Your channels are incredible!!!! You expose the con artists from the media's broadcasting blunders, to the sports teams sleazy schemes!!!! You're a worldwide treasure!!!
25 years later Kerry Wood is still a favorite with Cubs fans. It’s too bad injuries kept him from reaching his full potential, but he still had some very good years
Videos are coming up soon on JG8! Had to put some stuff on the back burner because of some other side projects not related to the baseball channel (which you’ll learn more about in the coming weeks)
@@jaguargator7 you’re nothing if not straightforward. Appreciated. Honestly I wish I had the energy you do; when I was your age I didn’t even have half of it.
Strangely enough, this isn’t even the first time you’ve done a video on a pitcher who was named NL Rookie of the Year during the 1990s being falsely quoted as saying something disparaging towards another party, as was the case with Hideo Nomo in 1995. Though the two incidents are slightly different, in that Stinnett’s quote about himself was falsely attributed to Wood, and what it was claimed that Nomo had said was just a prank on a radio show.
I worked with the Cubs for 4 years. I know good people when I see em and have conversations with them. Kerry Wood is a genuine great guy who has helped under privileged kids get a hand up to better themselves. He doesn't have to do what he does but he does it out of the kindness of his heart.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks made the Playoffs by winning 100 Games, in 1999, won the 2001 World Series, and, returned to the Playoffs in 2002, and, the Cubs under Kerry Wood enjoyed great success, becoming a, Dynasty, under the unflappable managerial acumen of Dusty Baker, oh, wait.
I don't know how the USA Today writer who wrote that story got the quotes mixed up, but that can't happen. Anyone who knew Wood well had to know that something was up.
Prior maybe but Wood was already injury prone even before Baker got there, maybe he made it worse but I really don't think things would have been much different for Wood regardless.
@@iamhungey12345 He would have gotten a Pennant if Dusty Baker hadn't decided that the Cubs somehow could get over their problems without his help, indefensible.
@@TheSonicsean Yeah, and, despite him constantly undermining the success of teams, he kept getting more chances because he was a, "Father Figure," horrible, truly is.
I believe Kerry's 20 k game against the Astros was the beginning of the end for him. After all these years I never thought that until I watched the documentary about that game. He said that when he got that 20th k and did that fist pump he felt a weird twinge in his elbow. He expanded more on it but I won't go into it. I think he hurt himself with that fist pump. The injury was minor but slowly degredated his arm. Then came 2003 and the terrible management by baker. I'll never forgive baker for ruining Kerry and taking a world championship caliber team to a 100 loss team in 2 years.
I still believe the Cubs should've have at least made the World Series in 2003. I know those great, legendary teams managed by Joe Maddon make this all a mute point, and winning it all in 2016 makes this a forgotten footnote, but we were 5 outs away from making our first WS appearance in 58 years. I don't know if we win that season vs. Yankees, but then again, the team who beat us, the Marlins, defeated them in 7 games, and despite what we knew then, Torre's legendary Yankees Dynasty was about to come to a dramatic, melodramatic end a year later when they historically blew a 3-0 ALCS lead against Red Sox and allowed them to advance and win their first WS championship since WWI. So maybe Chicago could've upset Yankees and their loaded roster full of future HOFers. All it takes is winning 4 games.
@@davidroberts7282 I believe the baseball gods wanted the Cubs to in 03. That's how bad baker is. If the Cubs won in 03 that would have broken the longest drought in baseball leaving Boston as the longest drought. They won the next year. That would have left the White Sox with the longest drought when then won in 05.
Let's not go overboard, they couldn't beat the second flash-in-the-pan Marlins team, they'd likely, have lost the World Series, anyway, Dusty Baker's an idiot.
@@davidroberts7282 No chance, they lose in Seven Games, a hypothetical victory against the Marlins only means that Dusty Baker makes his catastrophic mistake later on.
@@djbeezy Dusty Baker's actually worse than that, despite getting a stacked team that had already won a World Series recently, he still needed Six Games, against an opponent that was far weaker, and, the injury to Jose Altuve, and, the departure of Justin Verlander, likely means that he never wins another, he's, the, Alvin Dark, and/or, Bob Lemon, of this generation.

At this point I think you should put together a UA-cam playlist of media lies and incompetence
A cocky baby bear
I’ve been waiting for your first Cubs video

He turned out to be a pretty good closer as well.
@@chrisp679 Briefly.
Injuries ruined that as well.
Arguing that the hit May 6 was really an error on Orrie
The media lied?!?! Imagine my absolute shock!!
Think you need to record a new intro, considering the lack of updates JG8 has received since you launched this channel.

Wow... incompetence at its worst. Most people don't see or read corrections... even if they are major ones like this.
This is good stuff

Here we go Wednesday video
Guessing the misquote was part of the game recap article that had no byline and is attached to the box score.
Kelly found quite a few nuts in 1999. He hit 14 HRs that season. Not bad for a blind squirrel.

I like The Chicago Cubs.
I remember dusty baker over using wood and prior that it messed up their very awesome careers. Mark prior had it all
Prior maybe but Wood was already injury prone even before Baker got there, maybe he made it worse but I really don't think things would have been much different for Wood regardless.
Really ruined both their careers.
Dusty Baker's an idiot that destroys teams by either being, Too Clever By Half, or, trying to show how, "Savvy," he is.
