Get Them While They're Cheap! | Flea Market Vintage Shopping for Deals

- Legions of vintage and antique vendors bring their best to Florida's huge Mount Dora Antique Extravaganza in this tantalizing video! There's so much to see in this one, and a lot of fun people...@TheNurseFlipper , @LakeshoreFinds and other great social media friends of ours come to shop, sell and hang out with me at this hugely varied antique show, mall, shops and flea market-all located next to one another!
We shop the booth of a viewer doing her first ever 'real world' antique show, where Alaskan figures look a little overdressed for Florida...so we'll take them back to the Northwest! Cool cocktail shakers, a bargain priced Blenko piece...we find some great deals to sell in our booth while we're out filming and visiting friends.
But it's not just what we buy to flip for a profit that captures our interest. We see an amazing pair of full-size figural lamps worth many thousands, discover a map that could put us at war with England, and learn Transcendentalism from Ralph Waldo Emerson. From slave cribs to the fanciest oak ice box ever, there's so much to discover at this huge antique and vintage show!

Give this man his own TV show! He is so entertaining, just him and a camera
I totally agree. Just George ALL BY HIMSELF is the most informative and entertaining.
Aww thanks! That would be fun
I agree! Do it!
I agree!
💯
George takes us to school and we all come away smarter. I appreciate "old things" so much more thanks to you putting such rich context and dates to all the pieces you share with us. Thank you.
I can't imagine how honored people must feel with you shopping their booth!
Yes I would think so!
Wow almost 60K 🎉
Let's Share video and help George to 60K !
Dear George,
I just wanted to say that our entire family loves your videos.
You are definitely an authority on antiques. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
We appreciate your time and effort.
Sincerely, Di and family.
Dalton isn't letting go, he really likes the ladies! He's so beautiful. I call him King Dalton! Great company.
It was great seeing the nurse flipper and Dalton in the video! There are lots of very interesting things at the show!
Yes! Nice to see them here. Dalton is such a handsome little boy, going up fast - as kids have a habit of doing.
Noticed the fancy decorated satin Christmas ornaments like Yvon thrifty rich was selling. Next to the carnival bowl. (I used to make those ornaments, and now I’ve graduated to beaded ornament covers). Always nice two follow George around to these shows and antique malls, and estate sales! 😍💚
Dalton has the most gorgeous eyes. Mommy is going to have girl problems when he's older. 😁
Dalton is absolutely adorable 😍
What an awesome experience! Thanks for taking us along. I am learning so much. And I am seeing so many things that I remember my parents had and used in the late 60s and 70s. Wow!
AlwYs enjoy! Be well and be safe!♥️🙏💞🤞🏻✌️🙏♥️
Hi George... I certainly appreciate all the history you know of each of the different items. It means so much more than the item itself. Wish antique stores would provide more info about their items as it provides for more interesting shopping! I appreciate all your knowledge. They don't make most things with quality anymore unfortunately.
Little man Dalton showing up with mama Kat 💞 he's growing up so fast!
It’s great to see so many types of antiques I’ve never seen before. Thank you George.
Hi George,
Sorry in advance, for the long text. 😅
You are so sweet and kind to those of us that are trying to venture into their passion and love for vintage and antiques. Thank you for featuring my little spot. I plan to start soon with my eBay store, “Cottage Collectibles”. I have recently retired from a real estate career, selling new homes. And new homes need these beautiful antiques to separate them from the everyday mundane copy cat stuff that is out in the retail stores.
I’m so excited to get started and maybe even have a utube channel one day. Everyone that has started a channel, say, their only regret was not starting sooner. I think I’m a little scaredy cat! 😉🤣
George, I firmly believe, those that help others help themselves. I believe your popularity is expanding due to your generosity and knowledge. Your vast knowledge is helpful to those that specialize in different areas. I like it all, glass, pottery, china, art, handbags, just anything that is unique or well made. I started going to antique stores when I was in my 20’s. While my friends were at the mall looking for the latest, trendiest, item to purchase, I was looking at and loving all the oldest stuff I could find. The only problem, I couldn’t afford anything. Prices today are so much more affordable.
I still can’t believe folks don’t look to purchase more from antiques and vintage to purchase quality and not have a home that looks like everyone else’s. The more quality, the more unique, the better. I love you George, and hope to see you again soon! ❤️
Hello,
Our family is a George fan, too.
