I appreciated your review of all the Zoologist perfumes. So many fragrance reviews are wearisome because of overlong intros, poor planning, and rambling reviews. It was a relief to see you quickly get down to business with reviews you’d certainly given thought to. I wrote a dozen or so reviews on Basenotes (as Anosmia Amnesia) so I can testify that it’s hard to write useful reviews that stay focused and avoid overwrought prose. Your reviews are very well done. At your suggestion I’ll be trying Moth and Sloth.
You introduced me to this house and of coarse Camel and Moth are my favs! Moth is a MASTERPIECE! I’ve never smelled anything like it nor have I ever felt the way I do when wearing it. Thank you for introducing these beauties to me!
While our opinions vary on a number of the releases we both came to the same conclusion on Moth. My favorite Zoologist and also in my top 20 perfumes of all time.
I just got the discovery set and I'm slowly trying each of them. It's so helpful to have an opinion on all of them in one place like this. This made me excited to try some of the ones I've been hesitant about.
You got me so intrigued about Zoologist. I just placed order for Bee and Sloth, and looking to add more in the future. Am disappointed about the good ones that's discontinued.
I loved Bee so much I had to buy a bottle. I had a bunch of samples but apparently didn't get around to sampling Nightingale. The minute you said it was a chypre, I paused the video to run up and get it! Oh my, it's gorgeous, ok, that and camel are my next buys. Your descriptions are so good. I really appreciate your videos :o)
@@whatwouldjudydo_ Yes I did and I thought it was very interesting but not something I will buy a full bottle of. I need to try it again though in cold weather as I an a total chypre girl :o)
Thank you so much for this review wow! Amazing detail! My cousin in Germany is very passionate about fragrances and he asked me about it when I was with him last in 2018 and now I’m going to see him in Germany. I’m surprising him with 10 of the samples. He will be THRILLED! I’m issuing your help to choose some scents he will like! Thank you! He has no idea he’s finally going to try and have Zoologist!
I'm so happy that you finally made this video! I haven't tried Zoologist yet, but have been intrigued by Chameleon, Hummingbird, Bee, and Camel... thank you for sharing your review!!
Your Zoologist coverage got me pumped for the house, and I ordered the full sample set. I'm really enjoying testing them. This video in particular prompted me to try Moth again. I was on the fence about it the first time I tried it, but this time, I'm feeling it. It really is great! Nightingale is just so pretty to me. Hard to beat. I've worn Koala the most bc it's such a no-brainer, but it would be hard to be excited about buying it, I think. Looking forward to your review on Rhinoceros 2020, which I think I really like. I didn't recognize the similarity between it and Bat and Sloth, which unfortunately didn't set well with me after a while (same for new Beaver and Panda).
Agree on the Musk Deer, good that I ordered a sample, because it turned really really sharp on my skin, almost soapy. Definitely has a coldness to it. But yeah, Moth is my signature perfume since it came out. It’s absolutely fantastic and I hope it won’t be ever changed and it will stay on the market for at least 80 years! ☺️
I received the entire most recent zoology lineup and YOU are so dead on....so far ( I’m taking it slow) but Bee is insane. Got bit bad immediately AND THEN came Moth. Holy smokes on the drive to work was I blown away. Delicious after the 30 minutes so I pushing the buy buttons on FB pronto. Try Moth with a cafe latte in your lap. LOL. And on a rainy day. Don’t know but all those elements together worked crazy good. Many thanks for your reviews.
Sweetie Darling!! LOVE LOVE LOVE your Zoologist countdown...I too am a big fan have them ALL in one form or another. Many of our tastes are opposite (love old Panda new one-meh) but much is in common: miss you and have been going through it but just saw this pic after another video and when I saw it I was like I have got to see what TT thinks. I think I love you and miss you and absolutely adore your channel & content! Smell swell & be well, my fragrant friend! GP xox
Ylang Ylang is also a 'quest' of mine - would love for you do a video on the note and hear about your favourite ylangs (apart from ((or including!)) Chameleon). Moth is my favourite Zoologist too... followed by Bee and Dragonfly :)
I got so excited when I saw the title of this video 😍 I like hearing you talk about Zoologist fragrances, and now that I got to sample about 6 of them, at last, it's interesting to compare that to what I smell :D
Hummingbird made me purchase my first fruity-floral fragrance bottle. I know I need it since the first sniff. Gotta get my nose on Moth and Chameleon some day. They sounds lovely.
