Agree, The Expanse is number 1. I kind liked Mandolorian, at least the first season, because it felt different for SW. Mixed feelings about Raised by Wolves with the hit you over the head bibilical references.
Not only is Dark one of the best sci-fi TV series in the last several years, it's one of the best sci-fi TV series ever. In fact.... I'd argue that it's one of the greatest TV series of all time. Never believe anything else 😉
I said this after finishing. This is the greatest show of all time. It has the best writing ever. And. It hooks you from the start. You have to pay attention. If you don’t. It may frustrate some people. But. Honestly. The ending. Damn. They nailed it.
@@alexzapf6422 Yeah. That ending and final scenes were... jaw dropping and stunning. And extremely profound. Oh. Fun fact: The final scene between Jonas and Martha in the series finale, was the final scene of the series, shot on the final day of shooting for the series. Cast and crew were behind the camera watching. 😉
I would vehemently argue that The Expanse got better AFTER it's weird Noir-styled first season. In fact, I thought each and every season of that show was better than the ones before it.
The video is ignorant to the fact that The Expanse was deliberate in having different themes in each season as it was tackling different theme directions. For The Expanse is 1, then followed Foundation. Not to mention that The Expanse is one of the most scientifically accurate sci-fi out there.
I have soft spot for the first 3 seasons because that was all there was for a while till Amazon picked it up, and it was very easy to rewatch them. Season 4 was great but being only 10 episodes instead of 13, binging it in weekend went way too fast. lol. loved Season 5, and Season 6 was great but you knew some stories were going to be left hanging so it was bittersweet.
@@CraigHocker Season 5, especially the final space battle is totally epic. Season 4 was not that great on first watch, but on a second watch I started to appreciate it.
I couldn't get into it at all. I watched the first couple episodes and it seemed like it was just more woke drivel being shoved down our throats, so I passed.
The new one held zero interest for me. In fact it kind of made me mad as I was hoping for a new season of the old show and not whatever that new crap is. Now if you are talking about the show called Dark Matter that came out several years back and was co-produced by Wil Wheaton, then I agree, that should be on here.
Thank you for your time. The Expanse was fantastic. Waiting for season 2 for The Last of Us. West World started fantastically, started season 3, and never finished. Severance was very good. Great cast. 3 Body Problem was good. Silo was great, second season coming. Foundation was great. Mandalorian was very good, but Disney sucks. Fall Out was very good. Dark was fantastic, so great.
The HBO/MAX Series WESTWORLD is very underrated because it is a deeply psychological/philosophical, sci-fi apocalyptic thriller that doesn’t dumb itself down to cater to a broader tv audience. It will be a sci-classic for generations.
i don't know what people enjoy so much in Dark. The expanse was so good. Foundation really good too. Andor so well executed. And very good and original Silo.
Having read the last 3 books, I think it makes sense that they left it at 6 seasons. It was a natural stopping point. I'm not terribly happy with some of the decisions the authors made with certain characters in the final 3 books which take place 30 years later. I think the TV audience would not have been happy either. It would have been better just to leave their stories after book 6 and bring in new main characters for the last 3 books to do what they wanted with them. The Universe is big enough for that.
@@CraigHocker Agreed. There are time gaps in the books where Ty and Dan could create whole new stories in the Expanse universe. The crew spend years doing odd jobs, primarily for the Belters but also for the UN. For example, there is a recent video game dedicated to Drummer and her crew.
The Expanse is exceptionally good and it’s a crime it was cut short. It’s light year’s ahead of everything else in this list save, Foundation. Number 10?! Do me a favour..
I don't agree that it was cut short. If you have read the final 3 books, it's clear that stopping before jumping 30 years was a great choice. I may be biased because those final 3 books didn't really thrill me.
A good series is watchable, while a great series is re-watchable. All the listed shows are probably worth viewing, but which of them do you seriously think are worth seeing again at all, let alone years from now? IMO, The Expanse and Foundation are clearly at the top of such a list, and For All Mankind should be there, too.