I, personally, love how George introduces new people to the vast youtube following community!
Everyone I know prefers youtube to cable t.v.
His knowledge is so impressive.
And, the fact that he so graciously shares that knowledge just gives hope to humanity. Seriously! We need that today.
I hope that George has inspired you to take to the youtube community. I bet that you would be welcomed quickly.
I will be looking for your channel. I am sure George would give you a shout-out, too.
Good luck to you!
Sincerely, Di.
George! I used to manage a couple antiques/vintage stores in St Petersburg, and I remember chatting with you when you came in. You were always so friendly. It's great to see you here on UA-cam. I appreciate seeing your wealth of knowledge and detailed explanations - subscribed!
Oh thank you! I think I remember you now that I see your avatar better. I think you started there shortly after I moved out as a dealer
George, you’re the best! Thank you!
I love antiquing with you, George. There were so many beautiful pieces. The malt machines being thrown away was so sad to hear
George, I learn something new with every video! So many fun, interesting pretties! Thanks for the fun lessons. That mid century furniture is so amazing. When my best friend and I moved in together after high school, mid 70s, we had a set like the bucket chairs and table. Lots of memories.
I found one of those life size nativity cutouts from a lady that had them stored under a porch… was at her farm buying wooden crates and when I saw it I had to have it!! Got it for $20!! Everything was there and in perfect condition except for the camel… He was losing the graphics and his paper was peeling…. I had just started a booth in Poulsbo WA…. Once I got them home I saw they were SIGNED!!! I can’t recall the name right now but he was a famous mid century illustrator…. It sold in less than 2 days for $400!!! Which just told me I sold it too cheap! Lol I wish I could upload a pic… but that was a great great find!!! Thanks for reminding me! Oh and I used to live in Davenport just southeast of Mt Dora… sorry I never made it up there now☹️
Which store in Poulsbo? I've bought a lot of cool things there over time. What a cool find on the nativity stuff, great buy!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Red Plantation… I do think I might remember you coming into our store… I worked the desk for almost 5 years … and thank you!! I was super excited… wish I could remember the designers name 😬
Love the stangel 💗💚💗
Great outdoor show!!! Unique items!!! Your helpful knowledge sent us back in time!!! What an enjoyable afternoon!!! Thank u George!!! 💞💞🙃💞💞
oh my goodness those bronze angels for the garden that was out-of-this-world
Another informative video by George. If there is something you want about, just ask him. Thanks George!!
There were butternut trees in Missouri… my grandpa liked to go out in the woods and he would collect the nuts from the trees he had located for my grandma to use in her divinity! Best divinity I’ve ever had!!!
Hi George! Thank you
This looks like a fun market to shop! Such a wide variety of items!
Beautiful white patio set. So many things to love and purchase for your home. Appreciate all the videos. Blessings Always
I was in Mount Dora, FL years ago and still remember it as a wonderful place for antiques. I hope the summer theater is still there. It was also terrific.
Super interesting!!!! 👍👍 Great video George!
Thank you! So great to have another UA-cam content creator to share with here
Sick glass is very often a simple to remove salt deposit and very easy to remove with simple white vinegar. The astringent vinegar dissolves most salt stains instantly....including those on shoes and boots and winter outerwear.
That slave cradle was an amazing historic piece!
Did you know C. Alan Johnson lived on Bainbridge Island for many years? I know you are a fellow Kitsap Countian ;) I can remember him well from my childhood but didn't realize he made these figurines until I was an adult and a reseller. I love them so much and they sell very well for me up here near Seattle!
THE FOLSON PRISON BOX WAS MY FAVORITE😃
You make me think of a cross between Mr Rogers and Bob Ross. I mean that in a good way!❤ You have a great channel! I learn a lot here!😊
Lol I need to get Bob Ross' afro though!
I must watch this again. So many beautiful interesting items.
Thank you, George!
The quality of the merchandise in today's video was absolutely incredible! This is far better than most big shows with their tediously repetitive dealers with their sky-high prices. I could have filled a 24 foot truck with all the incredible merchandise you showed.....I must have hit rewind a dozen times.
