    MY DAD, Jerry Fleming Sr. Built his 3rd steel guitar with my grandpa and it is beautiful and my favorite!!! It is jet glossy black.
    I grew up in a musical family and my grandpa played with Earnest Tubb.
    We could probably talk about stories about them, and Paul Franklin, and Buddy Emmons, SHOT Jackson, Jack Fleming and WSM, and etc. etc. all day long!
    Thanks... Thanks A Lot!
    Good Lick!!!, I appreciate ya!

    My dad learned to play on a triple neck Fender. He was inspired by in the South Pacific during the island cleanup after WWII. H e had several MSAs, a Sho-bud and many more peddle steels. I miss the sound of the islands that he was known for. He really liked C6 for blues and E9th for more contemporary country. He had 8 peddles and 6 knee levers and could make about any sound imaginable. As pop would say , that’s a good lick.

    I'm obsessed with this song, the instrumentation is so unique. I love the jazzy piano chords that abruptly end, along with the low-pitched flute sounding instrument and the steel guitar sound? These three instruments are so different and butt in at seemingly randomly points but together they sound so cohesive.

    • @AlexMillerCountry
      @AlexMillerCountry  2 місяці тому

      You know steel guitar and horn sections sound really good together! Bob Wills music for instance puts them both together. Oh and this lick is in one of my songs called Gettin Lucky in Kentucky

      @@AlexMillerCountry Oh that's so strange, it posted my comment on your video! I was originally posting this on Clairo's new single Sexy to Someone, but I think it posted here cause I opened your short on top of it. But the reason I came here was cause the an instrument in the chorus of that song that sounded so cool and reminded of a steel or hawaiian-like guitar. And your short was great, I also love your demonstration of the steel guitar.

    My grandfather had a one of a kind 3 teir Bigsby. Had original receipts and correspondence between Bisgby and my grandfather about the customizations. It was mother of pearl inlay with his nickname on it. Even an ashtray for the typical musician in the 50s. Sold at Christie's auction house.

      @AlexMillerCountry  4 місяці тому

      Omg who was your grandpa! Those Bigsby steels are the best lap guitars ever made! I’m sure yall got a really good price for that thing! But they’re almost priceless to a steel player

      @AlexMillerCountry His name was Walter Martin, Coy was his stage name. They might still have the auction video. Christie's auction in New York sold it along with a custom Gibson and a Redbud steel, which was custom as well. He worked at Gibson and had the guys he worked with make his acoustic Gibson with plug, pickups, and plate for hole to become electric when needed. A Gibson banjo was sold as well.

    My grandfather had one of these, along with a 60’s Martin Amp and a Gretsch semi hollow. It was willed to me, but left it with my father for better storage. When I was 14, my stepsister got a boyfriend that played in a trash punk band. My dad decided that the temporary fling deserved my music gear more than me, and gave this boy all the gear. He and his band filmed a music video where they destroyed all the gear for a metaphor, not even a week later.