As a fan of the books, I really don't like the Foundation series. I wish they had stayed true to Asimov. As to which shows are re-watchable: The Expanse, Silo, The Mandalorian (1st season) The Last of Us. I haven't seen some of the shows. With 2 years between seasons in most cases, I will rewatch the seasons of my favorites to prepare for returns. I don't like that it's taking so long to get new season, but it is what it is. Severance bored me. Westworld was a confusing mess. Not on the list, but I liked it a lot (until the end of season 2): House of the Dragon.
“The Expanse” the most realistic Sci Fi series but Books are much better and they didnt recorded all books into series, 3 last wasnt put in series as I remember. "3 body problem" Chinese series is much better then Netflix no need to talk about books. And Foundation I need to read books but if writer of books is Isak Asimov what else to tell.
Caveat: there are elements of the Foundation TV show not in the books, the 'genetic dynasty' for example. I've read the books including way back the 'Caves of Steel' - those who know, know. The books are very talky, because Asimov wrote them as short stories, plus there are technological & societal changes that Asimov could not imagine. However imho I'd watch Foundation TV series before reading the books. Enjoy
The Chinese series was what I watched and it was good, but slow in parts, perhaps I found it irritating that the scientist took so long to catch on to the 3-body problem, as I have a background in nonlinear dynamics and it was discussing basically what was late 19th century mathematics. The original Foundation triology was part of my childhood. I think you are actually better off NOT reading the books because, one Asimov has pretty much zero character development, more about ideas and history, it was originally written to sell in serial form in magazines for young boys, the market audience. I remember the books being fantastic but I was young and haven't re-read them. The show has to develop character and story so it deviates a LOT from the books. Better to enjoy it as it is. I find myself getting irritated by some of the changes but to be honest, something had to be done to dramatize it for film.
Honourable mentions: - Stranger Things - Loki - Dark Matter - Counterpart - The Peripheral - Devs - For All Mankind - Andor - Tales From the Loop - Space Force - Outlander
what is worthy here is the comments related to the list, to see more suggestions, I myself enjoy sci fi series and I sometimes forget what I have seen my favorites from the list on the video are - Dark (all 3 seasons - no doubt why they call it mindfack) - Foundation (both seasons - haven't read the books) - Westworld (2 first seasons, I like most) - 3 Body Problem (1 season so far, NETFLIX) Missing from the list are - Raised by the Wolves (1st season is better than second) - DarK Matter (1 season so far) - Three Body Problem (Chinese Version, has too slow pacing till episode 20, more mystery, and a brilliand scene with the billiard at one of the first episodes) - Altered Carbon (only 1st season is worth remembering) Finally I have good memories from: - Peripheral (1 season only) Reading other's comments, I shall give ''Expanse'' another try, as I had seen the 7 first episodes and could hardly understand what was going on, or it was too slow for me, I cannot remember why I stopped it in the first place. So many comments about ''For All Mankind'', suggest that I should also give it another try. I can also suggest the perfect way to enjoy Dark for newbies: 1. Watch Season 1 2. Repeat 1 (=rewatch Season 1), in order to understand more 3. Watch Season 2 4. Repeat 1 and 3 (= (=rewatch Seasons 1 and 2 in a row), in order to understand more 5. Watch Season 3 ... So say we all ...
Dark is the absolute goat. When season 2 and season 3 started off I was like, “nah, they’re gonna f@ck this up”, they then proceed to totally stick the landing. 10/10. P.S. Andor should be top 5 for Luthen’s monologue alone. Beau Willimon written sci-fi FTW!
My thoughts exactly. The ending made this the greatest sci-fi show of all time. They did not subvert or do what would have made it a happier ending so to speak. It simply tied the story together.
What most of these series have in common: They had good early seasons *before* getting derailed by hamfisted messaging on the part of Hollywood writers/political activists.
Dark is probably the smartest television show to come along since the first season of Black Mirror. I was crushed to find that 1899 wasn't being continued, seemed like much of the same creative team was there, and the first season was incredible.
I think you missed the best ones - This is my list: 10) Foundation; 9) The Last of Us; 8) Station Eleven; 7) See; 6) Silo; 5) Andor; 4) Three Body Problem; 3) The Handmaid's Tale; 2) The Expanse; 1) For All Mankind;

