Hey, can't blame the show for taking risks, for the early 2000's. 2nd best CN show, altogether. Just behind the Sultan Of Slapstick, Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy. Never be mad at what catches your interest, or makes you laugh, am I right?
Dr. Zalost episode and ending was just stunning. A villain that seeks something so simple but essential as happyness. And the music, just the best one by far!
Man, the robot episode, the giant space squids episode and that episode where courage's parents were sent into space by that crazy scientist made me cry as a kid. Beneath all the psychological and cosmic horror, Courage had some really hard heartfelt and emotional moments and lessons.
This show is such an icon. I used to watch this everyday during dinner. I remember every villain but kinda forgot their names. The nostalgia to see them again after so many years is bittersweet. There'll never be a show like this ever.

I always loved how surreal everything was. None of the environments, physics, or logic in general really made sense; the only thing that did make sense was the humanity in each of the characters.
I understand Robot Randy's trouble here. He doesn't think he's good with his whittling, despite everyone else's words of affirmation. I myself have trouble putting my writing out there because I feel like it isn't good, but then I hear some comments about it and I realize, "Maybe it's worth putting out for the world to see".
5:50 I'm so glad you included the laugh part from Doctor Gerbil. I always loved that he mimics Courage here with his "I'm hurt" laugh and it always made the villain stand out to me. But finding clips of it, even here on UA-cam, was always such a challenge; they either cut it short after he started to fall, or it just wasn't here at all.
This show was legendary. I love every creator for helping form a big part of my childhood, no matter how small the part they played was. If any of them are reading this, thank you ❤
The friends should have been called up for round 2 in the dodgeball episode. It'd be sick seeing Kitty take on Katz, maybe have the alien ducks take on Le Quack, etc
I don't know exactly why, but in between hearing the Christopher walkenesque cadence of robot randy go from outright self-loathing to him wryly downplay the little he can whittle, and then proceed to shower them towering piles of wooden reindeer puts me into a snorting fit of laughter at the resolution. Cartoon voice acting on this show was so top-notch. It manages to be both wholesome while borderline-wickedly sarcastic in execution lol I agree with Eustace's annoyed reply: stupid robot doesn't even realize he is "worth less" bc he doesn't admit to himself how good he is at what makes himself happy enough to share with them 😢❤😊
I remember a lot of these! Robot Randy: Poor robot. It didn't ever really want to destroy things. Schwick: It was kind of funny seeing the exchanges between him and Eustace! Randy (thief): Don't remember this one too well... Monkey and King Kong: I came in at the ending here, so this is about as much as I saw. Federal agents: My memory on this one is fragmented. Maybe they sabotaged my memories... Doc Gerbil: * sings * It's Doc Gerbil's world! * normally* That tune is stuck in my head... Mustafa Al Bacterius: It was kind of creepy how this thing laughed to the camera when it did... Katz (candy maker): One of the few times Eustace actively participated in the rescue effort (sort of). Le Quack (hypnotist): Dog is good, duck is bad. Computer: I wouldn't necessarily call this a defeat... but at least now the computer seems to know (even if it lacks the emotional capacity) that some of these things are more involved than it initially thought. Ma Bagge: Geez, with a mom like her, it's no wonder Eustace turned out like he did... Golem: I don't remember this episode too much... Carmen: I wonder if she decided to get a singing career after that whole endeavor... at least Sharky (the captain) will no longer be pestering her. Kangaroo monster Eustace: One of the few good endings for Eustace. Brain visitors: Never saw this one... The Whip: My information on this one is very limited... Jeeves weevil: To be fair, if it wasn't for the whole sucking thing, he'd have been a great assistant. Harvest Moon spirit: I wouldn't call this defeat, but rather an appeasement. Ma Bagge (sand whale): I see where Eustace gets his greedy nature from... Dr. Zalost: My memory of this one is rather spotty, I've only seen parts of this episode.
5:03 this part of the episode really creeped me out. Despite the chase scene the only sound is the music with vocals it really set a spine shivering, skin crawling tone
Slavic origin yes, but it's from Croatian because John R. Courage is to precious and when he dose see the good in those who are hurt he'll do what he can to help his family or just a stranger who needs it. But there are those who can't be helped and all you can do is protect yourselves and walk away.
The episode with Carmen always stuck in my mind for some reason. Quickly after seeing this monster's true colors, he layed down his safety just to protect her. There are probably better episodes that showcase this but Courage really is a sweetheart.
