I like seeing someone impersonate my dad in one of his more cheerful moods for almost three minutes.
This reminds me of the time Shatner was on SNL and did a skit wherein he told the Trekkies to move out of their parents basement and get a real job/life.
Well done sirs!
...he ain't wrong.
Even if Disney made the trilogy that Lucas agreed on, from what is known that would be bad as well.
It would be a meme factory.
No "Why Would You Say Something So Controversial Yet So Brave?" meme?
Man tells me may the 4th while holding up the star trek symbol 🤣Somehow Disney made a good Star Wars show in Andor, and all the Star Wars fans were like "meh it's boring there are no lightsaber fights" - this is why we can't have nice things.
I agree with this, Mandalorian showed early promise and Andor was good. Star Wars can support good stories, it's just that the fans can't.
It wasn't "star wars fans" that didn't tune in. It was normies who think that it's nothing but lightsabers and pew pew boom who didn't tune in.
A buddy of mine told me I'd probably appreciate Andor, the problem is... Star Wars is dead and I don't care. I gave Episode 7 a chance, but by episode 8 it seemed clear to me that it was over. I went with my friends to see 9 out of morbid curiosity because I couldn't fathom how they'd recover from 8 and, Surprise! They didn't. It was a train wreck. Then they talked me into giving The Mandalorian a go, and I thought it had a strong premise but was showing the cracks by the end of season 1. Season 2 was just bad, and I didn't bother with season 3. I haven't let them talk me into wasting time on anything else, so even if Andor "Isn't bad"... I don't care. Star Wars is dead. Any lingering good will or positive association the franchise once had is gone, my fond memories of my best friend and I watching the movies as a kid are all tainted by the current garbage. I don't think I'll even show the old ones to my kids when they get older. That's a door I think I'll leave closed.
Lots of people really liked it
Right…
Because, lightsabers didn’t keep me around. Even though, the Jedi are a MAJOR FUCKING PART IN STAR WARS. All original six films (including the new sequels) have lightsabers in them AND THE JEDI. Of course people are going to be bored with Star Wars without the Jedi. It’s like having Planet of the Apes without the fucking Apes!!!
Is not the politics and downfall of the Jedi interesting? Of course! That’s like saying the Samurai aren’t interesting in their peaceful era; a load of rubbish.
No one is saying Andor is bad because of no lightsabers. Hell, you can say Book of Boba Fett and Mando are bad because they add that shit in. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Luke showing up in Mando, but damn, let it go! Disney fucked up with the sequels, so they should move on and own up to the mistakes made. That’s the problem we fans have. Disney can’t own up to a mistake, neither can most studios. If you claim to be an artist and creator, you need to admit when your work is bad and do better. Every great artist has done this.
Nostalgia will corrosively destroy the planet
My boy is one year old, he doesn't understand the politics in Episode 1 and how it led to the Jedi's downfall in Episode 3 yet. Minions thought, he understands their barbarous tongue fluently.
Nostalgia is the opiate of the masses
Same for Harry Potter.
Same for every legacy franchise.
I ran a dreaded "spouse game" and Traveller was too much for the ladies. So we played Star Wars instead.
Thankfully Star Wars has had some excellent TTRPG rulesets or I otherwise wouldn't have been able to do it.
An elegant system from a more civilized age
"You still belong in that locker they shoved you in." Somebody call the police, I've just witnessed a murder.
Bro… HAHAHAHAAA! This is some “4D Chess” Trolling right here, Steve. As an advocate to preserve the hobby/life style of beloved fictional worlds like Masquerade, you are clearly leveraging your own cognitive dissonance for a jab and a laugh. I wonder how many viewers will fail to see this dimension of your humor in the slap 👋of your delivery. A good joke takes balls and a willingness to risk offense. You swung for the fences Black Lodge 🤣
Well that was a boatload just bollocks. A good medium or franchise matures with it's audience. Even recent SW showed that in case of "Rouge One" and the Andor series that i can make interesting stories and characters aimed at adult audience.
I love this tag and I think some people might be missing the point. I think he’s being a lot more clever.
Black Lodge: "There. Fix´d it for you."
[Everyone liked that.]
Big Thank You to the Gentlemen of BLG, this video actually brought a smile to my face on a rather rancid day. And made me want to replay Jedi Academy. May the 4th be with you.