Still waiting for Foundation to returm. Recently watched Dune The Prophecy which is kind of like Game of Thrones in space. Dissapointed they cancelled 'Raised by Wolves'. Think 'See' deserves an honorouble mention.

OA was a mystery thriller fantasy that didn't really succeed and definitely NOT Sci-Fi. Peripheral was good Sci-Fi and could have been on a top 10 list IF it had been renewed for a second season and on, to develop the premise, but since it was canceled, we will never know.
@@CraigHocker What a snarky response. Multi-dimensional travel seems like scifi to me. That's why Wikipedia lists it as "The OA is an American mystery drama television series with science fiction, supernatural, and fantasy elements". I didn't write The Peripheral deserved to be in the top 10.
Expanse- nope The Last of Us- medium Westworld- don't know, want to find out Severance- interesting, want more 3 Body Problem- nope Silo- very interesting, want more Foundation- nope Mandalorian- nope Fallout- very interesting Dark- nope, I don't speak German
As a fan of Azimov's original trilogy, I would have moved Foundation much further down the list, possibly having it fall of the bottom. It touches on the general premise of psychohistory, but diverts uneccessarily from the pages...I say uneccessarily, but really all of the divergences serve as opportunities for flashy special effects. This is readily apparent to viewers familiar with the novels. I would say Foundation succeeds only if you are not familiar with Azimov's text (which includes no generational clones or space elevators). But the CGI IS pretty, for those who care about appearances. Conversely, The Expanse is far too far down on the list. It is blessed with having the authors of the books as its showrunners, not leaving room for the pratfalls of Foundation. Silo is absolutely brilliant, thanks in no small part to Rebecca Ferguson's stunning performance. I am bitting at the bit for season 2. I feel similarly about Severance which becomes more and more disturbing with each episode. Can't wait to discover the point of the numbers and confessions. (are they killing people ?) I haven't watched Dark yet, so I cannot comment on whether I agree that it deserves its 1st place finish, but if I would have picked MY top spot entry it would have to be Ridley Scott's "Raised by Wolves" - the most unworthy series cancellation since Farscape. They ended it just as it had become absolutely addictive. It was disappointing not to see it even get an honourable mention in your list.
@@alfredthegreat9543 But all my friends who did not grow up with the original trilogy absolutely love it. Someone should tell Apple that changing an original to such an extent is sacrilege even if the unfamiliar like what you've done.
@@olafschluter706 The original trilogy could have worked fine if adapted as an anthology series with psychohistory as the binding thread over it's multi-millennial arc. I believe the very nature of the novels lend themselves to the episodic nature of television - albeit, it less friendly to television's need for a series-long character threads. (Then again, Ray Bradbury's 'The Martian Chronicles' was also episodic in nature and television REALLY screwed that one up.)

@@CraigHockerit wasn’t just about time travel. Also about alternate universes. And. There are no plot holes. Even with the Tim-alternate universe aspect.
Expanse should be at least top 3, drop Mando , replace with Raised by Wolves !
Agree, The Expanse is number 1. I kind liked Mandolorian, at least the first season, because it felt different for SW. Mixed feelings about Raised by Wolves with the hit you over the head bibilical references.
100%!
Oh man, Raised by Wolves was over rated
The Expanse and Dark (a masterpiece) are must watches.
Oh. Fun fact:
The final scene between Jonas and Martha in the series finale, was the final scene of the series, shot on the final day of shooting for the series.
Cast and crew were behind the camera watching. 😉
I'm really loving the presesntation voice for this video.. makes me want to watch every one of these 🙂
I would vehemently argue that The Expanse got better AFTER it's weird Noir-styled first season.
Agreed. The later seasons are really good. Season 5 is my favorite. Not sure what this video is talking about the story becoming less coherent.
What about Andor. Best Star Wars TV Show
Lol, no, its made with syrup..
Nothing happening for a season is a joke, the Acolyte was better than Andor..

