      Gojo on the other hand caught Sukuna in IV and knocked him out cold. And both times Sukuna was saved by Mahoraga. And after *showing* us all this, Gege expects us to believe that: "Oh, Sukuna didn't even needed TS, he would've won regardless"

      thats not what he said. He said that he wasn't sure to be able to defeat sukuna, however same goes for sukuna who had no option to bypass infinity without TS. Also rest of the chapter just reinforcers these negative undertones - "he wasn't going all out", "someone stronger than me"

    • @Anorch-oy9jk
      @Anorch-oy9jk Рік тому +8

      @@seaweather I think sukuna didn't go all out because it was not a wise decision to do so. A fight against gojo is a strategic one and not a rough one like it will be against kishimo. The limitless is a very annoying CT and I suppose that even if you go all out, It won't make any difference unless you use domain amplification or w
      expansion. So sukuna had to fight passive and use mahoraga to figure out a possibility. I think gojo did give everything he had and it still wasn't enough to kill sukuna. Sukuna was patient and waited for his chance. So, personally I believe that the ten shadow CT made the difference in the fight. Close combat wise gojo was better, strategic planing wise sukuna was better. But sure, I think that makes sukuna a better sorcerer.

      All you would have witnessed is Gojo, after a blink of an eye, starts to cough blood, gets cut in half from his torso. Not only does this look unfitting but also removes the shock factor of it from the previous chapter. I know this personally because I was excited for the next chapter also a bit worried. Seeing Gojo see Geto was great, but Geto and Gojo were talking about things only their older selves would know meaning it wasn’t a flashback. Then Gojo starts hinting he died. But we haven’t seen it yet so it leaves the reader very worried while doubting Gojo is actually dead because of the last chapter and then it finally hits you. I find it very fitting he was off screened. Even his death now makes sense too and wasn’t just bs. Perhaps this makes it sound less bad?
      I was still mad about it later on when they described what happened in full detail and the binding vow. But that’s what makes it good. Gege knows how to play with emotions and give you false hope without it being necessarily bad writing.

  • @kylefields3951
    @kylefields3951 Рік тому +156

    I think the reason people have a big problem with Gojo's death in the most recent chapter is not because he died, and might not even necessarily be because Gojo got off-screened (Though I do imagine that is a big part of it) but that Gege had been doing a pretty good job so far justifying the decisions made within the story between the characters and the "Power Levels" as well as the very limited amount of "Plot Armour" due to just how much of the cast has been killed in these high-pressure situations.
    Gege killing Gojo off screen after showing proof of Gojo's superior combat skills (What you show to the audience is more relevant to viewers' understanding of a work than statements of power levels or skills are. You can't just say that a character is at a certain level of power, you have to substantiate that claim in an action story for a viewer to buy it. A Shounen Manga is the type of story the audience can expect for the combat to be a big part of the exploration of its universe. It doesn't matter what Gege says, it matters what Gege *Shows* )
    Gojo was just winning. He was just not losing. Gege showing Gojo getting KO'd off-screen feels less like an authorial statement or artistic decision and much more fundamentally like a letter of resignation or admittance that they would not rather have to answer what they've previously set up.
    It's hard to have all the pieces lined up when you're working on a piece of fiction, and especially when you're working under the conditions of Shounen Jump. But I think the reason this one has got everyone raising their eyebrows at it is because Gege did a good job with this kind of stuff before, but doesn't really have a good answer other than not answering it. Gege would rather just ignore or sidestep the issue and hope the audience doesn't pay attention. But of course, the story's not over, and this is just speculation on my part.
    Another reason is that "In-Universe" it has been set up that one of the reasons Gojo is so cracked and hard to beat is that he has Cursed Abilities and Magics that are specific in aiding reaction time. And when you play into characters in action stories having fundamentally higher reaction time, it can feel cheap to an audience for those characters with said great reflexes to be caught off guard. I think overall, audiences prefer characters with high reaction times to be overwhelmed, rather than to not be able to see a blow coming, which is what a cutaway of that nature implies. Not that Gojo was too tired to dodge, but that he just didn't see this one. Which doesn't seem in line with The Six Eyes. Especially when The Six Eyes is not a Technique that has to be activated, it is just on at all times.