Lol this dude killed a whole fandom damn son 😂
one good thing about animes is that they end, good histories have an end. lord of the rings, Dune, starship troopers, all have an end, full metal alchemist has an end, things without an end are cheap
Idk, lol a lot of those animes have their creators die before they end. One Piece, Dragon Ball, even Naruto is still going through its spin-off. Bleach is starting again. All the big ones seem to never want to end, lol
@@alexabel8010 Yeah but those aren't the best animes.
This man woke up and chose violence.
This channel is some next level shit. I swear, the meme gods of 2015 resurrected you guys from somewhere and made a channel.
The Meme War began in 2012. Where were you, soldier?
I'm not sure if this is meant to be ironic or not. As such, I will interpret it as I wish.
Live long and prosper -- Teal'c, Jedi Master
The way you fix Star wars is to run a game that's better than any Disney movie, and that's not too difficult.
Depending on the role it plays in your life and how you approach it, caring about a shared fictional universe isn't any more useless or immature than any other pastime, or than rooting for a sports team you don't personally know any members of. Or (ahem) playing make believe with dice. What Disney is doing is not just failing to tell good new stories, but hijacking a story that (whether you like it or not) is a part of our culture now, and perverting it to try to make people weak minded, obedient, and immature. Walk away.
Someone was trying to say I talked like a Star Wars defender a couple months ago, and I’m happy to say I have no idea what he was even talking about. I knew Disney Star Wars was going to be sh*t and unlike that person, was smart enough to avoid everything they’ve made in 10 years with the logo.
No idea why people go to a theatre or turn on the tv to watch something they already know they will hate. I guess I’m just not one of those people.
It’s fine to analyze why it’s terrible, but expecting it not to be is where I have an issue. Analysis and criticism is necessary for author and corporation growth. But why give them any money in the meantime? Sometimes the starving artist is the best one.
Hmmm it didn’t die. It was murdered (at least in part) and that’s why many people are upset. And rightfully so.
My impression is that this take is a misframe. Deliberate or not.
So while it tries to be the ‘voice of wholesome normalcy’, it doesn’t make it. It is whiny, karen-y, and disingenuously limp wrist.
Hm. I did like the channels video on DnD and becoming fully immersed though. That’s legit. But I would argue it is at cross purposes to tell people to become appreciators of truth via art and immersion in it and then reducing them in the next breathe to caricaturizes who need to be ‘normal’ and ‘grow up’.
That shows a shallow understanding of just what it is all these stories are about.
And it shows the speaker himself is the one living in a fairy tale. A damn silly one too.
I remember a friend's older brother had surgery to remove a brain tumor while in college -- the surgery was a success in that he lived & the tumor was gone...but it left him with the mind of a child. Then he saw "The Phantom Menace." Adults & children alike were lambasting Jar-Jar, but HE loved it and thought we were all idiots for not loving the *ahem* bold new direction the films had taken.
I doubt that this story is factual, but that doesn't mean it's not true.
Watching Andor right now, best star wars writing in decades, or ever.
Amen to that! 👏
100%. I don’t understand why people can’t just let stories finish.
Because they’re broke and are trying to milk the dry cow / ride the “broken” horse.
This is a the veggies we gotta eat before enjoying the ice cream.
I loved Andor. And the books for many years, granted I joked and called them my "harlequin romance trash paperbacks" but with lightsabers and blasters.
Amen Nick. Preach it.
This is the kind of message I want to see delivered to so many reddit subs. Do furries next!
the only way for it to be delivered to reddit is for someone to post it there for us :)
In Soviet Russia, furries do *you* next.
This entire video was destroyed by Andor.
I’ve enjoyed Star Wars since I was a child and I continue to do so and I don’t care what anyone else thinks
Good for you. Now clean your room and come for dinner.

Just watched the prequels with my girlfriend the other day. Pretty good night. Would recommend.
God, I love this channel.
Somebody somewhere needed to hear this.
Many people need this
hehehe doing the vulcan salute and saying may the forth!
My takeaway from this video is that Hollywood needs to make new stuff.
Yeah, Star Wars didn't evolve at all from its original form: a simple story about good and evil set in space. But it also did some interesting worldbuilding that has a lot of potential. For instance, why aren't the jedi and the sith seen as the religious extremist groups that they are? Why isn't the Force explored more, beyond what the plot demands of it? I'm not even a SW fan and I can see a few ways it could be remade as a better sci-fi setting.
