Skeleton Warriors Playmates Toy Action Figure Review

  • The Skeleton Warriors themselves consist of 5 characters, each one embedded with their own crystals that keep them skeletized. The toy line really shows off some amazing detail in the bones here and the textures on the fabric. Compared to other Playmates toy lines like Earthworm Jim and the Toxic Crusaders, the Skeleton Warriors are a very distinct departure from ‘bright and colourful’.

The Legion of Light - The good guys from the Skeleton Warrior franchise, were never released down under and frankly, why bother? The Skeleton Legion are clearly the highlight of the toy line and Playmates did an amazing job capturing the personalities of these brutal skeletons. It’s a shame the series never reached it’s second season (of the cartoon and the toy line), because we were in for some very cool figures. Skeleton Warriors really tried to branch out on its own and managed to create some really nostalgic memories for me.

It's amazing how much paint these older figures have.

The toyline and cartoon were both really good for the time. This franchise deserved so much more success.

The ORIGINAL Baron Dark looks AMAZING in its sculpting, along with all the rest of the figures... but that newer kickstarted figure? it looks SO BLAND in comparison.

I loved the tv show! Was really disappointed when they canceled the show so quickly.

Some great-looking figures! I think Aracula is my favorite.

Yeah, got to agree with that. It feels like, even with the TMNT lines, there's always a few stand out figures and a few they skimp on a bit. Aracula looked like he got a lot of love.

The good guy figures are actually really good too. The Skeletons got the detail but the humans got the articulation.

This figures are soo good, even after soo many years they are soo good looking. The only thing that draggs them are the crappy accesoryes but the WarHorse is really awesome for the display.

Being a fan of MOTU, I was so excited as a kid to see these toys and cartoon. Such a waste that it didn't last longer yet shit like Power Rangers is still going!

Haha, becoming an adult... It's been crazy to see what a big difference marketing makes :P I probably mentioned it in the video, but I never even knew about the cartoon, and it seriously surprised me that is was pretty decent :P Thanks for the comment.

I have two of those horses, they are awesome! I thought they were far better than the Skull cycles. The Baron was the first figure from the line I got too. The human figures are actually pretty good and well articulated for the time. What they lack in cool detailing they make up for with superior articulation the the skeletons.

I have been meaning to look into the humans. If I see them around Aus, I'd be on them :P Especially Grimskull.

Yeah, I know right. Who thought Skeleton Warriors would even attempt creating tortured, complex characters :P Grimskull is pretty interesting.

Man... I would love to tackle Biker Mice from Mars. I recently discovered the SNES game and I was really surprised by how good it could be.

I hated how small they made Aracula in the cartoon. The toy made him seem like the big muscle of the group yet he was nigh on a midget in the show.

    • @LeftoverculturereviewLeftovers
      @LeftoverculturereviewLeftovers  7 років тому

Probably cheaper to animate a midget, haha. I agree though, Aracula was always such a cool action figure, I don't think the show could have lived up to my expectations regardless.