      THIS 100000%. You get it. Gege contradicts himself heavy with this chapter and everything he’s shown before. In powerscaling we have to take feats into account, and Sukuna had no feat that suggested he was superior to Gojo. It just was not set up. On top of Sukuna saying a purple would kill him IN HIS INNER MONOLOGUE so there is no reason for him to lie. Then a purple hits him and he offscreens gojo. Like what

    • @ioiioooio193
      @ioiioooio193 Рік тому +23

      This comment is just delusional tbh. Yes Gege showed Gojo winning BUT was Gojo really winning or was Sukuna holding back?? Gege put MUILTIOLE HINTS mid fight showing that sukuna want really going all out. During the domain battle everyone acknowledged that sukuna was taking the riskier routes in the fight. Gojo doubted himself mid fight and even had the Toji “something is off” comment. We also knew sukuna was waiting for mahoragas adaptation but no one expected that sukuna planned on copying the move, we most likely expected mahoraga to be the on killing Gojo, and this is why Gojo said sukuna could do ably beat him without 10S if he can copy what mahoraga did just know he always had the capacity to do that move, but mahoraga simply made it so he didn’t have to go all out and figure it out kid fight. This aside why would you accept that Gojo fights a guy like sukuna and it would be THAT easy, it literally made no sense Sukuna also wasn’t even using his real technique, the whole community just assumed it’s because HE CANT which is something we don’t even know. The people who are mad are 1: fans of Gojo 2: ignored ALL the hints that something was off the entire fight. You can’t say it’s bad writing when you literally ignore all the things the author did to forshadow the outcome.

      @@emmanuelomego7080 I don't believe this to be the truth. If Sukuna was trying to kill Gojo, and was capable of killing Gojo handily. He would have done so when he had the monstrous advantage of 3 versus 1. Like it cannot even be explained just how insurmountable of an advantage just 2 versus 1 is in a serious combat context between trained and deadly combatants. And Gojo not only clutched the even more dire straits that were the 3 v 1, he eliminated Sukuna's backup and got it down to a 1 v 1.
      Sukuna's best chance at landing a "Gotcha" type hit is not here, it is when there are two other incredibly powerful sentient threats occupying Gojo's time and resources during the 3 v 1.
      I think one of Gege's missteps here is like you said, that it's hard to see coming. But it's not that Gojo fans are trying to huff up some copium, but that Gege didn't write Sukuna's skillset well enough for the audience to buy that he has any right in winning. Especially when Gojo proved he was nasty enough to fight three extremely powerful Curses all at the same time.
      Sukuna smiling is not proof of anything. Gojo clutching a 3 v 1 and not dying somehow is proof of something, and of much more substantial value to the audience.

    This is a monstrous comeback! I *have* to give you applause. This is how content creators covering all things comics should handle these situations. For Gojo's survival, we should wait and see. You're right. The subtle way you addressed the fandom's obsession was extremely diplomatic and you earned stripes for that. Let the author write their story. It's supposed to cause an emotional reaction. That's what makes it a good story. Addressing the clues that were littered throughout gives you hella bonus points that other content creators didn't earn for themselves. A lot of jokes are going to stop now, and anyone who lambasted you before will likely drop the issue.
    It's true that you can't make everyone happy. But you're also not the author of the series. You can only work with the material you're given and maintain neutrality as you do so. The situation is ever changing. This conflict is already off the rails in the most Gege way. And we all know how Gege is. The harder we try to push the story in a certain direction, the harder he / she will troll us. You could turn this follow-up into a master class on how to cover this sort of material and recover from community backlash. Excellent work!