Personally though, I'm more than fine with letting it stay dead. Rebirth means leaving corpses behind to make new ones.
I liked Star Wars so much as a child that I'm using a minor character as an avatar and user name.
I also completely agree with this.
"let the past die, kill it if you have to"
You took the words out of my soul that I didn't know how to communicate for years.
Everyone forgets that Georges Lucas made Star Wars as a mash-up of the matinee movies that he loved : Westerns, Samurail movies and WW2 fighters movies. He did not do world building or wrote a Star Wars bible, he made it along as he went. This is why I still enjoy Star Wars, but remembering its roots. Apart from Episode IX, I enjoyed everything that has been put out so far. Some I enjoyed less than other but it is still Star Wars....at I love Star Wars....just not Episode IX....and Jar Jar.... Nice video Sir!
Nah. Simply wrong, incorrect statement.
The likes of ANDOR proves StarWars still has PLENTY of sauce for good stories in it, not as a STORY to be endlessly retold, but as a SETTING to be explored and act as the stage to explore universal human themes and messages on. It's the dogmatic belief that it is the former that's the real problem, and takes like this only inadvertently contribute to that notion. People have been telling stories about (ostensibly) the real world for literally thousands of years, do you think that's a completely deadly horse too?
@@void-creature this video is about you in particular.
@@blacklodgegames could you elaborate on that? Because I very much do not feel addressed within the big monologue you gave. Sure, I cannot deny that I have **some** emotional attachment to StarWars (but neither can you, seeing as how you've made this video), but I don't really care about its current state apart from the parts of it I do like.
I just think the notion that people should just STOP telling stories in a world they think is interesting because of how often people before have done the same thing is incredibly cynical, pointless, and honestly a little stupid.
This guy probably couldn’t tell a Twi’lek from a Togruta.
Yes, that is a good thing.
@@blacklodgegames Isn't it more of a neutral thing? Like either way, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter if someone can tell two Star Wars species apart, lmao
There's only 3 Star Wars movies and I watch them as much as I watch any movie I like. I think I'm the only person I know who wasn't distracted by shiney memberberries in Rouge One to know that it was trash. I'm glad to see Ginger Frasier finally came to the light.
I love it. Thank you so much for this message.
To be fair, you can say this to just about any fandom in this era!
...and Yes, it includes VtM, GROW UP nerds! =P
The nerds here just laugh and clap at your facts. Weird.
I've got some issues that prevent me from getting married or a job so I'm not sure how applicable this is
Would be interesting to see your thoughts on PBTA systems. Also have you considered reviewing Kult: Divinity Lost?
Not fans of PBTA but love the setting of Kult. Looking into previous editions rules sets at some point.
I'd have to disagree with the idea that theres only one story to tell. Look at the extended universe or the old republic. Disney just needs to let it go and passionate people need to focus on stories outside the og trilogy and the prequals, regardless of the nostalgibators.
You're right being a hardcover fan boy at one thing Is big mistake
Man, some one needed to shill hard.
💯💯💯 man it crazy that there are literally middle aged men who have cried over star wars. I mean i do wish that they would make some interesting movies on different characters as it is an interesting universe but then i doubt that will happen and not going to spend my life getting obsessed over it
Nah. I'm gonna point and laugh at the failures of corpos
This is amazing.
Very true, thank you for saying so.
FINALLY! Someone says it!
Nostalgia is a toxin of the mind. The fact anyone dwells in the past enough for the out of touch zombie freaks of Hollywood to notice ought to be a condemnation of everyone that encouraged this behavior.
This "franchise" is 12? Movies deep and how many are good? 2?
Cool, I'll go pre order more star wars toys
The people who need to hear this the most will recoil the hardest.
This says a lot about society
We live in one.
@@blacklodgegames whoa
Not a Star Wars fan here - but Andor rules. Andor is better than the vast majority of prestige television available today. So you're wrong on at least one front. But also, telling other people to grow up while you're filming rage bait about a children's movie franchise speaks to a serious lack of self-awareness
Wrong.
