  • I go through how's and why's of snowboard waxing and edge tuning. Keeping your board in good shape is important if you want the most enjoyment from your snowboard. There are good tutorials out there explaining what to do but I wanted to share my take and show you how to avoid getting a dedicated waxing iron (specialized or domestic)!

Nice and simple thanks. However, I have one question that might seems silly: after removing the wax with a scraper, I'm using a nylon brush. After I finish brushing, the board should be really smooth, as a waxed car, or i should feel some drag by the wax on the board?

Hi, thanks. You should not feel any drag, the smoother for the touch, the better :)

When I wax and smear it in with my waxing iron there a small portions that do not receive wax. When I move the iron around the wax that dries up looks messy is that the case normally?

Wax must cover all parts of the board; don't leave empty spaces. And it is normal to look messy; it will look much better after you scrape it. And note that all the patches of wax need to be scraped off, i.e. no white spots left. Good luck :)

What temp did you have like wool or synthetic on the iron?

I set my iron to 3 out of 5 and its 2400W so you can work out what it corresponds to your iron. Again, start lower and you can increase if needed. I had my set to 2 initially. A good rule of thumb is that if the wax is smoking upon the contact with the iron, then you have it set too hot

Maybe try to clean up the wax outside on the ground next time, that will go into our water supply :( wax is already bad for the environment. helpful video though!

Learn your manners. That’s not how you say thanks. You are not his mum or wife so zip it and mind your own business
