Oh! What a party of emotions and memories this brings back. I feel young, happy, beautiful again 💖
Great music, unlike today's songs which all sound the same
Graduated from high school in 1979. That music sounds as good as it ever did.
Thanks for posting !
I graduated from High school the same year!
@@davidsiegfriedklinger2422 Me too.
Me too
'78 here, but 79 may be THE best music year!
1979. Can another year be better???? increíble, amazing!!
yeah - everything prior
79 was the year after I graduated. Yep - agree, maybe THE best year!
Thankyou S.R.G.Brings back good memories of a better time.🙂👍💖
I was 9. Grew up with all these music on the radio, friends and friends of my older brothers.
Still remember bringing a friend to listen to the new LP just purchased. That was dedication!
I agree.
I had forgotten how good these are. I sure miss the old days.
That's why we're still ' in love ' with music...
Now,it just might be the old days even though it seemed like yesterday!!
1979 Songs - Wow! such a wonderful way to end a decade. Lots of golden greats.
Yes! I remembered it was a good year, but didn´t remember it was THIS good! My gosh, how many great tracks originates from that year. And the most funny thing is that I remeber 99 % of these very well (unlike some latter years songs).
Wow great tunes, I lived the 70's and they were the best of times. I remember almost all of those songs. What great music the rock to and also to dance to. Great stuff
I was born in 1979, and I must say, I am blown away at how music has gone downhill, and how far it has travelled.
In 1979 I was in 5th grade and heard most of these on radio. Fond memories.
@@RoughJustice2k18 ~ I was 5th grade myself in early 1979. Then went into 6th during 1979/'80. One of my favorite years in school...
@@Deborahtunes Same here. I feel so damn old!
Yes, but also the "coked" out generation. Many of them admitted to doing their best work on drugs.
The 70s and 80s were amazing decades for music; every song sounded different and is unique in its own way. Majority of the songs today all sound the same and predictable ...🤔🎼🎵
70's & 80's was fantastic music, great bands, it was a fun era.
Und heute ? regiert die Political Correction Welt :-(
Absolutely my dear 🙏
1979! my 1st year out of school, I thought the world I could rule!
The music that played those days, was special in our lives!! You can remember exactly what you were doing then!!!!
BIG H Huddinni, you're right brôh, recall the past things we did!
79 was my first full year out of high school. I miss those days as they were more easier to get through. Way better than 2020.
I graduated in 78 as well, then bootcamp and then 1979 was my first year taking on the world!! Best memories ever!! Best music to spread your wings to!!
78 here. 79 was FANTASTIC!!
Fantastic compilation! I was in college at this time, such great memories! Thank you for sharing!
What a year for music! I just turned 18 and I have witnessed so many good songs that year. Many of them I had on singles❣🥰
Great, danke dafür , Abba , Boomtown Rats, auch Leif Garrett ,Bee Gees waren einzigartige Begleiter in einsamen DDR- Nächten.
Nice mix. Some songs brings the feel of end to an era and some brings the feel of what to come.
I encourage all to watch & listen to the top 100 for 1979 and all of the other years in the 60's, 70's & 80's...… Back when Music was cool and great...!
We would sit up on new years eve and listen to the top 100 every year back then! Thanks for reminding me
1979 was the greatest year for pop music ever.
No 1978 was😊
@@Alan-vf9bz up to about 1978 then downhill from there and still falling. The 70's, best time to grow up in. The world sucks now
No. Was 1984. In second, 1985. 3rd: 1979
@@torresdeapolo I guess it depends what years you grew up in. I graduated in 76 , lived in Jacksonville, Fl. Grew up listening to the real Molly Hatchet, The real Lynyrd Skynyrd , Blackfoot, They were all local bands . Then there was ZZ Top, Zeppelin Bad Company etc.etc.
@@ghomsey5372 I'm 25 yro.
So, the year won't influence me.
WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC ✊🏾
AWOMON😀🇮🇳😀🇮🇳😀
I agree with you
70's Forever 😍
Love those songs.❤️ So many great tunes in 1979. Thanks for posting.😊
Ohhhhh my god. Wonderfull musicccccccc! I adore it
thanks much 🙂👍 the year i was born ❤
This is when I started to appreciate real music! Love it! 💖💖💖
Best year in music hands down!!! A perfect time to be 19 yo single in the Navy. First duty station Stockton CA
Amazing experiance great memories!!
It's subjective so I don't always agree, but I appreciate someone took the time to gather these. Still strange in 1980 I was listening to this new group "The Police" who was considered "Alternative/pop music".
Excelente selección. Me llevaste a la época de oro de la música del siglo XX. Lo compartiré mucho😉

1979...we had rock, disco, punk, new wave ,soft rock.soul music..what more can you ask for? We will never have this again!!