THE EXPANCE, Should be on number one, not on 10! clearly a signal that whoever made this list hasn't watched it until the end
Your next list needs to have Dark Matter on it.
Which one? The new one or the Syfy Channel one?
@@nellstreitz6964 The new one on Apple+. It is a brain bender.
The new one held zero interest for me. In fact it kind of made me mad as I was hoping for a new season of the old show and not whatever that new crap is. Now if you are talking about the show called Dark Matter that came out several years back and was co-produced by Wil Wheaton, then I agree, that should be on here.
"The expanse" is a winer. And "falling skies" is a sure top 2 if we dont limit ourselves to the last 5 years.
Falling Skies was a huge disappointment. Only saving grace was Mira Sorvino...
falling skies amayzing show
Thank you for your time.
The Expanse should be #1, as many other people have said here. I'd remove Foundation and The Mandalorian; and add Andor and Sweet Tooth.
I agree. Andor should be on the list instead of Mandalorian. Mandalorian was only good for 2 seasons.
some animated sci fi at its best: scavengers reign, pantheon, arcane, to your eternity
True 😊
i don't know what people enjoy so much in Dark. The expanse was so good. Foundation really good too. Andor so well executed. And very good and original Silo.
Apple TV+ dropping hits left and right. Love to see it and hope it continues.
Agreed. Although, the bar has been low for some time now.😂
1. The Expanse 2. Foundation 3. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4. The Mandalorian
First 3 are perfect, Mandalorian is ..... Disney.

@@Nyssapearl how?
You missed "Halo". Superb show
Sadly we'll never get a live-adaptation of the rest of The Expanse story. There were 3 more books worth of story to be told.
They wait until the actors reach the age their characters have in those last three volumes. That's some decades.
The mother father son drama issue was sickening .
It went on for 4 episodes in a row .
I don't agree that it was cut short. If you have read the final 3 books, it's clear that stopping before jumping 30 years was a great choice. I may be biased because those final 3 books didn't really thrill me.
You seem to have got this list back to front. Surely you meant to put The Expanse as #1 ?
With 2 exceptions ive seen everything on this list. Excellent 👌
"Alice in Borderland" is a great sci-fi show on Netflix. Had no idea where it was going but the ending was perfect.
Thx for the tip, i'll try this one
I would easily replace Mandalorian with ANDOR
Loved your recommendations. Thank you
A good series is watchable, while a great series is re-watchable.
The only good part of Foundation is the Emperors plotline, so 1/3 of the show. The rest is just goofy
Honourable mentions:
- Stranger Things
- Loki
- Dark Matter
- Counterpart
- The Peripheral
- Devs
- For All Mankind
- Andor
- Tales From the Loop
- Space Force
- Outlander
I would also add "Altered carbon". But only season 1...
A good list and accurate critiques.
The problem with IMDB ratings is that it's owned by amazon...
Really, this is a joke right, The Expanse at #10, and Westworld above that??? Geez, I think maybe the world does need to end.
Exactly, Westworld started well with the first season, but it quickly became unwatchable by the 3rd season.
you put expanse on 10 .. and last of us on 9 ... we´re done talking :D lol
what is worthy here is the comments related to the list, to see more suggestions,
I myself enjoy sci fi series and I sometimes forget what I have seen
my favorites from the list on the video are
- Dark (all 3 seasons - no doubt why they call it mindfack)
- Foundation (both seasons - haven't read the books)
- Westworld (2 first seasons, I like most)
- 3 Body Problem (1 season so far, NETFLIX)
Missing from the list are
- Raised by the Wolves (1st season is better than second)
- DarK Matter (1 season so far)
- Three Body Problem (Chinese Version, has too slow pacing till episode 20, more mystery, and a brilliand scene with the billiard at one of the first episodes)
- Altered Carbon (only 1st season is worth remembering)
Finally I have good memories from:
- Peripheral (1 season only)
Reading other's comments, I shall give ''Expanse'' another try, as I had seen the 7 first episodes and could hardly understand what was going on, or it was too slow for me, I cannot remember why I stopped it in the first place. So many comments about ''For All Mankind'', suggest that I should also give it another try.
I can also suggest the perfect way to enjoy Dark for newbies:
1. Watch Season 1
2. Repeat 1 (=rewatch Season 1), in order to understand more
3. Watch Season 2
4. Repeat 1 and 3 (= (=rewatch Seasons 1 and 2 in a row), in order to understand more
5. Watch Season 3
Looking over the comments, The Expanse stand out as one of the best that's ever been aired.
The mother father son drama issue was sickening .
It went on for 4 episodes in a row .
What most of these series have in common: They had good early seasons *before* getting derailed
by hamfisted messaging on the part of Hollywood writers/political activists.
You forgot “DARK MATTER” on Apple TV. Another good one that should be on your list.
3BP, Silo and Foundation are my current favorites. Impatiently waiting for their next seasons.
Amazing job , many of them already seen .
Wow, I couldn't finish Dark but thx for putting the list together.
How can you NOT include "The Orville?"

