I recently ordered this macro flash and tested it out. I am very pleased with it, especially for the price. I tested it out with my Nikon D780 and Z7( using focus peaking) and my Nikon 105mm macro lens. The flash output is quite good and the flash is very intuitive and easy to use. I didn't need the owner's manual. I had good luck in manual and using TTL using my cameras' manual exposure mode. My only criticism is that the flash cable seems to be about 2 to 3" too short, but this isn't a big issue. Your video is excellent!

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed it as well. Always tough to criticize these things without having tried many others, but it definitely didn't let me down at least :)

@@ScottDumas The Nissin macro flash was my first choice but it is almost four times as expensive! The K&F is a good product and a great bang for the buck.

If you want TTL to work (at least on my Nikon D750) you have to make certain AUTO ISO is turned OFF! I used M mode, set the shutter to 1/250, and set the flash sync speed to 1/250 in the flash setup menu in the camera. I can now use whatever F stop I want, and the flash adjusts automatically. I suspect this is true on Canon cameras as well.

The ring flash I'm looking at has 8 adapters ranging from 49 to 77mm, but I don't know if one of those adapters will fit the Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm F3.5G ED VR macro lens well, so I don't know whether to buy the ring flash or not. I have seen that apparently no ring flashes come with adapter sizes below 49mm or above 77mm. How can I know if I actually will have the necessary adapter if I just go and buy that flash ring?

Hi, Nice video there. Did you have chance to explore Neewer R-160 flash light for Macro? wish to know your opinion on this.

From this review I can't seem to find any difference between this ring flash and a regular speedlite flash...

A major difference would be that it doesn't have problems for macro like a standard flash would, since the lens/flash angle wouldn't light the subject when it's on top of your camera.
