It’s a pleasure watching you two work on this Miata. Kelly is super impressive as she gets her hands dirty right beside you fixing up this project car!
...all that work and it doesn't even show! Great job guys, it's true that no one would think you guys did all that. Working with gas is always a pain but you guys aced it and the roll bar will be sick not to mention the upcoming wheels video, I'm a sucker for new shoes so I'm really looking forward to that one!
We test fitted a wheel off camera and they are awesome. I can't wait for our neighbors to see it with the new top, wheels and tires. Thanks for watching, JC!
once you get to the wiring and have it all sorted you might want to concider the headlight controll box that allows you to controll the headlights from your phone
I just got a 2000 Miata and I am in love with it, however the fuel pump metal housing is so soft and flaky rusty more than cornflakes. I am starting my project to work on it today. The whole fuel pump and modules are so flaky rusty that it is like rust powder between my fingers 😢. I have no way to replace the tank, but I will have to clean it. I only have my driveway to do it and it is really steep one 😢
Yeah the ppf is a massive pain in the butt to remove from the diff. I done a manual conversion. Bought a wrecked 5 speed donor car and transfered the running gear into an auto, so I had to remove TWO ppfs from cars that have never had their ppf removed and the bolts were seized and it just sucked big time. I have to replace the tank and I'm really not looking forward to doing the ppf from the diff and might just do what you did instead.
2:25 I have the exact same rust right there. my car was left for 6 years outside with no back window and a broken top before I picked it up today. it was growing moss! I just ripped off the carpets and was going to change fuel pump when I found that rust. now I’m researching😂
Don't forget to transfer the little metal braces off of the old one to the new one, like we did! Luckily, even after subframe is back in, you can reinstall those!
Hi this is off topic but your video was so good maybe you can answer my miata issue or someone here? I have tried everything to fix the fuel gauge on my 1991 miata and Idk what to do. New fuel pump, new fuel sending unit, 1991 miata had been sitting for 15 yrs but it is running well now except for smelling like gas inside the car. thanks in advance!
Just picked up a 1997 miata for my son, he's very excited to get started, keep loading great vids guys, thanks.
That is awesome! Enjoy the process!

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I'm replacing my gas tank soon and really appreciate your video!
Glad it was helpful! It's actually a pretty easy job. Don't forget to change your fuel filter while you are under there! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for making this video. Me and my son will actually be changing the fuel tank on our Miata today. This was helpful.
Glad it helped! Good luck! It's easier than you think.
Great job guys!! Good to see the wifey getting involved, love all the content.
Thanks! I can't do these next couple of videos without her!
Dropped it like it was Hot! One love

ayyyy congrats on the new project. very clean, if you have good rockers then your in fantastic shape
once you get to the wiring and have it all sorted you might want to concider the headlight controll box that allows you to controll the headlights from your phone
I appreciate that! And yes, the rockers are good!! Thanks for watching.

Sounds like you'll love this build. Our Miata was a POS. 😆 It turned out pretty sweet, tho. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate it!!
I’m glad i’m not the only one who forgets which way to turn the wrench when it’s backwards
Pssh, I forget which way to turn the wrench when it's not backwards!🤣😂
Love the miata videos!
Glad you like them! I can't wait to actually get this thing to look like something!
Thanks!
i was surprised you didn't pressure wash the rear end while it was out.......
I was considering it, but we were on a time restraint and had bigger fish to fry.
you use a jack on the miata? i thought i was about to watch you get under the car and bench press it while wifey put the jack stands under
Lol.
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
missed the vid yesterday but im here today...hell of a job for a gas tank....
Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I'm glad we don't have the exhaust and transmission installed.
Crap I need to do this to a Miata that sat for 10 years. I drained the tank but it looks like a black stalagmite and stalactite cave
It's easy! Do it!!
I need torque specs for all these bolts now that I'm ready to reinstall.. please help
Put them on as tight as they came off. That's what I do.
Where can we discuss your cycle?
My GT Pro Performer?
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers nope lol
Oh, that cycle. All natural. Always have been.
Looking fresh bro!
Thanks!

Nice. I've had this fuel tank on my ebay watch list for a few months now. I need to change mine soon.
Don't forget to transfer the little metal braces off of the old one to the new one, like we did! Luckily, even after subframe is back in, you can reinstall those!
Do you guys have the link for it, mine is leaking bad and the only ones I find are 300 and up
You guys forgot the reinforcement plates that are on the old gas tank where the bolts go in
You're correct!!! We did that months later off camera when I found them in the garage and couldn't remember what they were from! Thanks for watching!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers yes I believe with out them your gas tank would sag over time
mine is WAY worse....entire interior of the tank is FULL of rust
Swap it out!!! Don't let that junk go through your injectors!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers I got a tank, I just need decent weather to pull the subframe
