- This was for a college music class project. Not synced/edited that great and frankly an old video. This was still when I was learning more than playing this music. After playing out in the past 2.5 years I will soon upload a newer one and provide a link here! Thanks!

Salut excellent un son global merveilleux. Merci et viva la musica
I dont know where are u from brother but I'm a cuban drum player and I tell you you're amazing playing cubans ritmos!!
I am surely not the only one who’s been inspired by this video. So many tasty grooves in here. Been focusing on Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms lately on the drums and I am constantly referencing this video to see how it should be done. Thank you!
i never knew until now how complicated latin was
NOT Latin but Cuban drumming.
I don't get why people say "Latin music." It's like saying "American music." There are hundreds of styles of music in the U.S., and there are probably just as many in Central and South America.
This is Afro-Cuban drumming.
Or "salsa" drumming.
5:30 I'm completely puzzled
Same here bud but I know he is playing strait heat when you put music on top of it
It's probably easiest if you focus on the rhumba clave. Once you identify the clave, you can see that his right foot only ever plays the traditional "tumbao" rhythm. And his hands just freestyle over the top of those two things.
The guy's got skills.
That’s because you don’t understand loose phrasing’s over a strict 3/2 clave!!
@@sticktrik Oh, I get it. Free-form latin
En qué libro vienen todos estos grovees? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
amazing independence! unreal
That's exactly what you get playing these rhythms.
could have been perfect if you were also add a playlist of lessons, a short lesson for each style.
this was a school project. I am thinking about making a more detailed video lesson. This was a long time ago too!
don't over-thinking about it. Just do it :)) same as "Siros Vaziri" (look on FB. if you'll do the same
(with many kinds of rhythms and styles - it would be amazing
Wonderful. How can some one not "like" this?!
+Michael Pluznick Thank you! Well this is an older video. It has been a couple of years now and have come a long way. I'll try to upload more videos this summer
Timing issues..

!!! Saludos desde la Patagonia !!!!!
Super tasty!!! 😀 Do you have a transcript of these rhythms or perhaps a book which compiles them?
I found this video a few years ago. and I was blown away. Now im gonna study every bit of this for the next few years
how did it go
Yea how did it went?
hello greetings you will have the music written of everything you play greetings from Mexico
Really cool video! I'm practicing independence with claves on my feet for improvisation using the sincopation. Do you have a book where you learned all the rythms? I know most of the latin rythms by learning them in songs. You seem to be playing and improvising a little bit, I'll be using this video to practice more :)
I recommend Horacio El Negro's book "conversations in clave"
Jajaj
@Markus Hoeckner Where do you buy those add ons to play castacara in floor tom or snare???
Haha I'm sure the thirteen people that disliked this listen to Nickelback.
Nicholas Yantz hahaha best one yet
Watch at UA-cam Bongos at your fingertips - an innovative way of playing bongos.
Definitely elements of Antonio Sanchez and Horacio Hernandez 🥁 in there. Great job 👏👍
The 3 hardest music styles tô play on Drums: Prog metal, jazz and The hardest is afro cuban
Sounds like your trying to merge a conga, and samba rhythim at the same time. I realize that trap playing requires fills, just remember though, each of those rhythms is actually one person playing their set part. You get going too fast and its just mush. Unless, that's what you're going for, mush. Kinda disrespectful though.
This is cultural music, not just make-up as you go.
BATERISTA BRINCANDO NO RITMO AFROCUBAN - UA-cam
Vale mucho verga este vídeo 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🙈🙈😂😂🙄🙄😁🙃🤘
JUST AWESOME! I love the variations
he's go three different Afro Cuban beats at once - 3 diferentes golpes en ritmo Afro Cubano - nice !
Me at 0:00 : Hey this isn't too bad
Me at 0:22 : ok nevermind
6:30.... Unreal🤯🤯🤯
My insides automatically stir when I hear this beat
Could you hear "cancion urgente para nicaragua" and tell me what rythm is it??
this is the drumming video that has amazed me in a while, now i have ideas of a drum solo..thanks man!
People are so stuoid theres nothing wrong with this video. Job well done man.
This is excellent, great independence and time feel. It puts my attempt at the genre to shame.
Blew me away man. Fantastic job.
Excelente trabajo. Saludos