At first, I appreciated Dragonfly, but thought it wasn't my cup of tea. Then I found myself craving smelling it. It's the only sample that I've finished, and in one try!
Hi Thomas I bought you a coffee your favorite a Carmel macchiato I hope you enjoy it! Keep up the good work I love your reviews I’m so glad I came across your channel! Kind regards, Liris from Miami 😋👌🏻☕️
I just received my lovely bottle of Nightingale and I’m wearing Chameleon as I sit down to watch this.... Victor is a genius! Now how Panda is at 27 is beyond me.... I’ve heard it’s No1 in the Middle East... okay on to the reviews! Had to come back at the end to applaud you as these reviews were wonderful.. 💞
Oh my gosh, I love this video so much. So glad I found you. I only just discovered Zoologist and have now tried the whole sample pack. I honestly could buy the lot, if I could afford it. So collectable. I wish I could get some second hand bottles somewhere but can‘t find any, not even on ebay. Shame. Guess I‘ll be saving my little cash and have to buy them one by one, will only take forever. But I think my first bottles, if I manage to get some used or buy FB will be Hummingbird, Elephant and Camel. Oh and I love Koala, and Sloth and Dodo and and and ..
Thanks to you I discovered Zoologist and now it's my favourite perfume house too. Moth, Civet, Beaver are the ones that are still on my most wanted list. Maybe after that I might also get a bottle of Hummingbird, Nightingale, and who knows what else. I have a weak spot for the special editions too. But I must say I'm also an oldschool Zoologist lover. I don't think if it weren't for the special edition boxes and bottles, I would've bought a full bottle of the soft muscs, at least not right away and definitely no blind buys. My favourites in no specific order are Rhino, TRex, Moth, Civet, Bee, Camel, Beaver, Panda, Chameleon. A lot of Zoologist fragrances you fall in love with slowly but surely. The longer I own them the more I love them. I love it when you make video's especially if they are about Zoologist. Can't wait for your review on the newest ones, that haven't been released yet. Stay well xxx
I bought Bee and Moth because of your recommendations, and I LOVE them both. ❤️ Although my husband mostly wears the Moth because I often find it a little bit too dark and gothic to go with my outfit, haha. 😆 I want to get a brighter fruitier one for summer, would you recommend Chameleon or Hummingbird? I don’t mind tropical, but you and a lot of people say that Chameleon has a quite weak performance and projection...? I often prefer my frags on the louder side, hehe. Thanks for a great, inspirational and informative video, as always! ❤️
Did you end up picking? I feel like hummingbird definitely feels a bit like a lighter, brighter moth. Even though the notes are different, there's a similar powderiness to the florals, and yes, hummingbird definitely outperforms chameleon, at least on my skin.
MOTH!!! 🖤🖤 So good.... Hey, Thomas, I had the same experience with Nightingale. Couldn't quite get my nose around it at first but now I love it (not as much as Moth of course).... Well my first full bottle of Zoologist perfume is on its way and I'll bet you can't guess which one. 😏
Ordered the sampler kit and tried on bee to start. Beautiful scent but the bees wax was a bit overpowering so I decided to switch back to squid. I washed my neck 4 times and the bee scent has mixed with squid and there's this rich awesome layering effect.
... now I can’t wait to go home & re-sniff all my Zoologist samples (except for Squid, even if I DID still have it 😂), and, I’m placing an order for a few more samples as we speak 😁
Yay! I've been waiting for this one for so long! Great great video, as usual :-) Entertaining, informative and always smart. I 90% agree with your rankings, in particular the bottom part, you nailed it. I also like your top 10, with just a few exceptions: 1. I would not place T-Rex above Panda; 2. Old rhyno, I don't like it, I put it way down, swap places with Elephant; 3. I prefer Camel over Moth, and Panda over Moth too. Actually, my top 5 would be; 1. Camel; 2. Panda; 3. Moth; 4. Sloth; 5. T-Rex & Koala. Only complaint about Camel: performance is a bit disappointing on my skin. And, finally, I really think Panda 2017 has close similarities with Hacivat. But Panda is better😬
Love the order of your favorites. Your top five are my top five. Moth is definitely #1! I don’t have Sloth yet either, and I missed the boat on the original Bat which I could not afford at the time. Helllo from Colorado!
