I’ve been using this video as my referral video on edge tuning many times, from first time doing tuning the edges myself. It has made a huge difference on my boards performance and fewer days slipping sideways on the hill. Very informative content, thank you.
Does the degree angle effect the asymmetric edge like on a Burton custom twin? And how do I find out what angle it was setup as by the manufacturer? Anybody?
Someone please explain 89 vs 88 and which direction the file bevels need to face. Every video assumes we already know this basic info, but I’m looking up instructions for a reason.
I can only tell about the certain edge tuner design, like the one marketed by Dakine (there are some equivalent options like Demon Tools, etc.) It has two sides, marked 90 and 88. So whith such a tuner, the number you see is the one applied. If 90 is faced up when you are working on side edge, that refers to 0 bevel (90 degree edge). If 88 is faced up, then you are making a 2 of a bevel (88 degree edge). Note that one should not try working on the base edge with that very tool, as it won't keep straight enough. Better use a flat ceramic stone or a file, as shown in this video.
90 is 0 degree, 88 is a 2 degree. if your not a jibber, snowboard edges are usually 1 degree which is a 89 degree. I've been tuning for 7 years for Aspen Snowmass. if your a boarder i would stick with the 90 degree
I don't really need to know how to tune up my board, it is just more of like, "hey I wanna see some of the newer tools and how they use them." I have a stone and a file guide, but, they are older and I just want to see how different my tools are from the new ones and if I should invest In them. Never the less, it was a good video and I am gonna get a new file guide:)
Hey, So I was told that the file guide does both the side and BASE edge but in this video a seperate file was used for the base edge. Was i wrong? Cheers

But why did you file the side of the edge one way (nose to tail) and then file the base edge in the opposite direction?
can boys use this too
I don't believe so
you need to get a tuner that is made for men. try gillette
Well Done Lesley, great tutorial!

Same question here, have no ideas...
Well done. Great details.
if i have a board with an 1/1 89* angle how should i use this guidefile? should i only use it on the sidegde with an 1* bevel set?
Wow, that really helps a lot! Awesome vid!

what type of file are you using for the base? And as asked below, is the gummy stone and "stone" you referenced the same? Thanks for the video....
great video thank you
Oh thank-you you finally answered my question!!!:)
Looks like everyone has their own way of doing this
Why the big file when you can use the fileguide for both the base edge and the side edge?
When you said "stone" were you talking about a gummi stone?
I think either that or an alu oxide stone which is grindier
awesome video burton, really helpful :D
I live in richford Vermont and ride jay peak
gummi stone to detune works better and allows you to slowly detune it and not take too much off
My friend has a Dakine edger that has 90 degree and 88 degree. Is there really any difference?

cool story!
weird, I had Burton Tech Support tell me my base bevel is 1° and my side edge is at 89° for my T6 and Sherlock
Tan N I was told the same thing about burton boards.
Thank you ❤
