Fun fact about sleep paralysis, the brain naturally does it during REM stages to prevent you from acting out your dreams and thrashing about, and it's essentially a disorder if that doesn't happen. This is accomplished by the pons sending messages to your muscles. Normally when you wake up those messages stop, thus allowing you to move, but sometimes there can be a delay and you wake up unable to move for a bit. Hallucinating a giant spider descending on your face from exhausting while that happens is terribly unfortunate. Hopefully understanding it makes it a bit less terrifying though.
2:16:46 Rare occurrence of zike pausing while there is a chain chomp staring at the screen, making it look like the bowser time graphic has eyeballs lol
When you do Neon Heights, you should show off 8 player mode, with you controlling both characters to your controller. Then you could have a chance to get that rocket happening star.
In general I feel even when playing alone an eight player game beats a four player game. You get more minigames, five spaces in your inventory for Orbs, and access to two character Orbs, and all you lose access to is being able to roll a 1.
I feel like the worst part of the duels in this game isn’t just the odds of a dud, but that like… the fact that you can’t control whether you take coins or stars or the amounts of each means even if you don’t get a dud, there’s a good chance you don’t get the thing you need. It effectively is just chance time
My second favourite board, after Pagoda Peak. I always set a 9 star handicap here. It's really funny how almost none of the mic minigames are actually better served by having a mic, and that's assuming input lag weren't even a factor. You could easily convert all of them except *maybe* mathemortician and number crunchers into regular controller games, as far as I can tell. Here are a few unique effects I thought of that could be used to modify the orbs of the characters in this video. Let me know your thoughts! For Wario and Waluigi, you could threaten the shopkeep when the vacuum orb is available for a shot at either getting the vacuum orb for free, getting kicked out of the shop before you can buy anything, or the shopkeep doubling the price of everything in the shop that turn to spite you, 50/25/25 odds. If you're in 4th place, they won't kick you out, and it's a 50/50 between getting the orb and doubling the price of everything. If you pass by the shop with too few coins to even view the items, there's a 50% chance that, at the end of your turn, it's revealed that you just so happened to swipe the vacuum orb from the shop as you passed it, assuming you don't already have a vacuum orb (so you can't use this while you're low on coins to stockpile multiple vacuum orbs at once). That'd make up for it having the weakest effect, I think, and be a nice and unique way to show more of Wario and Waluigi's personality. Plus if the shopkeep raises the price on you, that could help contribute to the shopping star! For Yoshi and Birdo's orb, you'd get to keep the orbs you pick up even if it bypasses the cap of 3, up to a new cap of 5. If you're playing a team game and already have a cap of 5 orbs, it stays at 5. You can't increase your total number of orbs again until you get it under 3 though, outside of using another egg orb, and you're forced to use or destroy one of your orbs (though you can choose which) every turn that you can until you get back to 3 (if you have multi-turn orb effects in play, you don't have to worry about it for those turns). Acquiring a new orb forces you to toss one and replace it, as though you were at 3. Any orbs above the special cap of 5 that you choose not to hold onto, instead of being destroyed, are scattered randomly across the board like koopa kid orbs, the only difference being they won't replace your own spaces unless there are no open spaces left. Green orbs, however, are still destroyed. For Toad and Toadette, an interesting buff to the triple shroom orb (that it doesn't really need, to be fair) would be allowing you to modify the orb by using a different mushroom orb while it's in effect. For example, turn 1, you use the triple shroom and roll double dice blocks. Turn 2, you use a super shroom and roll triple dice blocks. Turn 3, since you used a super shroom you get to roll triple dice blocks *again* for the last turn of the triple shroom. It essentially converts the remaining turns of your triple shroom into whatever mushroom type you use. This is extremely powerful so if this were to actually be implemented, the orb would have to be made rarer on orb spaces, and more expensive in the shop, or skew more toward 4th place getting it rather than 1st. For Peach and Daisy, the flower orb could have the additional effect of creating a flower shield when you land, making the space you land on give you 5 coins (as if it were your own character space) instead the space's normal effect (and replacing the final 3 coin payout of flower movement, unless you roll a 1 in which case it decides to be nice and give you both the 3 coins and the 5 coins). This could block you from having to deal with enemy character spaces, bowser, red spaces, negative happenings, etc. But if you were to land on a space you would have actually wanted the effects of, like a good happening, DK, or anything else, you're still shielded from it by the flower and it doesn't activate. This also means you don't trigger happenings and red spaces for their respective bonus stars, making it more situational where you'd want to use it. While you're standing on the space occupied by the flower, if an opponent lands on the same space, the flower springs up and launches them back or forward up to 2 spaces, making them activate whatever space that was instead of being able to share your protective flower. It prioritses setting your opponent on the worse of the viable spaces, preferring bowser spaces, then your character spaces, then character spaces other than the person being launched, red, koopa kid, duel, happening, blue, their own character spaces, mic, and finally dk. All things being equal, it would rather move them back than forward. If moving forward would push them past a junction, and both have an equally bad space, it will pick the junction that has the longer path to the star or treasure chest, or a random one if not on a board with stars or treasure chests. If it's right next to the top of Pagoda Peak, it will launch them onto the dragon cannon happening, prioritising it even over bowser spaces. Since it has the highest preference for launching onto bowser spaces, and a mid-priority for koopa kid spaces and duel spaces, there's a chance that if you happen to land next to one it could ruin *your* game (or, more rarely, save it), but the flower doesn't care about the specifics, it's a flower. Even in her orbs, Peach and Bowser are drawn to each other.
I got an idea. What if, just what if, 4 players play Mario Party 7 but they can only go for Bonus Stars? No stars from the board, or no chain chomps in this board's case.
You start to get used to sleep paralysis honestly. I had it until a few years ago and I'd wake up feeling like a corpse and have to "force myself out of rigor mortis"
this actually gives me an idea related to medical things. If sleep paralysis feels exactly like being paralyzed from other things would it be possible to be awake and never get out of sleep paralysis? If thats possible is there a way to artificially turn that part of the brain off?
Love how in a TAS-Video of this game, the TAS flexes on the Minigame "La Bomba" by standing right next to the Bob-omb and then moves a tiny amound to no longer be in the blast range.... Guess they don't have that big of a hurt box... Got reminded of this when watching this stream.

omg your story about how you'd pretend to play pokemon reminded me about how in 5th grade I used to rip out scraps of paper and draw pokemon and stuff on them then play with them like toys in the middle of class (I was a weird kid tbh)
I've also had sleep paralysis not that infrequently. But I also usually have lucid dreams, including lucid bad dreams. It's pretty fucked, but I got used to it.