I just wanted to tell you that I ordered a sample of Moth after watching you lost in a micro-rapture over it. I was intensely curious. You described it perfectly. It also has to be said that it smells EXACTLY like the environment a particularly beautiful, rare moth would live: dark, dry, unaired, honey-powder dust covered eaves at 11pm. Or an old antique wardrobe. It has a very strange 'after taste' which I cannot put my finger on, like when you pull down an old box from somewhere in the garage and it disgorges rubber toys or some surprising, long forgotten item from your childhood holidays etc that holds on to a tangy, sour-sweet odour. Compelling. I agree, it really is a work of art. I'm unsure of whether or not it would suit me as a fragrance to wear out of the house when all decked out in my finest glad rags though. Only one way to find out: wear it and experiment. Thank you for the recommendation.
I watched your original ranking video where Bat OG was ranked quite high, what changed for you? Also, I noticed Elephant was your second least favourite and now it's in the middle. Has your opinion on it changed?
Hey Thomas - I tried Penhaligon's Bewitching Yazmine for the first time the other day and I was having one of those..."This reminds me of something else..." moments. Then it struck me. Bewitching Yazmine reminds ME very much of Zoologist Bee in many ways...Have you smelled both? What do YOU think? I almost want a versus video...lol. I know I'm not crazy...
Great video! I enjoy Zoologist quite a bit as well and own many from his original releases. Next up to purchase is Bee. I love it. I don't know why it hasn't become a fixture in my wardrobe yet. lol So many fragrances to chose from I guess. Eventually I plan to have the whole line. I do own full bottles of the original Rhino, Beaver and Bat which I'm grateful to have. I'm not new but new to your channel. I enjoy your vids quite a bit. Be well.
Moth moth moth yes yes yes my fave to definitely in my top three all-time favourites I’ve just rediscovered Nightingale from an old sample which you may have put together for me LOL great video
I went back to my sample collection and tried two random of these. It became bee and macaque. Loved bee. Macaque was ok. And the fun thing is that they feel COMPLETELY OPOSIT from each other. Maybe bee was a bit too intense for me today and the other was better for me atm. But I still love the smell of bee. So now I have tested 4 out of 10, and my ranking of them is (least to best): 1 - Dragonfly (purple one, you asked me about that on my other comment on that review because I told I had some issues with it) 2 - Macaque 3 - Bee 🐝 4 - Camel 🐫 What do you think I should test next up. I have Dodo old AND new, musk deer, nightingale, hummingbird and squid. And if buying some more samples later, what ones do you think I should go for. I am a bit interested in the new panda, sloth and camelion after hearing your thoughts.
on me moth takes on less of the floral and more of the spice notes in it. like it’s a sweet-smelling spice so a bit of the floral mixed in. it has like a incense-pheremone thing too
I haven’t tried every release from Zoologist, but I’ve tried several and they are really not my taste. My favorite of the ones I have tried is Moth; however, after trying it from a dabber and a spray sample, I prefer it from a dabber (I realize the sprayer of the bottle could make a difference as well and not sure I want to buy a bottle to find out...though I do love that bottle). Not sure I’ll ever own a Zoologist, but atm if I were to buy one it would be Moth.
Squid gave me a headache that lasted a long time. I didn't get the sweetness you mentioned at all! I don't know if my skin just didn't amplify this accord, or my sense of smell isn't 100% back to normal yet, after a COVID infection.
I’m dealing with the same thing. I’m at the end of covid, and struggling to get my sense of smell back. Citrus scents are the worst for me right now. They smell like sour sponges.
@@marcilk7534 I hope you get better soon 🙏🏼 It took me weeks to get to smell things like 60-80% as before, in regards to intensity. And at first, some perfumes smelled so different to me, almost unrecognizable. One of my favorites smelled like plastic to me! I think now there are some notes that I just don't smell or don't get. Because everyday objects smell the same to me, but perfumes are a little bit lacking.
@@ameerahalgohary I’m glad at least that I made progress, but I really hope I can recover the rest. There are perfumes I loved when I was younger that smelled like plastic years later even before covid, so perhaps I lost some sense of smell from age too.
Perfect, this helped me out! I'm not huge on animalic notes, but I wanted to check out this house. I'm checking out Hummingbird, Bee, Chameleon, Macaque Yuzu, Dragonfly (new), Beaver (new), and Squid. I'm hoping I can make it to my local indie perfume shop to smell Moth, though, because it sounds like an experience!