      @@MarianaBello-fq3hx Word. Six is the first I've observed taking this route. There are even bigger channels who took straight to turning on Gege, just fanning the flames. Sure, they're entitled to their opinions, but they're encroaching on libel, which could get them flagged for take downs. Taking a break to cool off was a big brain play by Six. We're not going to love everything along the way, but have to trust the author because that's who knows the ending. Even if Gojo somehow survives, this loss means something. But we have to wait for it to appear.
      I hope more content creators learn to follow this example - especially since he opened up the discussion even more in the process. He hit on something that I had said. Gojo would've seen the cursed energy flowing around Sukuna. Something unique happened that wasn't revealed by the black flashback panel showing a Cleave. Gege's being cryptic for good reason, and it's probably going to be important later on. I'm sure we're missing something big about Mahoraga that hasn't been revealed yet.
      Nothing says that Mahoraga can pass along it's adaptations, but nothing says that it can't. Also, Hollow Purple washes the detonation area in light before it explodes. Mahoraga can move through shadows, so shadows would've been everywhere when it vanished in those two panels from chapter 235. Those shadows can be on the underside of surfaces, which is how Mahoraga came through the floor on Gojo before. Mahoraga suspiciously took minimal damage from Reverse Red in the building. The panels suggest an adaptation to Limitless Blue, but didn't actually say that. It was worded deceptively because Infinity could've caused the badkfire, and Gojo disabled Blue when he intercepted Mahoraga anyway. Also, Blue hit Agito but didn't actually hit Mahoraga at all. Mahoraga was instructed to adapt to Infinity when it was taking damage from Lapse, and it can only adapt to one type at a time, so it couldn't adapt to Blue while adapting to Infinity.
      All of this makes for a strange combination. When Gojo's arm was cut off, I don't think the model was completed in a way that Sukuna could use. Otherwise, he could've ended Gojo at any time after that. But he waited despite having numerous opportunities. Why? He used Piercing Blood at the end when he had Gojo in perfect position to Cleave him. Why get boomed by the Hollow Purple anyway? Something is missing. So, Six making sure to question how was the right way to go. I bet Gege wants us asking questions.

      Ive been watching various types for this chapter 236 from Gojo being dead to Gojo coming back to break downs from the fight to how the students will rival Sukuna. Theres a much better understanding now that we have had the full translation instead of leaks alone. @@SemekiIzuio I'm not outing anyone because I don't want to disrespect Six by outright mentioning other channels in his comments, and I definitely don't want to spark rivalries between communities. I'm speaking specifically of those who were upset by chapter 236, not those who suspected more to come before chapter 236. I'm going to refrain from encouraging the team Gojo vs team Sukuna thing because I think it's more nuanced than that. Of those who were upset, Six was the first I've seen to reevaluate, take a minute to calm down, and extend an olive branch.
      There are a lot of content creators, so I admittedly don't have the same exposure to the range of them as you do. You could've seen others before I have, some I haven't even heard of. So I'm careful not to say the first of all, only the first I've seen. Of those I follow, he's the only one who hasn't called it bad writing, blamed Gege for forgetting stuff, etc, etc. Hell, I predicted this outcome and one of the creators I follow allowed his community to dogpile and flame me for weeks. He's got a huge channel, and I went back solely to call him out on it before unsubscribing. But Six made peace, so full switch. I'll go with the diplomatic creator any day.
      Some things will make us sour, but that's what makes us appreciate them. Six earned my respect by using that instead of rejecting it. In truth, we like imperfect things because they give us problems to solve so that we aren't bored. In retrospect, I think it comes down to the strategy. Gojo fought under the "gotta kill it fast" impression, and in the end, not only that allowed Sukuna to get what he wanted by recieving his jujutsu repeatedly. Sukuna stalled for time cause he needed it to get his upgrade. Had Gojo stalled, it'd be a matter of if the oportunity for a one-first-hit-kill would ever arrive, and if not it'd be at best a stalemate. Personally, I'd think it'd be best if they had killed each other, and then Kenjaku was the guy to deal with from now on. Considering that on top of it all Sukuna now has a tech that can go through the best defense nobody else has, I'm not sure how he can be dealt with in a way that makes sense. Unless he has a timelimit on it, or smt, now that Mahoraga has (presumably) been destroyed. He also has some jujutsu that's supose to be someone elses, like the piercing blood thing. The main unkown factor with that would wether using infinite exclusively as a defensive measure would still proc the adaptation, or if being hit by domex is necessary. However the case, the longer the fight, the bigger Sukuna's advantage gets. Mahoraga's adaptation doesn't seem to stop at any point, from Sukuna's explanation, it progresses with it's limit in the infinite relative to how much data it has. So giving it as little data as possible while looking for gaps, or forcing it indirectly, seems to be the better strategy. Not that it matters much now, cause it seemed half the shikigamis were flat out desintegrated on the fight, so unless he can somehow straight up pheonix down them b*tches, it's just Sukuna with not-quite-10-shadows now. Nah, I’m sorry, gojo losing is wrong. You can’t write a fight to be so overwhelmingly one sided, with gojo throwing sukuna around, constantly having him about to die, and then turn around and say “sukuna wasn’t giving it his all.” That’s inconsistent narrative. Same with this idea that sukuna didn’t need mahoraga to beat gojo, that simply isn’t true. Mahoraga saved sukuna from certain death in multiple occasions, gojo literally knocked him out at one point. And sukuna wouldn’t have found a way to cut gojo without mahoraga. It’s way more realistic to say that gege just got fed up with the character. That’s just bad writing. I don’t mind that he died, gojo NEEDED to die, but he should never have lost the fight. Would have made way more sense that in his weakened state, kenjaku back stabs him or someone else pins him or something. From the INCEPTION of his character, gojo was meant to be the strongest. Basically what I interpreted from Sukuna’s expiation is that Mahoraga adapts over time and improves the adaptation, when Mahoraga used sukunas power to cut gojo’s arm he didn’t hit infinity but space where gojo’s arm was and it got cut off. Then seeing this Sukuna himself learned how to do it and apply his cursed technique to space itself, then when Sukuna was on his last legs he caught Gojo off guard, by slashing the space where Gojo stood and Satoru got cut in half because of that

