      you are using an outdated version of the plugin (huge size). You no longer need to do this if you have TM2023+ and UE5+

    Hi Justin, how about the other way around- from Unreal 5.4 to Twinmotion 2024? How does that work? If I Blueprint some functionality, will it transfer to TM and work?
    Best regards
    Jesper

    Is anyone else having the issue where everything looks great in the preview, but when you export to VR (Quest), anything that came from TwinMotion exports with just the default checkered textures instead of the ones that are visibly imported into UE? It's not an export setting from UE because anything that didn't come from TwinMotion is fine. Everything from TM seems to have to be retextured in UE, even though the textures visibly imported into UE. I'm about to try importing the DataSmith file differently into UE to prevent this? Please let me know if anyone else experienced this & found a simple solution.

    Great tutorial! Justin, do you know if you can export those character path animations into Unreal? Twin Motion makes character paths super easy. But UE not so much.

    Hi, i did the same thing that you did in this video. But in my unreal engine screen all materials are grey blocked. The same with all my twinmotion files. I use twinmotion EDU atm is this the problem or what should i do? Thanks

    I think you might need to warn people that any model file larger than 1 GB is very likely to be unusable for datasmith export because of UE's 32 bit-based algorism.

    hi, there are tons of assets in twinmotion which we can download then export to unreal. but on the top it says for commercial use. what i'm curious is that does that apply to unreal engine as well? if we export the downloaded assets into unreal, can we use them even tho we don't have the premium for twinmotion?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials

      I don't know, but I doubt it. There's a list in that datasmith import tutorial document that talks about all the things that are and aren't working

  • @illbeback2YT
    @illbeback2YT Рік тому

    I haven't checked, but one might assume that the Data Smith link will bring in all the stuff from your SU model. Importing the complete library from TM therefore seems odd?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  Рік тому +1

      Not odd at all - bringing in the Twinmotion file would also import the changes you've made in Twinmotion, like material setup, trees/models you've imported, Quixel Models, etc. I just didn't do much in prepping this model in this video because the point wasn't making changes in Twinmotion, it was getting the model from Twinmotion to Unreal

    • @illbeback2YT
      @illbeback2YT Рік тому

      @@TheRenderingEssentials yeah, I understand it works the same with the Data Smith tool in Vectorworks, which I use to transfer the models and assets to Twinmotion. But still it sounds crazy having to download a complete library of about 30 Gb to be able to maintain the dynamic link to UE5

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  Рік тому

      @@illbeback2YT Yeah, I'm not sure why that plugin needs to be so big just to import things from Twinmotion - I'd imagine something in the back-end isn't quite working yet so they need that bigger file, but I don't know enough about the way the whole thing operates to be sure

    • @Lustigorn
      @Lustigorn Рік тому +1

      @@illbeback2YT in fact, you don't need to do that anymore. There is already a new version of the plugin for UE - about 0.6 gigabytes in size. I wrote it here but the comment was deleted.

    Is your course for 2023.1 with the new UI or the previous version of twinmotion. And if it is the later will you be releasing an updated version of your course?

    • @TheRenderingEssentials
      @TheRenderingEssentials  Рік тому +1

      The new UI won't even show up until 2023.2, so no, that's not incorporated right now as it hasn't been released. I will be updating the course when it comes out, but probably after it goes from preview version (which we don't have yet) to an official release

      @@TheRenderingEssentials I read somewhere that the new UI was coming out in March... I must have gotten my versions mixed up. Many thanks for the release info. I'll definitely be checking out the course.
