reason behind coz trying to defend my faith. As we speak it has just revealed in the mind I have won the battle since I have kept my faith. It is a long story that has affected my life and my children. I have realized myself after following Justus in part 1 and 2 respectively. May God bless Justus. Amen. Get the image thro Justus I have grasped that I have kept my faith. Justus you are God's instrument and also in future to come.
God is our Lord of wonders. Nothing can not be changed. Praise God.
This gentleman is a gifted narrator and an educator. May God's favor continue.
alot to learn here...this man has highlited the plight of so many who can never speak or are never heard....has changed my perspective as well...thank God for the light at the end of the tunnel..He really is a restorer, God really restored this man....Praise God forever
What an eloquent speaker he is,very brilliant mind.
Outmost respect to you Sir. I have a lot of respect for you and what you stand for. Thank you so much for the lives you touching out there.
Ooh! My. I would love to meet this guy. He is the true meaning of redemption.
What an inspiring story. Big ups to her Mum and his Dear School mate who accepted him at his Adam Acade house. Alot to learn in this story. God bless you more for encouraging others.🙏
This is an amazing story. Thank you @Justus for bringing it to us. Thank you @Kilanga for sharing and for making society better by getting young men off the streets.
I appreciate how deep , honest articulation by Solomon is. I am sure it shall inspire many
Definitely will. Thanks @Flo
It takes love for human beings to change the world... everyone craves for love, its everything 😅❤
You are very intelligent, Very inspiring you have put ego aside and told us the truth , I hope your story will inspire most of us , thank you.
This guy is real I know him and he is doing good job with the men
God bless you mightly Solomon for your encouraging testimony
Mama Eddie
This is so epic. Helped me understand the mind of an addict. God bless you for the good work.
Thank you Sir! May God bless you for you have turned your pain into purpose.
This is not just a story its an experience this brother lived.... not at all just a story be strong for others who are experiencing the same
It's like God brought you into this corrupt system of things so that you can be the voice of the forgotten. I love that part of yr early childhood. I can relate to it and even me ,I can say that my early childhood is and will be the best part of my life.Like we had nothing yet we felt rich and complete. I too used to do mud sliding down a hilly place during the rainy season and we used to be naked...yes most village children those days used to do their lives clotheless and it looked so natural. Nobody had money to buy clothes for us children especially for the boy child except (maybe)only a long kaki shirt which could barely cover his "where it matters".
Us children used to be permanently happy although permanently poor..
How I wish my children could enjoy that privilege.
I love yr rich English .There was a reason for that sad experience .God was preparing you for your mission. You had to experience it in person for you to understand yr mission well.
Hope to see you soon my brother 🙏
"It's like an animal being told to perform tricks"😂😂😂😂..You have a great sense of humor.
An amazing story.this reminds me of another adult chokoraa who would wash cars in river sosiani in eldy n it was said he came from a posh family in elgon view.would wish to know what really pushed him to the streets ...May God bless what u r doing ...greatest take home.God replaces all that has been lost in life He has good plans for us.
Thanks for watching and for your feedback @Tabbie Mwas. Keep sharing and inspire someone
I have never been so glued to the screen like I did with this. As someone said, this is like reading a very well written book. Thank you for sharing.
Haki this is so so touching.Waaaaaa, the things we take for granted.Lord have mercy on our children.
This is so encouraging God is able to restore
"All you feel is like an animal being taught to perfome human tricks ."😂
Very inspiring story. I have a brother that went thru the same journey I mean literally everything you did he did. But we thank God he did a 180 too, 3 years ago and now he does counseling to young adults and is studying to be a youth minister.. what we learned from our brother is, change happens within not without ..You have to want to change otherwise every effort your loved ones would offer would be useless! Remember the 3 c's of life ,CHOICES,CHANCES &CHANGES
You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change!

You have shared your story beautifully. You have described the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in a wonderful way.
You explain why rehab is not enough for addicts. They need to heal from childhood adversity if total healing is to happen. Thank you very much for sharing your story.
The best narrator nmeskia part one nd two kufuatanisha indeed God can put life bk where it's supposed to b
I have not heard a moving, emotional and educative story as this. Solomon Kilanga owning up to his bad decisions and teaching us through his pain. This is is so deep!
You have changed my mind in a big way. Got me looking at the Street men in a different angle, from a point of compassion rather than fear. I will do my duty in supporting this cause and may God bless you as you continue with your good work. Alcohol is the monster we hardly talk about and how it’s messing primarily the boy child.
We need more men to speak out
The most inspiring story I have heard so far.... good job Justus
Waaaau that little you're still clinging on, its the one god will use to bring out the best version of you...am touched
You are a great narrator Mr Solomon, inspired by your story. This would be a great book, your life story. Be blessed.