    Like I said somewhere else, this is Madara 2.0.
    Gojo was too powerful for the plot and he rightfully proved it during the fight with Sukuna, anyone who read it immediately knows that Gojo was dominating the fight and even the narration supported it and then, out of nowhere and off screen, Gojo dies and even says Sukuna was stronger!
    Gege was cornered with the story from the very second Gojo was made as strong as he was and decided go get rid of Gojo no matter how dumb or contradictory it was.

      And what does that should mean? It's a tragedy for the story nonetheless. Now Power system that Gege has created is shattered. Gojo was already cut on by the cleave, in DE of Sukuna. And it was useless. Now it's new cut that for some reason ignores that in DE technique is stronger anyway.

  • @WearyExile_

    Can someone please explain to me, how Sukuna was able to do all this nonsense with Megumi's soul in the fight? Because from my understanding, this contradicts everything that we knew about soul = body and vice versa.
    This really did feel like Gege writing himself into a corner, trying to outdo himself, and then in typical, Gege-esque fashion, overcomplicating not only what could have been a simple explanaition, but taking completely unnecessary route in this fight for a shock value and some plot shenanigans.
    So, my questions are, how was Sukuna able to:
    1) transfer damage from the previously established brain attacking sure-hit to a soul inside the body he possesses.
    2) Seperate during domain clashes his soul and Megumi's body from Megumi's soul, so that his specific CT, imbued into domain, does not protect him, even though it's stated, that his sure affect does not affect him inside the domain, but still, he is fine and Megumi is not.... when the soul is the body and the body is the soul....
    3) Summon Mahoraga twice without hand signs, and only doing non verbal incantation once... without confirming if it was due to some binding vow, no... it's just plot.
    This is the worst part of the fight in my opinion, necause how CRUCIAL it is to the ovaerall conclusion it was and how utterly dumb it is when you try to understand it.
    Not only it is written in the most Gege-esque, confusing way, but it's also not gratifying when you figure this shit out, because it makes no goddamn sense.

    I think “holding back” is just the wrong verbiage to use. As far as we know, the moves he held back aren’t viable against Infinity.
    Holding back implies Sukuna had a way around infinity but intentionally didn’t use it - which again, as far as we is absolutely false.
    Also off-screening the most popular character, the best RCT user not being able to heal when there’s multiple statements implying he should be able to, giving Sukuna an outright broken ability to beat a character the author openly dislikes, thus creating a character so strong (Was Gojo, and now it’s Sukuna) that plot dictates he must be killed or removed from the story but there isn’t seemingly any way to do it without it feeling like it wasn’t given enough thought.

    Thing is, he had faith in the tool he chose and he played it to the conclusion. And it worked. That does not mean it was impossible for him to put forth another tool to the task and still come out the victor.

      @@TyrantofthewindOK you are stating what gojo said, but you are not looking into what the actual attack user says, that he needed a model to bypass infinity. Yes he wanted to do with his technique. The thing is sukuna is a genius at understanding jujutsu sorcery and curse technique. He understood how mahoraga's adaptation works. I don't think any other user of 10S have ever done this or could have done. He understood that mahoraga can provide him that model which he can use to bypass infinity. And he had time to prepare for battle with gojo. Sukuna had used mahoraga before gojo's fight against yorozu, so he definitely knew how to watch mahoraga and use his model. Sukuna wasn't sure of any other way to bypass infinity, but to see mahoraga bypass it. So it's a stretch to consider he could have done it on his own.
