CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After suffering a heart attack, Frank (Robert De Niro) is emotionally devastated to learn that his missing son died of a drug overdose.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Widower Frank Goode has had to make plenty of adjustments since losing his wife about a year ago, but maybe the hardest one has been maintaining his relationships with his four adult children. It would seem that Frank's wife was the glue who held the family together, and when all of the kids bug out on a planned visit home, he decides to set out on a trip around the country, dropping in on each of their lives in order to help put things right. But their relationships aren't as simple as they once seemed, and Frank's paternal intuition is telling him that his sons and daughters are hiding something from him - and if the Goodes want to become the family they once were, the truth will have to come out before Frank returns home.

This movie is criminally underrated. That's all i got to say.
It's not underrated. It was poorly marketed.
Could not agree more!
Это прекрасный фильм!!!
seeing Robert de Nero cry is like watching your dad cry. tough to watch.
Exactly! You can really feel his pain.
i know! 😢
This movie always reminded me of me. 2 kids who made excuses to not see him and a drug-addicted son. When my brother/ his eldest son did O.D, seeing my dad cry at his funeral was the biggest heartbreak I've ever felt. It also reminded me of this scene.
@@taurusguy9305 A father can be heartbroken knowing what happend to his son
I like seeing my dad cry , it's funny
This movie breaks my heart, it really does, because I can relate to it so much.
My father was always a strong man, my brother, my sister and I were all afraid to disappoint him. We'd make so many excuses and jump through so many hurdles just to not see him. As selfish as that sounds. My siblings just didn't want anything to do with them, I had another story.
Growing up, I was always special-ed. Being the Autistic in the family, I never could really accomplish anything and I was ashamed for him to have to see me, and have to call me his son. I know I should see him anyway because he loves me and I love him, but a diagnosis of Tourettes has made it worse.
He tries so hard to keep in contact with me, because I was the only kid left that did, but with my tics and not being able to do anything and lack of accomplishments; I was afraid to see him. Step-brother graduated in engineering and now owns a house and he's 2 years younger than me, here I am at 24 with nothing to show him, nothing to say he's proud of me.
This movie really does break my heart on a personal level. A father cares for his children no matter what. They want to part of your lives and they want to help you through the bad stuff.
To make it worse, my dad's name is Frank, as well, just like Deniro's character in this film.
What's worse, feeling ashamed or wishing you just had more time? If you keep pushing back and pushing back, soon you'll run out of time. Then you'll be left with nothing but the memories you had of him. And if the most recent memories are "Well I would talk to him but I feel ashamed" you're going to feel even worse than simple grief.
You're 24, you're not 30. You're not 50. You're young, you have time for a job. For a life. For success. You don't have nearly as much time with him though, and he'll simply care that you talked to him even if you're a layabout. Even if you're proud to have nothing, you're still telling him that you're proud to have nothing rather than saying "Some other time"
Trust me. It's better to just say screw it and talk anyway
Hi, man.
I read your post and I'd like to say something that hasn't been mentioned by anyone else; I'm 30 and in my opinion, life isn't about accomplishing things. What matters is that you're a good person and
good influence in the world, to the best of your ability at the time.
There are a lot of 'accomplished people' who are complete arseholes, very unhappy and make the world a way worse place.
Now, if someone is lazy and can't hold down a job or something, okay, fine, they could work on that. but its not the end of the world.. it can be fixed and there are plenty of worse problems to have.
in your case, it doesn't sound like laziness, it sounds like you have various difficulties that most people (including your dad) don't deal with.
It shouldn't take trophies for someone to see your worth.
SUCH a great actors, it looks SO real.. It's so sad
i've watched this like 4 times and i still crying...
Tri Dharma L ME too
Me too 😭
He reminds us in 4 seconds why he is the greatest actor ever ...
Something that we forget some moments, but he always be the king of acting
Facts
What I loved about this movie is the viewer sees both perspectives. How a parent pushes their kids to be successful because they don't want them to struggle financially and the childrens perspective of the pressure to achieve that expectation.
And haters say Deniro can't act anymore lol. They're insane. There will never be another Deniro
That’s cause they only see him in Little Fockers and Dirty Grandpa
Just watched this...it was so good! So well done. Made me sad at times...think my favorite is Frank seeing David's painting of the power lines!!! What a special feeling David had for his Dad. One of DeNiro's best. Moving..entire cast!