I want to try Chameleon, Nightingale, Camel, and maybe Civet. The notes in those sound like something I would like. The only ones I've tried so far is Bee and Hummingbird. Bee is ok, but too much honey for my liking. Now, Hummingbird, on the other hand, I absolutely LOVE. Maybe because I'm so partial to hummingbirds since I love them so much! BTW..kind of off topic, but am excited because I finally got my first male ruby throated hummingbird of the season at my feeders the other day, and he is a BEAUTY!! But I need to be careful what I wish for because males can be BULLY birdies and chase all the other hummingbirds away from the feeders. Very territorial little turds!😄
The amount of times I watch this (w my zoologist page open) since your Portrait of a Lady review, you loving it as much as me, I pretty much trust only you. (Good GOD I found out what civil was!! * cocane...never again. It's the Liver of fragrance! I thought that smell was musk. Eww God no) Anyway. Crossing my fingers on my next order! *whyyyy did POL change, ahhh?!
I'm not a fan of either formulation of Bat. To me the original smells like potting soil and rotten bananas. My favorite from the ones I've tried is Bee. It is unique and sweet like a honeycomb. It is a special fragrance
Loved hearing you discuss this brand. You’re so passionate. I’m interested in getting bee. I love the smell of honey..But now you made me want moth too...dammit
I wish I'll have the chance to sniff Panda amd Beaver in their original versions. They're the only Zoologists I could never put my nose on... Can someone point me in the right direction where to find them? Cheers!
I am going to buy the full collection sample set and see which ones I enjoy the most. Then, I will decide from there which bottles to pick up. I want to try and limit myself to choosing 2 winners, but it’ll be hard with so many amazing ones.
Hehe...Squid did NOT work for me at all, because all I can smell is actual squid! I laugh, because my other half is a mechanic, & he took my sample vial to work to spray into the cars of people who give him grief 😂😂 (I realise there is just so much wrong with everything I’ve just said!) EDIT - I might add, although I can’t stand it to the point of getting rid of my sample (usually keep all samples), I can absolutely appreciate Squid for what it is...I am extremely impressed at the fact it actually does smell like a squid...!
Well, I guess you aren't familiar at all with squid and any other marine species because Squid doesn't smell like the actual animal by any means. It's just a salty ambery perfume with nuances of ink.
@nadisa76 - I've ordered direct from Zoologist on 2 occasions. Even allowing for postage costs it works out cheaper than Blooms. I've been really lucky as my orders only took 4 days and 6 days!
It's cheaper to get them direct from Victor! :) And then you get the whole Zoologist customer experience which is nice with all the packaging and prettiness. :)
@@ouch110 Thanks for responding, Thomas. I actually received my second order from Victor today and am totally hooked. Not sure if I am allowed to share this here, but he is so generous. I ordered 4 bottles (yes, totally broke now, and I mean broke as in how the heck are we gonna pay the bills this month broke) and Victor included 2 travel sprays. So generous. I wish I could have the whole collection but that will take me a while unless we remortgage the house.
I know you haven’t tried them all, but I’d love a video like this for Etat Libre d’Orange - I love your thoughts on those scents since so many of them are quite unique. ...I definitely need to try some more Zoologist scents. Now of course, I like Musk Deer a lot, so what do I know? 😂

I think it’s worth saying that the perfumes are vegan, so animalic notes are synthetic.
Hyrax for sure isn’t, not sure if there’s other exceptions.
Bee has beeswax so also isn't vegan

Shall acquire samples soon, think I already chosen my favorite , Thank much from Canada
Love the order of your favorites. Your top five are my top five. Moth is definitely #1! I don’t have Sloth yet either, and I missed the boat on the original Bat which I could not afford at the time. Helllo from Colorado!
I absolutely ADORE Moth as well! Would love to see you review a few more Beaufort fragrances. :)
Give Hummingbird a go. I think it’s better than Nightingale. I’d also have Civet a bit higher.
Glad you like Rhino 1 ! :-)
Hummingbird is so beautiful 😍😍😍
Be well.
Just put on my Camel sample then this vid pops up. The stars are aligned
Instant like!! Now I'm going to watch the video lol
So now I have tested 4 out of 10, and my ranking of them is (least to best):
1 - Dragonfly (purple one, you asked me about that on my other comment on that review because I told I had some issues with it)
2 - Macaque
3 - Bee 🐝
4 - Camel 🐫
What do you think I should test next up. I have Dodo old AND new, musk deer, nightingale, hummingbird and squid. And if buying some more samples later, what ones do you think I should go for. I am a bit interested in the new panda, sloth and camelion after hearing your thoughts.
