My eyes opened a little wider when you started mentioning your Manjis' in your kit. When I started getting interested in harmonicas again as an adult, I was watching Brendan Power promoting the Suzuki Manji and eventually got several as my first set. Then I had the chance to speak with him when he was in Canada. I said I had a large set of Manjis' and all he said was... "I'm sorry for you." They are bright, loud and responsive. Just got tired of feeling the reed plates and have gotten to use now inset reed plates of the Kongsheng Mars 1 & 2, Amazing 20's (not deluxe) and Seydel Session Steel. Thank you so much for sharing your gear.
Nice heating pad idea. I have to change keys all the time with the diatonics, so they never start out warm. And with a cold chromatic I'm counting the seconds I can warm it in my hands before I have to play it. Sometimes I grip it with my neck to get it warm fast lol. I always dig your content.
Interesting, I never bring tools with me to gigs. But I always have spare harps with me. I have used many different cases and finally settled on a hard case. Enough room to hold harps, mics, and backup harps.
using handwarmer-pads in my diatonic case, makes indeed a difference for very low set up reeds( normaly ca 0,1 mm for the 'opening reed( hole 1-6 draw/7-10 blow, and 0,15mm for the opposite). BTW, do you bring microphones?❤
Detharp : thank you! I tried precise gapping to 0.1 and 0.15 on one harp. They were close but making them all right on made a huge difference. Simplifies the process too. Really helps! 😀
Thank you, that's interesting! Are you gradually reducing the use of the SCX Chromatix series of chromatic harmonicas? And what brand of cable do you use to connect the microphones?
Yes not so much SCX live now. Cables - i just use what the venue provide. I dont travel w cables if there is a PA. I don't know the brand of my own cables but I make sure to get a Neutrik connector.
Could one learn diatonic and chromatic harps simutaneously or should one learn one then the other. I want to lean both diatonic blues/folk and more technical classical and jazz, and no, I have no interest in trying to play jazz on a diatonic. I just really love the music and sound used with both types.
Good question! I don't think there is a correct answer. Maybe you will get a bit tired in the harmonica muscles. But you could see it as learning tennis and golf at the same time, of course doable!

Using a warming pad would be a game changer for wintertime gigs.
Yes!

Yes hands, pockets and armpit works too 😁

Sounds good w case! Yeah I have a smaller tool kit but this day we played 3 shows, so good to be prepared 😁
Great content. 1 have a c hornet. Great to play at. Play 20 minutes a day. It’s so much fun.
Couldn't agree more!

Smart! Yes I always bring 2 or 3 microphones. Forgot to film those. Next video!

May I ask where you got the case for the 16 holes, the 2?
Google search for Laelaps Harmonica, they are from Taiwan
Great content 🙌
No natural minors? 🙂
Tack! Not right now, they stayed home!