That part was powerful. It shows the dad that his son appreciated the sacrifices he made for his kids by working hard at his job (that's how I interpreted it anyways)
Incredible acting from Deniro
He is GOD afterall. GOD of cinema.
This film broke my heart. Made me cry buckets.
just finished seeing this movie, i loved every bit of it...it makes you realize certain truths about life
I wish Robert De Niro did more smaller, personal heartfelt dramas like this. He’s great in crime dramas, but he’s AMAZING in films like this.
This movie has always reminded me of my dad. We're Italian, also. Having 3 children that are awkward when it comes to avoiding their father. One mentally ill (me) and one with a drug problem (my brother).
Reality really comes at you hard when he also died of a drug O.D. And his name started with "D", too. :\
After the 1 year anniversary of his death (last month) I burned this movie onto a DVD and had my dad watch it. I wanted him to see why this movie always reminded me of us and our family/situation.
This movie will always be special to us because it mimics my family a lot.
I caught this movie once on fx, n this was one of the saddest scenes it really got me
When I saw this movie I hadn't seen my family in 10 months. I was so moved by this scene.
This movie has captured everybody’s heart that came across to watching it. Beautiful hidden gem. This is the movie that had me realize to be more PRESENT.❤
Can we see more of THIS Robert De Niro instead of Little Fockers and Dirty Grandpa De Niro
Beautiful movie.. so touchy.. I like Robert deniro acting 😍😍
I'm so glad I found out about this movie.. I was just flipping thru channels, once upon a time when satellite t.v was a thing, and I caught this somewhere after the beginning and I just kept watching it til the end and when this scene happened, bruh... 😣😣😣 I still get teary eyed to this day. Such a good movie
When he said, "Ha?" in 1:32
it was like my father when I spoke to him sometimes. It is tough to watch!
thats horrible...we dont tell our parents everything but we would never hold that back!
incredible work Bob
Dios del cielo que llorada que dio mi Papa.AAAAFECTA fuerte esto.
absolutely fantastic films, now one of my all time faves
This sucks own father didn't no his kid was dead
But everybody else knew😭😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞
This is my favorite movie
😢😢 Oh, God, this scene is so sad.
Great Masterpiece, so... it's about Life.
That's horrible...we dont tell our parents everythg but we would never hold that back
Not a masterpiece, just a remake of an italian movie by Tornatore that came out in 1990.
Tearjerker 😥😥....
It looks so sad
So good film :/
-is David here?
-no, we had a problem, and we tried to do everything we could
-what do you mean? What kind of problem?
-he’s gone, and there’s nothing we could do
Lmao I like the reference. 🤣
Almost same with Seven Sundays...
Hoho i saw the alternate ending for this movie..where david got 10years prison..n frank go n meet him at the end..great movie for both ending..
We’re is the alternative
i like that movie
whew...
is a good movie
Found the film depressing
They kept that from him??
Yes they did. And it makes me mad.
@@sbarrow06 I agree. It seemed ridiculous that they'd all be hiding so much--including the fate of one of his sons. I did not like this movie.
@@nathan-cone I didn't even like the way they went about it. As their father they have an obligation to tell him these things that he has a right to know.
😢😢😢
Nice
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
These 3 people have no respect for their father whatsoever!!! If they even cared at all, they would never have made excuses and just told him the truth!!!!
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. - Exodus 20:12-16 NIV
These guys completely refused to do that
Is not like that, in the movie all of them say that they always spoke with their mother about all of those issues. Their father didn't earn their respect and trust like their mother, that's why they never told him.
When they finally tell him what happened with David the first thing he says is 'that's not my son' and that kinda validates why nobody wants to talk about the harsh truth with him.
@@imnobodywhoareyouu You lack the ability to analyze the scene insightfully. They didn’t tell him because none of them want to face the music. They didn’t want the burden, and running from it was easier than facing it.
@@JourneyDestination we can all have our opinions 🤷🏻♀️
@@imnobodywhoareyouu did Amy have an affair too? If so where does it say that. I thought only her husband had one
@@anthonyhuaman2203 I didn’t say any of that.
:awesome:
It’s sad when the son passes away before your father does and it’s even worse when your father doesn’t get a chance to see his son before he passes away .That sounds so familiar to me🥹🥹
