- Sniff'n the Tears - Driver's Seat 1978
Doing alright,
a little drivin' on a Saturday night
And come what may,
gonna dance the day away
Jenny was sweet,
show a smile for the people she meets
I'm trouble, let's drive,
I don't know the way you came alive
News is blue (the news is blue),
has its own way to get to you
What can I do (what can I do),
when I remember my time with you
Pick up your feet,
got to move to the trick of the beat
There is no lead,
just take your place in the driver's seat
Driver's seat, oohoo,
driver's seat, yeah
Doing alright, oohoo,
a little drivin' on a Saturday night, yeah
And come what may, oohoo,
gonna dance the day away, yeah
Driver's seat, oohoo,
driver's seat, yeah
Jenny was sweet, oohoo,
there is no lead, yeah
Pick up your feet, oohoo,
pick up, pick up, yeah
Pick up your feet, oohoo,
gonna dance the day away, yeah
Driver's seat, oohoo,
driver's seat, yeah
Driver's seat, oohoo,
driver's seat, yeah
Yeah
Driver's seat
(Instrumental)
Das war noch Musik wenn ich das heutige Gejaule höre 2023 wird mir schlecht
Crazy how a song like this can transport you to another time in your life..
Dejaview
How can anyone not like this song? One of the top classics ever. You got to hand it to the drummer to keep this fast paced beat throughout the entire song. Try it yourself...not easy to do..
I always thought the same thing; how does the drummer do it?
Absolutely one of the all time classics!!!!!!!!! I listen to this hit all the time!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!
I love all the beautiful comments on this classic I'm sure my dearest friend lou who's the drummer on this fantastic record would be proud of this accomplishment of pure gold ❤
He kicked ass.
no wonder people say these guys are one hit wonders
HOW THE HELL DO YOU TOP THIS MASTERPIECE ?
Paul und sein Meisterwerk superklasse gesungen. Ich könnte es den ganzen Tag hören. Paul sieht so süß aus in seinen schönen Hemd.
1978 to prime commercial 2021.Just proves that 70's music never gets old! Love the 70's! PEACE✌LOVE. GROOVY MUSIC HANDS DOWN
The seventies seemed so lighthearted and simple compared to today. The great songs from the fifties, sixties, seventies never get old.
The 70's -80's seem mild compared to today.
This song has aged like the finest wine.....
One of the best songs ever. Ever.
One of those songs that will never lose its appeal to me
Still here 2024 forever class song..
One of the top 25 tunes of all time...that's saying a long, but it's the simple truth.
Late 1979 I made a road-trip from BC-Canada to Florida-USA. This song got a lot of airplay on the radio during that period. Perfect rocksong; also brings back a lot of travel-memories.
Great song! Really cool! Never gets old.
1978. My Wife and I just bought a 1969 Camaro Convertable. She Looked Good in The Drivers Seat :) We Were Only Married a Year. Great Memories !!!!! 43 years Were Did They Go !!!!! Were Divorced and I sold the car lol. Life Goes On. I Bought Another Convertable. I am in The Drivers Seat. lol. Drive On People Life is Sweet :)
I have loved this song, since I was 13 (1978) and skating to it at Skate Ranch, in Raleigh. What good memories this song brings back!! It's truly one of the best, back in the day songs.
These guys do a phenomenal job live, as well! I find it interesting that the lead singer never smiles. He seems to be a person who is deep in thought. Nothing wrong with that!
The skate ranch in Raleigh? OMG!
Why didn't I love this in 78 when I was 18?
One of the coolest, most unique songs ever.
My all time favourite song. A timeless classic! Oh how I wish I could travel back in time.
It’s 2023 and I’m hearing this masterpiece!!! 😎
I love this song! It's really incredible that it became a great hit single during the disco era!
perhaps the best one hit wonder ever!!
I can't believe it's 2013 and I'm hearing this! I love this song and it reminds me of how free i was in the "Drivers Seat".Free of worries and politics and the day to day usual BS!

ABSOLUTE Classic!!!
I loved this song . Brings back memories of island hopping in Greece in the late 70's when this was played in every bar . Ah those were the days of being young , single and carefree . I have'nt been back to the islands of Paros , Ios , Naxos , Santorini since then but one day I will return . Get the Ouzo ready .
My teenage years were great listening to songs like this.
Thumbs up if you knew & loved this song BEFORE Boogie Nights.
now believe me, thats what i call music, they had sooo much potential, and yes it sounds great still, i couldnt wait to go out and buy the album, it didnt have all the shirll alot of rock had, i think they could have done so much more, this is one of those timeless songs that will work anytime, they rocked,
This is a beautiful song no doubt
365 just like me are you my brother? I loose my GF , my true and lonely love. That song make me cry to day even I AM 62!!
Underrated band. Their greatest hits CD is tremendous.
I got order it.
Sensational single . These guys should be proud if they produced nothing else in their lives. Production fantastic too - lots of thangs going on and melodies/counter melodies.
And bone crunching guitar 🎸.
Criminally underrated band.
Rock and roll.hall of fame.should be.
Another great song from the late '70s.
They could stand on their heads naked for all I care and play. The song itself hits home for me during a grieving period. Recent widower.
I would rather listen to this tune on a constant loop than listen to most music of today.I try to get my kids into the older jams and they seem to be into it.
One of the awesome songs from this era
what a great song!!
One of the greatest one-hit-wonders of all time!
WOW! BLAST FROM THE PAST! THIS IS AWESOME! I love this!!!
Best song of all time!