@@blacklodgegames There's absolutely zero chance that a mentally healthy adult would think to make rage bait videos like this. It's genuinely embarrassing. I would urge you to take your own advice and grow up
Funny thing is Andor sounds like the French verb for "put to sleep". And put me to sleep it did. 90% of its time wasted in platitude, technobabble even Trekkies would fond tedious and plots that go nowhere with characters whose names you forget in seconds. Politicians talking bored you? Now we have BUREAUCRATS and OFFICIALS talking during the most tedious and soulless work meetings in the Galaxy. Aren't you entertained? And let's get rid of the force, the magic, the fairy tale that made Star Wars. Let's get a dystopia and call it Star Wars after sucking all the charm from it. And when hope and victory finally comes to reward hours of agony, it disappears. Big prison-break? We will never know what happened to the prisonners or Andy Serkis. A whole planer revolting? Nah, let's just have a little riot and never hear about the outcome (except maybe in the next Season which will never come because too many watchers lost consciousness before episode 3 or went back to sleep at épisode 4)
Andor was only 3 episodes with some good parts and that's it.
Thx for coming to my Ted talk and have a good day.
@@Oscar_Lasco This is definitely the type of reply that I would expect from somebody who watches videos like these
A nerd that's hyper focused on being the best TTRPGer telling other nerds to grow up and stop hyper focusing on Star Wars like a nerd. Nice. This was the best May 4th video I've seen so far. 🤘 However, I'm just as hypocritical cause I'd probably be giving the same exact advice to SW fans while also trying to be the best adult TTRPGer I can be. And I love the original trilogy. 😆
Lol at the soy music at the beginning
So... Who likes Andor?
Magnificent
You are wrong. The first 3 movies were great. Why read the book The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers. The new ones are lackluster because they try to tell a narrative and don't care about story telling.
Why indeed.
@@blacklodgegames read the book and you'll understand. But short it is a basic Hero's Journy. The other moves aren't.
@@garycastaldo7692 powerful insight.
@@blacklodgegames about the book, I world recommend it for anyone invested in running or playing a RPG. I'll also add the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. Understanding were stories come from and what makes a good one is important for RPGs.
Alright, J scott garibay
I have opened my third eye to Garibay wisdom.
I dunno, that's a pretty restrained take on it.
Star Wars really is just marvel levels of regurgitated dogshit at this point but people still somehow pretend it's a serious thing that's better than this other thing
It's hilarious
The only good thing to come out of this franchise were the early 2000's star wars video games

Many such cases
You should do one of these for every franchise
Y u do dis? 😢
It's for your own good
You need to remind people.
Star Wars actually is pretty deep whether that was intended or not. But the corpse analogy is fairly apt. George tried to sell us Weekend at Star Wars, but us still watching Weekend at Star Wars 2 from Kathleen Kennedy with a female corpse being dragged around is pretty pathetic. I will say Andor is one of the exceptions. Star Wars that actually grew up along with us. Wish we had a lot more of that. Bitter dystopian facist controlled corporatized government that you have almost no chance of overthrowing and no magic Jedi to save you, could be pretty relevant in our modern times.

Thank you for your service.
One of your worst videos. Psychopathic gaslighting is not really appealing or normal. This is very weird, and I align with you guys on every level, but not on your lack of empathy and sociopathy in the way you deliver messages. Being brutally honest is good, but saying stuff like "you are trash" and "eating your own vomit", plus all this gaslighting, is silly. I don't care about Star Wars at all, but celebrating the two first movies is totally okay and normal. They're great films. You are just making bad points. I'd love to roleplay in the Star Wars universe of the first movies, and I don't recognize the rest of the movies at all, but that's no different than roleplaying in the Conan or Vampire universes. How is that "eating your old vomit"? What are you even talking about?
Star Wars does not suck. It's an amazing story and at least two incredible films. What a silly video.
@@Sinekyre14If you can't recognize that this video is deliberately incendiary and hyperbolic to get under people's skin (namely people like you), I don't know what to tell you. It's like feeling personally offended by an AVGN video
I didn't take the video too seriously. Especially with Hall of the Mountain King, which is one the most recognizable meme songs, playing in the background. I get the impression he was being overly hostile as a play at humor, and I got a good laugh out of it. But that's just me.
I’m not going to lie.. I’m feeling personally attacked here.
Star Wars was a great Saturday morning 2 reeler and should have been left as that. Trying to turn it into some deeply meaningful story ruined it. And you're right watching it with your kids and grandkids is the right solution. Do you know where I can get Animaniacs on video?
