I always thought greatsword was one of the easiest weapons to pick up because if you catch a Dodge you could just keep doing reset after reset and goods or has like an anti-jumping tool that leads into a combo it's just mad crazy

I got carried to 1700 elo with GS before ever learning Dash Jump fastfalls, the platform movement (still can’t do it) and how to dodge everything correctly. 189 hours of experience so that could be why but without Greatsword I’d be 1300 elo I made a new account to see 💀😂 Edit: Also used some lance cause why wouldn’t I use a weapon with over 55% wr 😂
@@UncontrolledMadness you should know what strings/combos are jumpable and which are dodgeable or both... changing up dodge patterns often... never dodge in.. save your dodges as per situation, wouldn't wanna lose your dodge against gaunts or scythe.. yep that pretty much covers it ..

Ok, this comments section has become a storm of gs hate. So rather than (rightfully) telling you to learn the matchup, let me just give a few tips: After landing a starter nlight, gs has limited ways to read an up dodge. They can really only do a sig or a rec-nair, not necessarily bad options but not nearly as terrifying as a full string. You should pretty much always be dodging early in a gs string if possible. Many reads are very difficult to get out of with basic movement and gs doesn't get a worse read position later in a string (as opposed to, say, gaunts, who kinda lose pressure if you still have a dodge after their gc slight). While there are some cases where it can be good, holding your dodge mostly leads to you taking extra damage before they actually read you and get a full string. By far the biggest weakness of gs is its poor startup. When comparing every weapons fastest attack, gs ties with cannon for having the slowest one at 10 frames. This causes gs to have a very weak wiff punish game (it sometimes is physically not fast enough to get a punish) and suffer on defense (as it has poor options to mash out of pressure). This does NOT mean gs has long endlag. So hopefully this helps and you all can stop crying about gs just because boomie dislikes the weapon.

I mean,the elo problem was that people (for example) are at like 1900-1800 and they are fighting people at 2300. That’s just an example of one of the couple of scenarios that people run into usually,though not too far off. Other than that,if people are like 2000-2100 fighting a 2300,that would be more reasonable I feel like.

Slight on GS can punish most whiffs NLight & Nair can cover scythe dair fishers Scythe has active input and GS can change the way their moves work depending on starter bridge or finisher. Then add dash cancels…. I play both Greatsword and Scythe and that’s my dream weapon combo they both so good at punishing.

I think that comparing performance in chess and Brawlhalla is simple actually. The thing is that you shouldn't focus as much in comparing overall player to player performance, but rather the performance in a certain match. If the enemy is doing some moves that you can't punish, you're simply not playing good enough, either by not punishing or not playing around it correctly, so in a certain match you can play like a lower or higher elo than your marked elo (the one indicated in the game). It'd be very interesting to try develop an AI like in chess, that always finds the best thing to do at each point of a match in every game and to learn from that, although I don't think is doable for now, since the amount of calculations that the AI would have to do per frame would be way too many to display the best movement in that instant :( Nice video as always, btw. In some way I enjoy these high level gameplay because I can learn from both sides
Imo, gs takes skills to actually perform. Yes, there’s the 50/50 read, but I can tell you right now, it’s never actually 50/50 lol. Spot dodges are to blame. Also, does anyone realize how hard it is to start with s light? Most weapons prioritize the hit first AND jumpy weapons almost always beat it.
GS is a good combo of good movement, spacing and reading your enemy. Missing is very punishing. We can't just acknowledge that the Mako might be skillful. Obviously the weapon is OP because someone lost to it.

@@lambsauce8545 There is though. If you miss a hit there's downtime. They can hit you right after. Also your opponent can do wakeup. Also if you're playing against something like bow they can punish with a true combo if you miss or in general. Or you could just be annoying and play passive against greatsword. There's literally so many ways to beat greatsword.