You should have flipped over the Flip Wilson doll Geraldine was on the other side. Geraldine was Flip Wilson's alter ego.
Yes, and I've seen those before, should've thought of it!
Texas was still a republic in that map!
Yes, they were admitted in 1846, the same year that the boundary between Oregon Territory and British Columbia was set
For display purposes only, I would buff 'sick glass' with car polish or a good liquid furniture polish.
Hi George! It's always such a treat to shop with you!
❤️Maddy
WOW, they had some terrific pieces and the prices were good! That "stacker cabinet" was something else, never seen that combo of ideas on one piece. Loved every minute George, thank you!
Thank you George for all the education and content I learn so much from you and your channel 🇨🇦🫶😃💕👍
RE: 16:35 I would think that a "loved" carnival glass piece would hold some of it's value, while I can appreciate that a pristine (unused) piece would command top-dollar, there's a certain charm to knowing a piece was actually used for the purpose that was intended.
Well I can’t dispute that!
Just two cents…
Great video George. Very interesting pieces highlighted. Thank you.
Thatt slave cradle was fascinating! Of course I had to go to Google and read all about them.
George, I appreciate your knowledge
Amazing George!!!👍💕😃
Many thanks!!
Love those lucite chairs
so much good design
Fabulous show thank you
Hi George! Loved all the 60s treasures, especially the "Devo" lamp and wall sconces and the fiberglass 3-globe lamp at 5:50. As always, I really enjoy listening to you and have learned so much😃
When you were showing the restaurant milkshake mixers the memories of my local restaurant came to mind. It was a Bobs Big Boy restaurant. My mouth dropped open when you mentioned that many of those mixers wound up at the dump. But even more surprising was that it was a Bobs Big Boy. Lol! Loved your video. 👍🏻😊
That was a beautiful butternut piece. The reason that it is similar to walnut is because it IS walnut, white walnut as opposed to black walnut. Butternut trees grow in Illinois (I gathered them as a kid). They also grow in Missouri and Arkansas.I don't believe they're very common anymore.
Hey George, saw so many things I would love.
That was fun... thanks for the tour and info ! 👍👍
I wish you had gotten Native American miniature pot. I live in the country and have rustic Native American, Southwestern style in my home.
I have several miniature pots currently! I can set you up
@@TheAntiqueNomad yes I would like to see what you have!
@@yvonnesangster2934 please send an email so I get up on my pulls list theantiquenomad@gmail.com
Love listening and following you! I learn soooo much from you! You're like a book of knowledge!! 😊 Totally appreciate you! 🌻
Hi George 🌹 Thank you for taking us along ❤️I am looking for a pair of Big Wagon Wheels (not as big as the Pair you showed)I am setting them on each side of my steps to use as a grab rail.
That was great fun! Thank you for taking us along. 😊
Your knowledge amazes me!
George wow that was absolutely an amazing show. Thanks.
Dalton’s not letting go ! So cute
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
If you are in Florida, nifty vintage is now living there
Coming soon he is!
Hello George finally got out of work 🐈⬛🙂👋
👋 Congrats!
Awesome video George- I love to learn from you!
I inherited a set of 4 of the cup and saucers like the pink with the butterfly handle ($600.00) @12:45. Mine are different colors… blue, peach, aqua, and pink. Two have rose handles.
Thanks George!
I live in Pennsylvania and have a butternut tree in my yard. Thank you, I learn so much watching your videos.
The dump! Omg…talk about four letter words.
Hi George, I just started watching you and you are a wealth of knowledge. Do you sell at the Palm Beach Antique show? I see you like pottery and it made me think of a famous potter in Canada Mary Borgstrom. Have you seen the series on you tube “The potter’s house” it is on the Curiousity Inc channel? I think you would enjoy the content.
Fun one🤗
That apothecary cabinet tho! Butternut!! 😍😍😍
Love Mt.Dora! And George, you're the best!
❤❤❤
Love shopping with you!! You are amazing!
I use a Mr clean pad w just water n usually get dried on crud off n out of bowls it works amazingly.
Those are surprisingly effective sometimes!
George, you bring much fun and knowledge to your videos! Thank you
Love the lamp
What a beautiful wood ice box. If I had a large home, I would buy something like that. Thanks for the tour. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, amazing show with so many varieties of vintage treasures!
