Pelo Telephone (Through The Telephone) - Bahiano with Choir (Samba - 1917)

Hearing session and recording held in reverence for the registry's centenary of the "samba-amaxixado" Pelo Telephone (Through The Telephone).
It was registered by Ernesto Joaquim Maria dos Santos (1890-1974) - known as Donga - at the National Library of Rio de Janeiro on November 27, 1916.
The two main recorded versions were realized at the beginning of 1917, aimed for commercialization during the carnival of the same year.
Here, a version sung and accompanied by a choir by Manuel Pedro dos Santos (1870 - 1944) - known as Bahiano - main member of artists' cast from Casa Edison of Rio de Janeiro and with the perfect voice type for the pioneering mechanical sound recordings, made in Brazil between 1902 and 1927.
Pressed in one of the largest disc factories of its time, located at Rua 28 de Setembro - 50, Tijuca neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro: The Odeon Factory, built under license granted to Frederico Figner (1866 - 1947) - known as Fred Figner - founder of Casa Edison of Rio de Janeiro and pioneer of musical recordings not only in Brazil but also worldwide.
Audio recording performed in January 1917, at the recording studio of Casa Edison, located at Rua do Ouvidor - 105, Rio de Janeiro's downtown.
Video edited and released at the day after of the official registry's centenary.
