- When fishing the Transkei or Wild Coast one of the main species you catch while fishing is Shad. Fishing for Shad can be really exciting especially when there is a big shoal of Shad around. I had some great Shad fishing in the Transkei. I hope you enjoy this Wild Coast shad fishing in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

How many of you use single hooks on your lures?
for certain species i'll go a single, especially if you want to release. I find using a stinger string instead of split rings and swivels with a single hook works better, always hooked in the corner of the mouth. trebles for shad and katonkel

I have a number of rods that I use. The one I use for shad is the Diawa Excellor 11ft. Great seeing another comment from you.....I am glad you are enjoying the videos.😀

What rod and reel are you using?
In terms of rods my light tackle rod is a Diawa excellor and the heavy is an Assasin Spin XH. I'd recommend a reel with a good drag that matches each rod. 30lb braid on the light 50lb on the heavy. @@wrennaidoo1013 if you look at the snow and weather you'll see this was filmed during winter, open season for shad, maybe watch the whole episode before commenting next time

Nothing Illegal here.....this video was filmed in August (Shad season is closed 1 October - 30 November), the two I kept were 41cm and 40cm (minimum size of shad is 30cm FL) and I have a valid fishing License.....😂😂😂😂 thanks for the comment and if you haven't yet don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss out on more videos..😉