very nice man, loving that independence
fuuuuuuuuuuuuck...
At least you got the right bounce\ feel!! There’s a lot of stiff sounding
self proclaimed “latin drumming”
authorities on UA-cam!!!!!
Thank you! Though quite honestly, I think I sound pretty square in this. This was when I was in college.
Certified Papi ™️ 🇨🇺
Wow man, nice work and independence....would love to jam with a drummer like you, are you in the NYC area?
I saw your videos and wish I could. I live in Chicago and don't have too many conga players. Unfortunately this video is a little dry because it was just demonstrations, but i'll upload more recent stuff.
+Markus Hoeckner Chicago Huh by any chance did you study with Ruben Alvarez?
I check in on this video every once in a while as a point of reference for my growth in the Afro-Cuban style. This is the first I'm seeing this comment. I live in the Chicago area too, I would love to take lessons from you if you're available.
Well I studied with Ruben Alvarez he is the guy to study with,I'm in Milwaukee anyhow.
Yeah buddy!!!! I'm working grooving with your rythms... :)
Acere ,keep it up you might get it
Do they make those wood panels you use for stick hits or did you have to fashion them? It sound good wood on wood like that.
beautiful 4-way!
I have a lot of work to do 😓
WOW!!! I will be studying these for sure!!
Scorcio...so when you are learning those ritmo's are you breaking down the foot pattern or the hand pattern first or mayb both?
Bravo! Thank you for this gorgeous lesson. Are you an album? Playing with any group? Where can find out more about you?
such complex rhythms requiring higher limb independence. I love A
fro-Cuban rhythms
Phenomenal!
Saludos desde Chile🇨🇱
Great video. I'm keeping this one to use as a reference. As for the people who had negative things to say, I'd love to see them do a better job at this - I'm sure they couldn't.
Hey dude you rocks
Watching from France
Sorry my english is poquito
Hey that's nice playing. Could you tell me what the phases do you use for the cascara? Or maybe I can find them in some books... I am a drummer who likes Latin and Afro music!
Excellent job!!!!!!! I'm latino and I have to say that you are amazing!!
the sound of this Sonor is beautiful!! My Brazil - Sergipe - Aracaju
That was so clean . Perfect timing and spacing all the way through . Love that kit also .
fucking nice man
Amazing playing! Very inspiring!
I learned from watching this genius since five years ago.
Thank you your the best at this , cause I make us learned it easy.
5:30 best section
What are the rhythms from 5:00-5:30 called?
hello Markus,
do you have sheet music for these patterns..? care to share it? :D
awesome skill btw..
Nice. Wondering on the floor tom and snare. I see you have some shell protector for playing your cascara. Did you make that from an old drum shell or was that made for purchase.
Very good video I love, what kind of cowbell do you use on the left foot?? make and model...thakns!!!
First of all amazing playing, second what kind of block are you using on the floor Tom is it custom made
Thanks!🙌🏼🛸
You just show up your self how to play d drums in any Latin rhythms, can u play and demostrate it to us how you play it?
Poucas vezes encontrei um bom material pra analisar. Meu parabéns. If you don't understand, in your language. GOOD JOB MAN.
Snare 👌👏👏👏
Hi Markus, I sampled one of your drums, it is now part of Kokoriko Bolero: soundcloud.com/amstreider/kokoriko-bolero. Hope you like it
Nice that jimmy Brandly book is awesome
real cool stuff; shows a lot of command and independence of the Afro-Cuban style!! what is that piece attached to the floor and snare?
Great playing! Would you mind sharing where you picked up those wooden panels for your tom and snare? Can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!
Very Nice. what for cymbals do you have here
Explication plis
WOW 😲 Great 👍 independence BRAVO 👏
Thanks for the upload. Your video helps me to determine genres for jamming purposes. I had noticed that also there isn't a lengthy Bongo Bell pattern available on you tube for the reason. It would be good if there was longer sample to play along too.
Yes!! Super!! Happy new drum2017
that's not an easy thing to do... odo is a little bit off the tempo, good drumming here
fantastico!!
@dafnisprieto