Well I live in north Florida and it’s my fault I didn’t know you were in Florida 🤓 Nice video I always learn something
❤❤❤ thank you, George!
The signs that have Mathers written in French is in st.eustache , Quebec. There’s the huge quarry, a drive-in that still shows movies and which holds a huge flea market too during the day. The best place to find all the “good junk❤️”. Definitely a place to check out if you ever visit Montreal.
Glendale, West Virginia, had the best flea market for a long time, which was located at the drive-in also.
It was then turned into a place to store equipment and now is cleared out again.
I sure hope that Glendale brings back that flea market.
Great video! Thank you.
The wall sconces at 5:31 , in eighth grade metal shop class we’d make similar ones, I wish I’d had saved mine. Another great video from you thanks for bringing us along.
What a fun video! Loved seeing Kat and Dalton, too.
There is some beautiful stuff there. I really like both the 1900's hutch and then the one in butternut wood too. My favorite is the one that has all the drawers and looks similar to a barrister bookcase. Those are all very nice pieces. Thanks for sharing and you have a great day
Oh I really love this video the stuff I’m looking at I will never see again love you for showing us all the wonderful things
Loved the video the crib was really interesting lots of beautiful things
Hey, George! You just popped up on my feed. Maybe because I have been going through boxes of old stuff! I have a pretty good Bakelite Bangle, and charms and bead collection. I lived most of my life in Florida, Gainesville, St. Augustine and Key West. For the past six years I have been in the North Carolina mountains at Franklin. Enjoyed several of your videos! I did shows with Sports Cards, Autographs ( especially Astronauts and Aviators and Atomic Bombs ). Oh yeah, Coins and Star Trek Cons were a family weekend. Then I went through by Chicken phase and raised fancy birds for Farm Swaps. As I get older, I have found myself Rockhounding around the country. The past two summers I hunted along the Michigan coasts for Yooperlites and Copper. I grew up In Gainesville, finding shark’s teeth in my creek. Now, I travel to Virginia for huge fossil shells. Lately I have been refinishing furniture which is a lot of fun. I need to list some trinkets on eBay. Gotta get someone to teach me how to print shipping labels! Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
WowWowWow 🤟🏾. GreatFinds 🙌🏾💯
2:12 -- oh my gosh George! I have a very beautiful lacey looking one of these, & I thought it was a different/wierd clothes hamper! You are a wealth of knowledge!!
Great explanation of all of the objects
Great video and I love fish chicks finds t shirt x
I really need to take a trip to Florida. Jeffrey from Real Nifty is moving down there as well. I could visit quite a few thrifters. 😃
I really enjoyed your video. And meeting some faces to go with the names of people we see was so nice.
Nurse flipper looks a lot healthier, the long pants jeans are a good look for her..
West Michigan has great furniture
I have several pieces of Alan Johnson. Love his stuff. Just picked up a perfect complete Seal Hunter at a thrift shop. I spotted him from the end of the isle. Washington State is close enough to Alaska so I find them occasionally.
Good evening, George! Loved the Victorian cranberry pickle condiment jar next to the Fenton swung vase. That ice box was phenomenal! I never knew any were made like that. I liked the chocolate set that was displayed on it, too. Those large crucifixes were nice. I have a large one like that. Loved the blue, decorated cordial set. Sometimes I think decanter/cordial sets would've been a better choice to collect, instead of the water, etc. sets...most of the decanter sets don't require as much real estate to display. Loved that rope, slave crib! I liked the Octagon soap crate. I have an old Ivory soap crate that still has its lid. I liked the stacking bookcase/desk/file drawers case, but I'd prefer one that is all shelves, (regular Barrister bookcase)...I need the display space. That oak, mirrored back cabinet, at $275.00, was a steal. Those Cupid Holding Lamp sculptures are a WOW!!! I'm not, at all, surprised at the price, either. Those were over-the-top phenomenal!!! That was a fantastic show!!! Thanks for the take-along!!!
Lol I was raised in the 60's w the term "icebox" loved hearing it again!!
@@twerkinthecityhuh6340 Those, during that period, actually had blocks of ice that were put into them as the way to cool food. Hence the name "icebox". That one was a fantastic piece.
How fun! Thanks for showing , curious how much that map in frame was!