Totally agree and every song sounded different and unique in its own way!!!
And variety
Yes, transition year.
Excelent compilation of 1979. In that year ABBA was the best band in the world
Probably still are!!!
Supertramp and Bee Gees were also enormous this year.
Aaahh, I feel nostalgic! I was sweet fifteen when all of these hits were topping the charts! I wanna cry of the emotion! 😓😭😰
Thanks for creating album snips per year....my mother is deceased, however I wanted a sense of the times and maybe her mindset. I absolutely get it now!!!!! Again thank you so very much. Love, Meg
I remember Another brick on the wall being on Q107 Toronto top 7 at 7 being number 1 for a very long time.
I remember just lying in bed waiting for this amazing time.
I turned 12 in July of 1979.
You are killing it with each year.
Thanks so much.
Great year for ELO = biggest selling album-Discovery and 4 top ten singles.
I wish it was still 1979 🥰❤️
Me too, it was EPIC!
Wow. Some classics there. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks For Sharing!
ABBA, BONEY M, FREDDIE MERCURY, Bee Gees in their prime - I am having such a good time, I am having a ball!
Michael Jackson first adults hits begin here.
Don't stop me now
Y Supertramp!
oh what an amazing time to be alive The year I entered freshmen in high school, some of my best memories of my life back in the summer of 79.....got my first car (62 impala SS) , my first real girl friend , my first real job ...etc ...time flies ....I need a time machine to revisit those days !!
What a good year for music
Off The Wall great,I believe it kicked off the 80s boom box era!!
One hell of a good year for music, many of them where part of my musical awakening, supertramp, elo, billy joel..
Double thumbs up for not excluding Pop Muzik! :)
And the B52's ''Rock Lobster'' surely has to be in a best of '79 list ;)
THE RED LOBSTER was released in 1978 ,,
Great tunes. 1979 fun year.
1979 So many great songs & genres intermixed going in to the 80's Motown & new wave&Rock & easy listening.my dad was an audiophile & recived Columbia House records. We did not have Cable yet, but we had RADIO 📻
40 years ago and still sounds great.
The greatest year of all time so many memories
It's the year of my born..
41 now
I agree
1979 was Donna Summer and ABBA's year 💖
Y Supertramp y The Police
Using a Points System, for the UK Singles and Albums Charts, Blondie were the biggest Chart Act of 1979. ABBA were 2nd. ABBA were 1st in 1976 and 1977.They were also 2nd in 1978 and 1980. It would be a similar ABBA success, if you combined the Singles and Albums Charts of the UK, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, etc. for 1976, 1977, 1978. 1979 and for 1980 - ABBA would be in the Top 3 World Acts every Year...Blondie, Bee Gees and Boney M, were only able to be that big for about 2 Years each...
Before ABBA, it was The Beatles an the Rolling Stones being in the Top 3 World Acts, for several Years. Before them Elvis Presley.
Not forgetting Queen and their 1975 to 1977 hugeness around the World. Then further Queen hugeness in 1979 to 1981 and 1984, 1991 and 1992 etc.
And The Cars
My personal favorite is The Knack’s “My Sharona” which I associate with my 1979 high school graduating class ❤️
I personally associate "My Sharona" with the 1994 film, "Reality Bites". But, I'm GLAD that that film revived "My Sharona's" mainstream popularity!
The Knacks were great. We3re did they go?
@@johnkuipers7829 mtv took over
Damn you’re old
John Kuipers they broke up and lead singer died
My earliest memories are piling into the station wagon and listening to this stuff on the 8 track player with no seatbelts on.
thanks for doing this I hope you will continue before 1974! such a great year!
Absolutely brilliant
Quanta nostalgia 😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😭!!!!! La gran voglia di ritornare!!!!! Queste si che erano musiche uniche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sempre al top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I graduated from high school in 1979. Married my HS sweetheart. We were big Jeff Lynne/ ELO fans and saw them live three times. Married 41 years, but he went to Heaven in 2021. These songs feel like it was just yesterday.
That's very sad. '78 for me. GIANT ELO fan. Hope you're doing OK.
So carefree, I recall 1979 very well, I was blessed.
All of it! Gotta keep it playin' Thank you:)
Amazing time for music. What a mixture. I forgot a lot of these and there’s a lot I don’t remember ever hearing. I was only 13 then so I guess I’m more surprised by how many I do remember
Really a very good job; very thorough and kudos on finding a way to make so many diverse sounds actually sound pretty cohesive! I miss those times, so much!! ....definitely because of the music, but, now that we're we are now, I miss a lot more from that time. life WAS different then. it WAS better then. And that is damn sad to me.