I love nearly all ZOOLOGISTs, too❣
Hello Thomas, great video! My Zoologist parcel is on the way, i am looking forward :-)
on me moth takes on less of the floral and more of the spice notes in it. like it’s a sweet-smelling spice so a bit of the floral mixed in. it has like a incense-pheremone thing too
The most stunning ylang I've tried is Perris Monte Carlo Ylang Ylang Nosy Be.
Yeeey ❤️
Thank you!
I would love if you did this video (ranking from least to most fave) for Amouage!!
@@marcilk7534 I hope you get better soon 🙏🏼
It took me weeks to get to smell things like 60-80% as before, in regards to intensity.
I agree about Panda....I sprayed my sample on after watching this and had to wash it off. I do love Bee, though! 🙂
Great review!
Where can I buy zoologist fragrance idk where to get them
Perfect, this helped me out!
Eww God no)
Anyway.
0:36 : some..........body once told me the world is gonna roll me
Is the perfume you make still available???
Hi which perfume for a guy would you suggest is the top 5 to gather up complimens from ladies for men's ummer perfumes.
Thank you and I've subscribed
I wish I'll have the chance to sniff Panda amd Beaver in their original versions. They're the only Zoologists I could never put my nose on...
Can someone point me in the right direction where to find them? Cheers!
Random question: What is that music in the outro? It's beautiful :)
I'm watching ⌚ wearing eight and bob it's a soapy addictive scent love at first smell if your jfk God bless
One of my favourite houses 😍
Try Valiant from bodicea the victorious for the perfect ylang ylang note in this masterpiece!
I am going to buy the full collection sample set and see which ones I enjoy the most. Then, I will decide from there which bottles to pick up. I want to try and limit myself to choosing 2 winners, but it’ll be hard with so many amazing ones.
Got the same sample can’t wait.
@@junboo8730 some very interesting ones in there
@@Noah-pk7tf Niceee
Hehe...Squid did NOT work for me at all, because all I can smell is actual squid! I laugh, because my other half is a mechanic, & he took my sample vial to work to spray into the cars of people who give him grief 😂😂 (I realise there is just so much wrong with everything I’ve just said!)
EDIT - I might add, although I can’t stand it to the point of getting rid of my sample (usually keep all samples), I can absolutely appreciate Squid for what it is...I am extremely impressed at the fact it actually does smell like a squid...!
Well, I guess you aren't familiar at all with squid and any other marine species because Squid doesn't smell like the actual animal by any means. It's just a salty ambery perfume with nuances of ink.
I love squid. misterious, inky & aquatic. Makes me feel like Bruce Wayne lol.
WONDERFUL 💜💚💛❤💙🧡
Thank you
I was able to guess your top 6 !! I think I'm a fan😌🤣 right?!
Which one gets you the most compliments.
Panda. The old one. When I have worn it. Mainly because it is a fougere that is in a similar world to Aventus (with a zoologist twist)
Where do you buy your Zoologist scents? OnVictor‘s website or with Bloom in London?
@nadisa76 - I've ordered direct from Zoologist on 2 occasions. Even allowing for postage costs it works out cheaper than Blooms. I've been really lucky as my orders only took 4 days and 6 days!
@nadisa76 - What's your favourite? I'm watching Thomas again because I'm buying Moth and the travel spray set; problem is you can only choose 5 😂😂
Awe Im also looking for the best ylang ylang as well as a perfect frangipanni
I know you haven’t tried them all, but I’d love a video like this for Etat Libre d’Orange - I love your thoughts on those scents since so many of them are quite unique.
...I definitely need to try some more Zoologist scents. Now of course, I like Musk Deer a lot, so what do I know? 😂
What is your top 5 ever (niche and désigner)?
Haha on sent l'autocorrect français ;)
And if so t Rex was the most craziest smelling fragrances I've ever worn
Brilliant
Thnx 👏
YAYYYY
Where's Sea Horse?
And what about Chipmunk?
Processing as we speak!
I'm guessing t Rex is number 1????
Camel , Humingbird, chameleon, Dragonfly, Bee are my absolute favourites but the absolute worst is Hyrax omg smells like dried human 💩
Oh t Rex is 6. Word
Oh moth was 1. WTF is t Rex
