About a year ago, my mom and I found 3 baby, pet rabbits on our front yard. We knew they didn’t belong out side so we decided to keep them. We were so excited but had no idea what we were doing so we turned to this channel. We continuously say that we don’t know what we would do without it and it has helped us give out bunnies the best life possible. Thank you so much! We love you and Lennon so much! ❤️ keep doing what your doing 💕

I currently have 14 rabbit. Most were rescues that were abused/abandoned. my oldest is 8 yrs my youngest a lil over 2 yrs. They get fed 2 times a day about 10-12 hours apart. They get a good handful of hay (bermuda/ or Timothy) . I lightly cover the bottom of their bowls with pellets w/ my 15lb English lop female . 17lb Flemish female and her 20lb and 18lb younger brothers. Getting 1/2 instead. With my standards and minis getting 1/3. All get a random day to day mix of greens - collards kale. Bok choy. Spinach when they'll eat it and lil bit of cabbage .. Then broccoli snow peas..and brussel sprouts. Most the time it varies to what's on sale. A lot of time I get marked down broccoli slaw. And other bagged salad prep mixes. And everyone gets their share. I noticed they all slimmed up and lost weight. I have a herd of healthy buns. Normally they get to run outside dig eat grass . chase their friends. Females with the geldings only. A few of my intact males even enjoy running with the other guys. But this summer has been a record high for us. They'd rather kick out with the fans and play with their ice bottles. I've never seen my rabbits getting gas or stasis from their diet. Maybe cause their use to it?but 6 months ago when I took in.my 2 lion mix sisters they were forced to live on cheap pellets and limited hay . I gave them a small amount of the same food I give my other on the first night. With the cage packed with hay to avoid colic and they were fine. They cleaned that cage out XD not a bite to eat. And next day they were on mines full meals. Sadly I can't find large enough bags for pure tim pellets. The amount I need would costs me a money ton. I don't get donations. My rabbit stay with me til death they live happy healthy lives. So I get the best pellets I can. They've never gotten sick. My local only rabbit vet loves me. ;)

Lorelei and Lennon have been the thing I fact check on the most, and their vids show me how to give him so much love! She lives in a GIANT dog kennel(not what yall think it is) thing in our basement, while getting to free roam 50 percent of the day. Hey, I have watched nearly all of your videos and noticed how different the ideal bunny keeping is seen from country to country. I found it really intresting and I dont wanna criticize you or americans in general, i just think it's really interesting.
So here in Germany the biggest goal for bunny lovers is to keep them as species-appropriate as possible and this means for example to have them outside (of course not in hutch) with enough space to run around, but still be save with fencing around, underneath (1m under the earth) and above them (also with a roof) and a lot of hiding possibilities. Often they also build tunnels like in nature, that's why it should be saved from underneath as well. I also let my bunnies run around free in our 50m² garden. It's completly closed with fencing, but even if it wouldnt be completly they would not run away. Bunnies are naturally loyal to their location (only if they feel save there and like it there of course). Also they have the ability to select their food if they have enough to choose from. So if there is is growing a lot of different and good stuff in your garden they would not eat a poisonous plant. They would maybe smell at it or take one bite to check but that's it (one bite can't harm them). Did you know that bunnies can actually heal themselves with food? In the wild they pick the right wild herbs that they need for example if they are having bunny flue and our pet bunnies do the same, isn't this fascinating?!
To keeping them species-appropriate it also belongs to not keeping them alone. You will never find a bunny in the wild all by himself and if so something is wrong. They are social animals, always living in groups. So here having only one bunny actually counts as animals cruelty. In Switzerland there is even a law saying its forbidden to keep social animals like bunnies alone and I think this law isn't there without any reason. Every bunny would like to have a partner, you just have to find the right one and of course the bonding can take time. But if you do the bonding right you can minimize the time. A human can't make up for a partner bunnie (This point is my only criticism I have, but yea that's my opinion)
Coming to their diet. Of course their diet should be as species-appropriate as the rest and in nature you will not see them eat hay, they eat it before its dried and when it still has all the vitamins :D
So I feed my bunnies unlimited fresh meadow with a lot of wild herbs in it (it should be 70% herbs and only 30% Gras), fresh leaves and sticks, and unlimited greens and veggies fresh from our weekend market. Of course they have the possibility of eating hay since I give that unlimited as well but they just don't eat it since they of course prefere the fresh stuff. Through the drying process hay actually looses a lot of vitamins.
Pellets are seen really controversial here. They often have cereals in it which is really bad as Lorelei said. But even if they do not, they can be really dangerous. In the bunnies tummy they will extend tremendously and as Lorelei said their tummies are really sensitive. You can actually check that when you put a pellet in a glass of water. You will see how much it extends. That will happen inside the bunny and it could fill and block the bunnies tummy really quick, which already caused death to some. So here we are really careful with pellets.
As you have your 'house rabbit society' we have our 'kaninchenwiese' (it actually means bunnies meadow, so being outside haha) which is an organisation for bunnies as well and helps you with the exact same things as HRS. That's where I got most of my information from and of course exotic vets.
Since your bunnies turn average 10-12 years and our bunnies turn average 10-12 year I don't wanna say that one part does it better. I just think it's really interesting to see the differences. 😊
    Thanks for reading!

