the thing I love about contemporary is that it looks really easy when you first look at it but when you try it you realise how talented the dancers really are and how hard all the technical movements are. It's my favourite style

That was amazing. I actually used this video to show my grandfather because he said modern dancers are whimps and that it isn't as good as old fashioned dancing. I won that dance off. Lol

I really love the emotion that she gives in this piece. The way she connects with it is really nice. The technique and movement in each step feels like it is telling a story. Each facial expression is matched with each move, which is a move that most dancer don’t really set properly so props in that department. Overall it was a great routine.

This type of dances touches my heart so much.
wonderful camera angles and movement, it helped be pulled into the movements along with the dancer and really emphasized the dancing, which is excellent, and i loved it.

So beautiful -- knowing that I am in the dance academy and I do modern dance, it's fascinating the way she did her dance performance because it might seem super easy to do, BUT ANY BEGINNER BALLERIA knows this must be hard with tons and tons of practices! I am super impressed!
This is gorgeous, Both the song, the dance and the feeling behind it really resonated within me.
I came across this video not that long ago, but I find myself coming back to it more. This dance is exceptional. You are a very talented and passionate dancer, and I think your face and body really connects to the lyrics as well. Even the quick jerk like movements of your head in the beginning are so subtle but I think it makes it that much more effective. And I especially love the parts starting from 1:33 through to 2:00. Amazing. Kudos to an outstanding performance!...

Constructive Criticism
It felt as though you were performing the dance more than feeling it, which is shown by your facial expressions and very rarely your dance movements.
The floor work at 0:50 is absolutely beautiful and unique to my eyes. I adore watching contemporary/modern dance choreography and haven't come across anything like that piece. Same again with the next few steps, during "that he's killing me for my sake."
The sharp jolts need to be bigger and more powerful to give the dance more effect. In the sense that, something sharp and sudden has power over a peaceful dance.
From roughly 2:00 - 2:55 involves a lot of running from one side of the stage to the other, as well as a lot of high leg movements. It seems repetitive and as though you didn't quite know how to choreograph that section? It's not always a bad thing, I just personally believe a dance is more appealing with more movements in such a part of the song.
Honestly, overall I did enjoy watching it but being a dancer myself, I can't help but see imperfections. Good work and I hope you continue dance as a growing hobby/career, it's such a great stress reliever :)
SilentSecret I agree with the repeat at the end vs the unique variety at the beginning. Either follow a repeat format throughout or keep the guessing game coming! I will argue that her apathetic expression goes perfectly with the song, as she is supposed to be dead ;)

Thank you! I can't really describe how many hours, but it was in a period of 2 months I guess, including being home and thinking about the concept etc. But I wasn't working on it everyday, so it's hard to tell

My favourite thing about this dance was the acting. The choreography was amazing, but the acting really made it much more real. I believed her.

Incredible center of gravity, use of turns, beats, emotion (could play up the vulnerability and inner physical fight with use of mistakes that don't look as "pretty" so to speak), composure and even the editing/cinematography help share a story...delightful to watch!

1. What is the title of this piece, and who is the choreographer? : Hey Little Fighter, choreographed by Raïfa Bazzi
2. What is the story? :she’s facing death for her safety
3. What emotions are evoked by this performance? :pain, sadness
4. How does this dance showcase the elements of Time, Space, and Force? : Time-the dance was very much connected to the song, specific movements were repeated with the same lyrics. Space- Raïfa uses a lot of levels, hers legs bend up high and she also moves very fluently on floor. Force-she moves incredibly smoothly, and other than a few jolting movements, the dance is very light
5. How would you generally describe the movements in this sequence (heavy, hard, light, soft, jagged, curved, fast, slow, graceful, chaotic, etc.)? Or a combination of several? : the dance is very graceful, her transitions between different parts of the dance blend right into each other
6. Why are you drawn to this particular dance? :This was one of the first Videos I found and the way she was able to move and the song was very intriguing and beautiful

The Choreographie is absolutely amazing, but yet it feels like she isn't dancing with her whole heart and soul and that's a little bit sad because otherwise this video would be an unbelievable masterpiece ^^

Hey! Your dancing is amazing, I'm starting dance again and I'm doing ballet, but my mom is suggesting I do another type of dance along with ballet. I want to do modern, but I'm not very flexible, should I go for it?
Thank you! Yes, the more the better! But stay true to yourself and create your own style with all the ingredients you can get, and if you don't like something just don't use it. Flexibility will come with time and training, also breathing and creating a flow is important and helpfull

I saw this dance a few years ago. I still think about it a lot.
One thing that surprises me about a lot of the thumb pics for various jazz and modern videos is they give you the idea that dancing is about being a contortionist and doing splits in the air, which is demoralizing to all those people who are not born to move that way. As an adult dancer, I know that stretching is often a huge waste of time and merely wears out your spinal discs until an injury starts to feel. Stretching is good but people need to figure out which parts of their bodies respond to stretching and which ones do not. When you watch these talent shows featuring dancers, oftentimes the guy or girl just prances around for a moment and then tries to shock the judges with a contortionist move as if to disguise the fact that his or her basic dancing technique is sloppy or lacking completely but the amateur judges don't really care; they just want to see cool flexibility tricks instead of knowledge of actual dancing technique.
This has inspired me to try modern dance ♡. I was a gymnast and still have a lot of flexibility so I know that'll help
