I am starting to follow your 1 hour practice routine and this will be invaluable for my Long Tone workout. Thank you Paul. I love this site, you explain everything simply for all standards 😀
Thats great to hear! Thanks Jan!
This is a great long-tone, exercise thanks
I’m adding this to my hour practice session
Thanks!
Took my breath away!
Ha! Yeah it’s not easy!
Such a great concept using backing teacks to make technique practice more enjoyable. Wish I'd done this when I used to teach guitar and piano.
Thanks Gareth!
I'm just getting back into learning to play and this was a great exercise. I can't explain it but out of all the UA-cam channels that teach Saxophone your videos just really make sense to me. Thanks.
Thanks Tyrone!
I practice this all the time now and it feels like it is making a big difference
That’s great, my next video will be a pentatonic scale workout, similar idea but for finger speed!
It becomes fun to play long tones!...Great...
Thanks Marcos!
I don’t know if you mentioned this in the video, but for people that are looking for this to be a little harder then try going from piano to forte and back to piano on each note :)
Absolutely!
Wow! this exercise has got me sweating. Really enjoying it thanks Paul.
Thanks Thurston, yeah this is tough one!
Thanks for that excellent lesson! Thats just the exercise I needed for the long notes. This will maybe help with the cover song that I'm playing in the band I'm in. My Saxophone parts are holding out notes in most of the song going to a crescendo with some of the notes and I bearly make it through the song, as I'v not had a lot of experience with these types songs. Im always learning alot from your lessons. Excellent channel Paul!
Thanks Steve! I’m sure it will help.
do it almost everyday, for me its essential to do the bounce he does, if you really put attetion theres a bounce, it really helps.
I enjoyed your lessons and I do see some improvement on my sound ,thank you very much.🕹🎭📣🎷🎷🎷🎼🎵🎙
Great to hear!
Very good help 🎷🎶
Thank You !
Thanks!
Thanks for this!
You’re welcome!
Great exercise. I’ve played Sax for years and never put much time into the long tones. I recently joined a band on Bari and it’s been a while since I played any sax at all so the breath support thing is killing me . I’m going to start warming up daily with this exercise I’m sure it will be a great help. Tnx !
Great! This will help a lot I’m sure.
Exactly the same issue for me! This warm-up exercise is really helping me to get my embouchure back into some kind of shape 🙂
I'm digging the harmony :-D
Thanks John!
Nice Channel and Playlist I start follow
Thanks Gabriel!
Very lovely information
Great lesson
Thanks Edmundo!
Great lesson !!

Muchas gracias...muy bueno
Gracias Carlos!
Thank you very much for your help I appreciate all your videos !
Thanks!
Nice idea.
Thanks
Hi Paul, I'm getting confused with backing tracks for tenor. The staring note is B for tenor in both tracks? Both tracks are starting with the same chord?
I have corrected those backing tracks now, if you download them again you should find they both start on B for the tenor sax.
Very good practice !!
Thank you !!!
You’re welcome! Lots more videos coming soon.
Hi, when you started the exercise on B, I had to pause and pull my mouthpiece back (tune lower). I always push my mouthpiece all the way in, thinking that would give me the B. Am I wrong or is there more to it? Many thanks.
You can vary how far you push the mouthpiece on the crook to change the tuning. The more you push on the sharper (higher) the note will be. In general you don’t want to push it all the way in but leave a couple of centimetres. You can use a tuning app to check if the notes you are playing are in tune too.
I am curious about the harmony … could you give me a hint?
Lots of chords! I don’t think I ever wrote them down unfortunately, but quite a few spicy ones in there! 😂
Do you have a pdf showing the fingering. I haven't yet learnt the low c# and lower notes
check these charts out: www.google.com/search?rlz=1CDGOYI_enGB738GB738&hl=en-GB&q=saxophone+fingering+chart&tbm=isch&chips=q:saxophone+fingering+chart,g_1:low:yux9Qmu1_Ic%3D&usg=AI4_-kRpA24UpCQoIQ-8hID7ahw8TmLGFw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjvluKit57vAhW0VBUIHevOBmUQgIoDKAB6BAgCEAY&biw=414&bih=720#imgrc=MHgg_x9xkCue3M

Paul, For the rising and falling exercises in the Fun Tone Workout, where is the printed version for tenor sax?
Hi William, for this exercise the written sheet music notes don’t change for tenor, instead you should download the tenor sax backing track, this will then be in the correct key to play with the PDF.
Hello Paul, I have been having problem selecting the right mouthpiece for my saxophone. Kindly help.
Hmm, it depends on quite a few factors, for intermediate players I would recommend a Yamaha 5c
After 7:37 is for Bb tenor saxophone right?
Would should we be striving for in this exercise? It simply can't be playing the note. Is having a tuner in front of us a useful thing to ensure we remain "on pitch"? How about volume control?
Incidentally, I just joined.
Hi Hugh, the main goal of the exercise is to play the note while keeping in tune with good steady embouchure and good breath control. Think of it as a plank exercise for your embouchure! Doing this with a tuner is also good, but try to use your ears more to hear if you are too sharp or flat, of course this takes time. You’ll be amazed at how much nicer and more controlled your tone will become with doing this exercise regularly.
Great to have you onboard Hugh! Any questions feel free to contact!
How can I make it harder?
Stand on one leg?
Only joking! Try slowing the video down, this will make the notes even longer
@@OnlineSaxAcademy 😂Thanks, I will