I just wanted to say Thanks for giving such great information on bunnies! Recently my fiancé and I became the owners of a beautiful bunny named Luna, her owner before us loved her very much but sadly couldn't take her with when she moved to her new place, so, she came to live with us. :) We wanted her to be able to be completely free to roam about the house but we didn't know how to deal with her potentially expensive "bunny habbits" -until watching your videos that is! She came with a decent sized cage and pellet food with a water dispenser, All of which we thought to be okay before, but now, (Thanks to the knowledge learned from watching your channel) You will be happy to hear, are going out to the trash as soon as possible!) she doesn't like to be in her cage much anyways-understably- and only really only uses it for her bathroom, she also frequently breaks out whenever she can if she is put up, most of the day she is left to roam the house freely with supervision, but at night, until we can bunny proof the entire house, sadly, she sleeps in there and is let out first thing in the morning. Now, thanks to your videos, we can give our Luma the best life ever! :Thanks again!

I 💘 buns getting such service to avoid cancer and to better their lives but sadly where I live such services are only life or death situations for females. Their only one vet for hours that can do it. But if something goes wrong we can't get the rabbit to the nearest 24/7 er center for 4 hours. So her policy is males always . Females if 100% necessary.

Rabbits with wide eyes are healthy ones.
My cousins use to feed there rabbit’s hay but then
    they stopped doing it.
So I watched this channel and did many researches
and one day I told my cousins about it and they have a hutch,
but I told them that they needed to free Rome there rabbits because
    they live in Australia.
In Australia there is hawks, bats, etc,. My cousins’s rabbit’s name’s are,
Coco, and Flopsy. Coco is a Brown coloured mini lop, and Flopsy is a Rabbit like Lennon with white fur and black chunks on her.
I’m trying to inspire my cousins and in courage them to free Rome there rabbit someday.
Especially because they have a dog in the backyard.
I’m going to watch your videos more so I can encourage them to free Rome instead of keeping them
outside and tell them to eat hay.

Love your vids.Lennon is so cute. Can you do a reading camments video and how do you give your bunny exercise without free-roaming them

    • @TiffanysBunnyGang
      @TiffanysBunnyGang 5 років тому +2

Takela James a good way to give your bunny exercise without free roaming is to set up an area using exercise pens or storage grids. You can either attach these to your bunnies enclosure or you can have it separate. Another option would be to make a preditor safe rabbit run for outdoors. I would highly recommend any outdoors time is supervised though. You can also have 1 room that you rabbit proof & use that as their exercise area. The rabbit room is what I do. Hope this helps 🐰❤️

This helped so much!! I just bought two baby rabbits today and they are so cuteeee!! I’m still a little bit shaky on what to feed them and all, but watching your videos has guided me to know that bunnies a bowl of water instead of a tube, and that they NEED to eat hay. Thank you so much, this is so helpful for me, Honey, and Hopper. They are both females but right now they are so energetic. Running and bouncing😂 Is it normal that one of my bunny’s (Honey) is eating a LOT? She’s been eating hay a lot and I bought the wrong food but I’m buying the pellets you suggested tomorrow. I cut up bananas and apples along with carrots but only one each, and they love it! Thank you so much again!!

idk if you have a bunny yet... but herbs are an absolute MUST both of my bunnies love them and they have many health benefits, I wouldn’t get the rosewood naturals Bc they usually have pea flakes which can cause GI stasis but my bunnies fav herbs are the rose petals from 101rabbits.com and the they love all of the herbal blends from Small pet select :) another tip is DO NOTTTT only watch one rabbit yt channel you should have multiple sources o recommend watching 101 rabbits, hooks Holland’s, Lennon the bunny, and there are some great small pet channels that always have good tips. ANDDDDD I almost forgot bunnies should live in pairs so you should plan to get another rabbit. They can get very lonely so you should have a friend for ur bunny