Quite simply......a "classic"
MEMORIES!! Love it 2021 here!!

Paul sieht soo süß aus und Singen kann er super .
Man, I wish the Glacier Glasses Black Dude was in this.... He made the Video!
...Right? He was awesome :)
Totally. Who is he?
Noel McCalla
Somewhere I read that NOEL MCCALLA went on to be lead singer in a later reincarnation of MANFRIED MANN'S EARTHBAND. Blinded by the light anyone?
I liked him too. Did falsetto and then switched too deep bass.
Happy Birthday song when I was a kid it wasn't a big head but still a classic
Q107 in toronto plays this in their rotation thankfully.
I love this song. Art Bell ..... RIP 🙏
Great song, great memories.
En este momento acabo de descubrir esta hermosa cancion y raro grupo. Parte de mi evolucion y no envolucion musical.
One of my favorite songs in life. Also in the movie Boogie Nights.
first heard it at 6 years old, unique song, once you hear it, it stays with you forever!
does this group still play/tour ?
Few songs take me back to the late '70s like this song......
Great song for driving
I Love them. for. ever. ❤❤❤
From the golden age of America
For those of you who say great music was only made in the past and everything today is rubbish - I have one word for you: DISCO. This proves that plenty of rubbish was made in the past as well. People in the late 70s would have been saying the exact same thing about the current music, as people today are. That said, this is a great song and surprisingly one of the few non-disco songs of the era??
I got 3 speeding tickets 🎫 listening to this song the best song ever
The Greatest Pop Song Ever Recorded .
The summer of 1979
I
God, this song reminds me of dating a guy from Dallas, he flew me down for a weekend, it was so hot and windy, at night it would cool off a bit, he had a red 'vette and we're dancing at this club, Mother Blue's, we danced, drank, then we got in his "little red corvette" and this came on the radio. We took the freeway 'n drove so fast felt like we were flying. I took him home 'n gave him a nite he would never forget. When I hear this it's a hot summer nite 'n I'm in a red vette with my lover.
We're doing alright
A little jiving on a Saturday night
Come what may
Gonna dance the day away
Jenny was sweet
She always smiled for the people she'd meet
On trouble and strife
She had another way of looking at life
The news is blue
It has it's own way to get to you
What can I do?
I'll never remember my time with you
So pick up your feet
Got to move to the trick of the beat
There is no elite
Just take your place in the driver's seat.
As per the lyrics posted for this amazing tune, I also thought for over thirty years that the lyric in the opening verse was "A little DRIVIN' on a Saturday night", however after some research from a couple reliable music sources, I confirmed that the line is "A little JIVING on a Saturday night".
Both work anyways
She had another way of lookin’ at life
what a great post!
@FrevrYng07 32 years. This song can still bring me to that day. She was a soul mate and I went on to have 2 more. I call them soul mates for a reason. They enter for a reason. When you are with a soul mate you know cause of these types of events. I never was one to jump from one to another, there has to be that look in her eye. I have many touching events that prove my theory true. I'm single at the moment but LOVE will find her way to my heart again-always does.5 years now. Takes time
Incredible video. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
In 1979 I was broke up with my GF. I was so in love with her. I walked around like a zombie, I was so heartbroken. I was in my 71 cutlass "442" dropping off something at the cleaners. A song came on the radio so I thought I would take a ride and listen to it.After it ended this song came on so I decided to ride further. I stopped at a 7-11.Coming out I look up and there she is leaning on my car. We hugged and cried together-seemed like 4-ever.To this day this song reminds me of that fateful day
Killer song...
Great Story 365degrees, everytime I heard this song I started Driving FASTER What memories!!!!!
What better way to spend time.
Amazon Prime commercial reminded me of how damn good this song is.
wow, great song that I had forgotten about..thanks !
Captured for checking
BTW- it is "...a little jiving on a Saturday night." Until last year and for 35 years before that, like most people I also thought it was "...a little driving...." They are referring to going out and dancing. Regardless, it is a great song that stands the test of time.
Bill Hearn Thank you for the clarification for years i thought it was driving now i know it was jiving
no way,,, that's awesome,, tell him he rocks,,great band from back in the day
esta cancion me trae recuerdos de mi adolesecia
I'm in tears.so glad to hear it again.
@GrumpyMadman I reckon you're right. I think that verse goes "Jenny was sweet, she'd always smile for the people she'd meet. On trouble and strife, she had another way of looking at life". Great one for the songbook, only 3 chords Bm A (G).
excellent song for drive a
car
i was dating a mailman back in these days, and living in davenport iowa!!! ahhhh, those were the days.....young and beautiful....now i'm old and more beautiful!!! uh huh!!!!
Agree about the memories Fran....didn't do so well in the charts as it should have done, no doubt because on New Wave!