Ignorance was bliss, is one way to put it. Thanks for stirring up tons of great memories!
must be overwhelmed by so many epic music pieces flying around you in 1979, thank god I was born this year
No lo puedo creer, temas musicales de los años de nuestra juventud son recordados hoy en dia,y con los años se han convertido en un tesoro que se cotiza en oro puro.Y hoy en dia son inolvidables.
Five major hits from ABBA in just one year!!!! Why can't we have epic bands like that today? 🤔
@ted ritola probably true, however having autotune has nothing to do with writing good melodies and amazing songs! In general, globally few musicians write classic melodies anymore; as a musician I sadly feel this.
Great music better times 👍
Thanks for the music
When recording contracts were given only to those who could sing live. No auto tune here.
The first year I started buying vinyl records. I was fifteen years old. 😍
You can’t beat 1979 for music.
🎶🎶🎶 We are family 🎶🎶🎶
will i have one time machine?back me to 1979 and never come back....wounderful times
Another great year for ABBA. 2021/2022 again......

Crazy how so many classics were released within a mere 365 days...
Incidentally, "Video Killed The Radio Star" was the very first music video to EVER air on MTV!
Oh, I thought Dire Straits was.
@@johnkuipers7829 that was mtv europe
I watched it...was strange...it was new
Jeff Zebert sadly I remember watching that. Reminds me of how old I am. MTV was great back then.
I’ve known this for years. People still look at me with a raised eyebrow when I tell ‘em.
Woah! I can’t believe all these gems in just a year!?
They were ALL RELEASED IN 1979 ,,, I WAS THERE IM 19 YEARS OLD
I was only 4/5 yo but amazing how many of those songs I remember hearing through the years. Great distraction for the craziness of today.
I only remember a few of those songs. The wall was the best. I was 16 in 79
The Wall is a classic. The music has different meanings throughout the years.
Where were you / where are you ? I was 14 that year & there wasn't many I didn't know.
I turned18 in the summer of 79
Do you have any pudding?
Were you in a coma, how could you not know these tunes!!!
Impossible to hear Hot Stuff without thinking of that scene in The Full Monty... 😊
When music was fun and. So much better then
I thought that The Cars had their breakout hit, "I Guess You're Just What I Needed" in 1979. it was a huge hit.
Great song 👍🏻
Maybe the best year ever for music every song a winner 5 supertramp 4 elo 4 abba
There will never ever be another musical year like 1979..
Never again
This is the day when music was great. If you have any record albums from the 1970's and 1980's check them out you may have a few grand sitting in the house.
Super przeboje roku 1979 roku , dla mnie to pełna lista przebojów .
I was 10 years old. I loved all the songs.
My five favourite songs from 1979:
ELO - Confusion
ABBA - I have a Dream
Boney M. - Hooray! x2 It's a Holiday
Gary Numan - Cars
Smokie - San Francisco Bay (not in here)
And look how many classics 1979 brought to us: "I will survive", "I was made for loving you" or "Don't bring me down" and so many more.
1979. The year I dropped out of high school.
Glory be to God
I listened to Donna Summer, Sister Sledge and Chic. Great times!
Grandi Tozzi, sorrenti🇮🇹!
Queen, Police❤️❤️, Donna Summer, Blondie ❤️❤️❤️❤️
All the disco music! Hernandez, my sharona, Stewart, buggles, YMCA❤️
Alot of these songs were on solid gold that year with the solid gold dancers
Oh, man! Solid Gold was one of my favorite variety shows!
1979 was Epic year for many reasons in the peak of our youth.
ABBA, VOULEZ VOUS ALBUM WAS RELEASED IN 1979, MY FAVE ABBA ALBUM. THE MUSIC SOUNDS SO FRESH, AS IF IT WAS RECORDED YESTERDAY 💗💖💝💘
Great trip down memory lane. So many great hits in the one year; many were multiple hits by the same bands. Let's see the present crop pull that off. I was 14 then. By the mid 90s it was pretty much over. Looking back prior to then through the 70s-50s also great music. The bands and soloists had real character and the women were sexy as, without promotion through degradation. So glad we had the experience. Fun times before the chains started their rattling.
Damn, such good music when I was a toddler and living in Vietnam/Hong Kong. I feel sorry for the kids born now.
Gorgeous 🤩
Please notice that the entertainers here are not the beautiful ppl that the music industry is making you worship nowadays but actual musical artists that want to create something unique for us, the audience...
Absolutely. Agree. 👍
Thank you so much for the "79 compilation. It brings back good memories. But somehow I feel sad because some of my friends had already departed. If theyre still here. I want to share these songs to them. By the way i graduated from high school this same year.
Great point - Talent
Now i know im born in year of so many hit song😊 thank you!!
The greatest decade of human achievement closed out on a high, sadly never to be matched again.
