I haven't heard this song for decades. But this Christmas morning, walking the fields with my dog, I found myself singing it. So here I am, 18 years old again and marvelling at Ralph's ability to write deeply moving words set to beautiful music. Thank you for posting this and thank you Ralph for all the good years.
I love this song by Ralph.. Many moons ago, I was listening to Radio Caroline, would have been in the 'Mi Amigo' (ship) days.. Peter Chicago was finishing his show and played this.. Then one of the best American 'jocks' i've ever heard Mike Hagler came on, and he started his show with this.. That was a magic 'Watery Wireless Moment'. and i still have it on tape!!! Wonderful memory that one..
Just heard this for the first time, having been a fan of Ralph for years. On a wet November morning, it blows me away.....what a superb song.....time to hunt the vinyl!
Ralph was being prophetic here "And If I Could Read The Future I Would Ask You Not To Come.' A very true statement so much that it's scary! Beautiful warm resonant voice and his sweet guitar so good! A really gifted and special artist. Let me say something that will make some people fumingly angry, but I'll say it anyway. Annie Haslam has a better voice than Sandy Denny after very early Sandy. I like one and love the other and I can't blame Sandy for making Fairport boring they just were boring. The first two albums, the first of which was Judy Dyble not Denny were great, but Unhalfbricking is a mess of an album. Liege and Lief is great, but then Sandy Denny was a star after that. She couldn't handle being famous it blew her ego up huge. She could have been the best in the world has she lived, but something about Fairport irks me. Damned if I know what it is, though!

I think, like many comenters: this one sticks for a long time and echoes in the mind from time to time - and is well worth digging up again.
Hadn't heard this for 50 years. Still as beautiful and as relivant.
Very underrated song at the time. It made a lasting impression and I have been searching for it for ages. Thank you for upload!