Just finished watching Severance. Absolutely amazing. No violence just as I like it, sci fi and psychological.10/10 from me
Your list is upside down, the Expanse should be number one, perhaps equal number one with Dark.
The Expanse No.1. 💥💥💥💥
Silo is also great
What about 'For All Mankind' ?
Most of these are on Max or Apple+, which I don't have. 😞Also, V and Deliverance were 2 of my favorites of all time.
Man It’s not even close Dark is hands down the best sci fi series I’ve ever seen
I totally agree with Dark taking the 1st spot also I think its safe to keep "3 Body Problem" in the 2nd spot
Dark is probably the smartest television show to come along since the first season of Black Mirror. I was crushed to find that 1899 wasn't being continued, seemed like much of the same creative team was there, and the first season was incredible.
I think you missed the best ones - This is my list:
10) Foundation;
9) The Last of Us;
8) Station Eleven;
7) See;
6) Silo;
5) Andor;
4) Three Body Problem;
3) The Handmaid's Tale;
2) The Expanse;
1) For All Mankind;
The Expanse at 10. Okay...

From is not sci fi
@@CristianMolina Yeah I suppose it's not. It kinda feels a little like maybe some alternate dimension shenanigans could be in play but that's a stretch.

Why no Andor? It's a single season so far but MUCH better than the 2nd and 3rd of The Mandalorian IMO.
Foundation is my jam. I have read all the foundation novels and the complexity is unbelievable.
Yep, but the shows aren't on that level.
Only the Emperors plotline is great, and it's the only part which is not an adaptation from the books. The rest of the show oscillates between, mediocre, pure garbage and goofy scenes
Dark and Expanse are both brilliant, for very different reasons. I felt Foundation strayed so too far from the source material, it ended up just a CGI show pony.....looks good, but that's it.
Still waiting for Foundation to returm. Recently watched Dune The Prophecy which is kind of like Game of Thrones in space. Dissapointed they cancelled 'Raised by Wolves'. Think 'See' deserves an honorouble mention.
The Expanse, Dark, Silo are favourites. But hey dont forget Black Mirror!!!
Foundation has a great first season. The second season has some weaker episodes, but I admit it's pretty hard to adapt Asimov's original trilogy to a TV series. For his later novels it might be easier.
The screwed up story with edits so much that foundation and earth can't have the solution that was written.

OA was a mystery thriller fantasy that didn't really succeed and definitely NOT Sci-Fi. Peripheral was good Sci-Fi and could have been on a top 10 list IF it had been renewed for a second season and on, to develop the premise, but since it was canceled, we will never know.

The expanse was fantastic; it reached a complicated end that was the beginning of a new adventure.
(are they killing people ?)
I haven't watched Dark yet, so I cannot comment on whether I agree that it deserves its 1st place finish, but if I would have picked MY top spot entry it would have to be Ridley Scott's "Raised by Wolves" - the most unworthy series cancellation since Farscape. They ended it just as it had become absolutely addictive. It was disappointing not to see it even get an honourable mention in your list.
I cry at how they've taken Foundation and totally ruined it by turning it into some quasi-fantasy.
@@alfredthegreat9543 But all my friends who did not grow up with the original trilogy absolutely love it. Someone should tell Apple that changing an original to such an extent is sacrilege even if the unfamiliar like what you've done.
Asimov's Foundation, which appears as a collection of short stories to me bound by the psychohistory arc, would never work as a tv series.
@@olafschluter706 It could have been brilliant....instead of the Dune type knockoff Apple made.
TV shows based on games? That's sad.
Better than most of these, but NOT renewed for a second season, is "The Peripheral."

Expanse was the best space sci fi for decades.
Expanse should’ve been number 1. I understand people finding the mid seasons a bit slow or boring but it all ties in well and culminated in the final season being the best of all. Science & tech is the most realistic of any show. The most intense & mind blowing spaceship battle scenes with a beautiful heart pumping score/soundtrack to match from Clinton Shorter. Highly recommended if you haven’t watched.
Tribes of Europa! Massively under-rated
My order would have been different, but overall these series are really good. I'm also missing the series "Infiltration" from the top ten. I have no idea where I would put it, but it would definitely belong there.
