- This is an AMAZING addon for Blender that allows you to create seamless textures directly from within blender. You can create textures for Blender, generate concept art for Blender, or even use the cycles pass to tuern basic geometry into stunning works of art. All for free, all inside Blender.

Don’t like AI art, it removes the entire point of art.
A lot of art is comissioned, so it dosen't matter whether it's fun to do, what matters is that it's done well and on time. also some people like modelling but not texturing.
There is no real point if art except the viewing and making of it. The mentality that art has a specific point or reason and this AI generated imagery is removing said point, means you either dont properly understand art, AI images and/or you do art for specific reasons
@@DarkPortall exactly, I have a lot of trouble texturing things personally and Im going to get this plug in so I can have more time doing the things I enjoy in the 3d world

Why can't a 6yo child drawing be hung at a gallery, but 50yo drawing like a 6yo is and is revered as something revolutionary?

I worked in the games industry before so I’ll share my thoughts. If this is strictly for fun and just to maybe share ideas of what your game would consist of. I think that’s fine since your getting an idea out there. However if someone is using this to post as a portfolio piece or even claim they did the work vs stating it was generated. This part is bad and no I don’t consider people who use ai artists because they are just putting in their ideas and letting the ai do the work. Here’s a little behind the scenes with ai, in order for this to work it has to sample from other artists work which means your using copyright content. As soon as I saw the models textures in the video they look very similar to another stylized asset I saw. I don’t think this will take over because of that and the fact that it can’t do everything unique that still requires an artist. Just my thoughts but being an artist is a craft and it does pay off well if you know what your doing. 😊

But also we need to be careful of gatekeeping and stifling innovation. It's a difficult line to define

@@tornandfrail i agree, and while it's a daunting idea - I don't think that it will. AI will be a tool to use alongside art i believe. AI art is in its infancy right now. i think it would take so much more to actually replace an artist.

AI is a tool, just like Photoshop or ZBrush. An artist is still necessary to come up with the idea and use the AI to make it. And if you don't want to use this new tool, then its existence will only increase the value of your art. There will always be a demand for things that are made by a human. Mass-produced Ikea furniture is cheap. Handmade custom furniture from a professional carpenter is expensive. This is the same kind of situation.
@@BeinIan Yeah and 90% of people buy the table from IKEA. That still means a hell of a lot less jobs for carpenters.

No this is copyright infringement. Not to mention computer generated art can not hold a copyright according to our Supreme Court, not to mention it's stealing art and mixing it together. Still theft no matter how you look at it.
Yeah he will be needed, someone needs to operate the ai, and maybe do manual work, you can't do small work on these with ai, you get something and work from there

@@neolordie I might be very wrong but, I don't see that many texturing artists in any field, usually is a couple, and those couple will make better things faster with the help of AI. There is a great video of a guy doing a PS1 style game, and he used this addon to create the base for a texture he later on mixed into something new, it saved him a lot of time, and that's what I feel most of these tools will do moving forward, save time

Cool. Not game optimized. Possible lawsuit if it looks like anything that is already been copyrighted. They'll have to start charging for it soon in order to pay lawyer fees. Might be good for prototyping. There's lots of free textures out there for that though.
It uses an open source AI model, so really any issues that may surface should have already, and you guessed, no issues as far as we know. It's extremely useful for layering filters to gain an artistic effect or for details/background objects in scenes. It's useful.

@@achillesworks There are plenty of free textures online, and unwrapping them so isn't difficult. And the quality will be better and optimized. So the people who want to use others work because they aren't skilled or patient enough will likely have shit projects anyway. Good luck.

What if I told you you need some good gpu for it? (atleast it doesn't work on a 1660)
Yeh 1660 is a pain because you can't use half precision on it. Try disabling it in advanced settings

@@kendarr I can't say exactly because my 1660 isn't in my machine but you find the option under Advanced -> optimizations. Disable Half-precision

@@NawmpsAI is useful as a tool if you use it to learn, but most people are abusing it and letting it think for them, it will make most of humanity even stupider than they already are, on one hand AI such as this can help someone who doesnt necessarily have the time or means to do specific things, but on another hand it turns entire projects soulless

I would tell you you're going nowhere as an artist if you let AI do the work for you. Every part you hand over to the AI to do for you is a part you will gain 0 experience in.
In due time ai will be making art better than any human, faster and in bigger quantity. You may stay an oldschool artist like painting on canvas for self satisfaction sake. i see the team and power of 1000 ai robots behind the artist, ready to aid in making art exactly as we invisioned. That goes without saying the talent involved in using them properly. If ai can read the minds patterns and the bodies hormones through nuralink, you wont even need buttons and dials, its all a mental game.

As human beings by design we assosiate pain as progress and through experiencing enough pain, art. the end result of a master painter or body builder being the biproduct of visible struggle.
Should our childrens children merge with machine and allow it to fully replace their struggle, will derrive life of most meaning we have become accustom and what it means to be human. Human beings themselves are a form of art and art being a reflection of the creator, thus there will never truly be the death of art as we know it until mankind is extinct or entirely merge with machine.
