I agree with you. There are so many great songs on the Just Bring It album. The ones you mention plus Take Me Higher!! and YOLO are songs I always come back to. Yesterday, when I was checking songs, to show Maddy, where Miku is the lead singer, I found some old goodies that I had forgotten about. It was "Oh yeah! That good one!" all the time. For example, I found "Arcadia Girl" on the New Beginning album. Such an underrated good song I wish they reintroduced into their live repertoire.

Masterclass on great song composition. And Miku's lyrics are among her best. From the beginning: "Your first "hello", / The sound of a puzzle piece falling into place." -- to the end: "The puzzle is breaking, / Memories aren’t enough."

More peeks into an important, transformational group known as Band-Maid. Three things I think new fans will find fascinating with this group; 1) the deeper you dig, the more you'll appreciate the members authenticity, writing and musical sensibilities; 2) your favorite song will generally be the one you're currently listening to. Note: This is a distinctive phenomenon with Band-Maid. For example, listen to "Moratorium" and then “Puzzle. Which is your favorite?; and 3) why does it seem they have no bad songs?
Band-Maid has plenty of bad songs, according to one of their interviews. It's just that they threw them all in the dumpster and only released 127 (to date) of their most awesome songs. This disciplined integrity is one of the things that keeps them at the top of the rock pile.
    Thx, Maddy!

    Thanks for another great reaction!🎉
“Puzzle” is one of Miku’s best lyrics, poetic and not so abstract.
And Kanami’s guitar work is a masterclass in creativity. She does twice the work anyone else would’ve thought of.
The more you point out things you like or dislike with music, the easier it is to pick good songs for you 🎁

  • @dkmusic7000

This song is in my top two with Secret My Lips. There is no number one. It is a pure Band-Maid masterpiece, if not the ultimate. IMHO. The composition is absolute perfection. And the arrangement really leads you on a journey. Every instrument, every voice tells the story of this song through the lyrics so masterfully written by Miku. Which brings me to the Puzzle.
The story is about a woman caught up in a relationship with a married man. And it's told from the eye of the other woman. She is falling for him, but knows his marriage prevents him from getting closer. Sometimes he says and does things that make her feel wanted and loved. And sometimes he leaves her questioning herself and their relationship. She is constantly reminded of him by things he left behind; his smell, clothes, a lighter. She doesn't want to think about it because it hurts; telling herself don't look, don't cry. She's conflicted, knowing she has to stay in the shadows but wants so much more. And no matter how hard she tries, she can't let him go. It doesn't matter what number she is. She wants that final piece of their puzzle, but deep down she knows, she won't get it. Her puzzle is breaking and she is left alone still longing.
    Excellent reaction as always. ぽ

May you someday find a way to see/hear this song in the acoustic version done at the 4/13/2018 Zepp concert. Darkened stage just Saiki singing and Kanami on acoustic guitar and singing harmony, both seated. The acoustic version is full of sadness, regret, longing, desperation. It's heartbreaking and heartbreakingly beautiful. I love both/all versions.
BTW the concert, the version you listened to is from, is available on DVD/Blu-ray and was streamed live worldwide back on Jan. 9th. I watched the stream, watched the archive many times over the 30 days it was up, and bought the BR. It was/is just amazing. There are two more songs from it up on their channel, Sense and NO GOD. _When you said “Nice to meet you.”, It’s like hearing a puzzle piece fell into place._
_Although you certainly don’t remember, but that’s fine with me._
she is angry and disappointed. But when she sings the very same words as an acoustic she's sad and heartbroken. It's remarkable.

It's always a toss-up between this and the Studio Coast live version of this. The older version has Misa more audible than here, and it has Mincho doing her happy dance, but I like the rawness of this one and then there's Miku who has grown as a rhythm guitarist to be a solid rock at the centre of the sound and her backing vocals are confident and precise. This song has meaning for me too, my mother spent years waiting for a man who could never find the right time to tell his wife, and in the end all she got from the relationship was me. 'Even new clothes' chokes me every time, her waiting for the time when he would actually let himself be seen out with her.

Well, that's besides Misa's relationship with alcohol and Akane's with bananas... They are all in their 30's now (I think Saiki is close) and could all be married with children for all I know. Any insight out there? Not that I think I have a shot or anything, just curious.
