It’s really interesting to see how it’s changing in regards to the people they aim to attract to Magaluf. It’s looking absolutely stunning there! I think that stag and hen parties etc may get priced out of. Magaluf.
It prices the families out more than the stag/hen parties. Mallorca is one of the most expensive places to go, the average family they are trying to attract can’t afford it when the mainland is far cheaper

I expect that is the "push" from the restriction laws that has lead to the change this year rather than next because it's an early Easter and a longer potential season they are missing being closed until the late spring.

I have seen loads of people asking the same question and while the hotel is sending emails and responses out with they will be serving full AI, the current rules at present say other wise, so either theyre going to ask for them to be taken out the red zone, or someone somewhere in the hotel doesn't know the current rules in place. The issue with it is IF they was to be able to serve a full AI, then places like Samos and Innside which are over the road will then want to also, as they are also classed as family hotels. Hello, we’re looking to book Magaluf in beginning of April as we’ve heard it’s starting to become more premium. Will places be open? Or recommend coming later in the year?
I feel like magaluf is just one tiny road (we called it the strip) there are so many family places elsewhere. I can see why they want to get rid of the strip as yes it is full of carnage, but for me it breaks my heart. I worked in maga for 10 years. It was the funniest place in the world and I have the best memories from there as do millions of stag/hen/young people & workers over the years ❤❤. So yeah. If you look at how tiny magaluf is I don't see why it needs to change when everywhere else is family based and they could go there instead x
Sorry to hijack this video...we're in Majorca today and tomorrow (12+13/1/24) and would be grateful if you could recommend a few restaurants where we can get 3 course nice meals. Thank you
Hi, during January and February up til the end of March, some places that were open before Christmas will close for refurbishments in resorts. I havne't been to CAn Pastill this week at all so can't comment.. However there is plenty open around the island and in Palma. I haven't been back long so I didn't actually go out specifically looking at restaurants when I made this video. There is a great Spanish place next to Benny Hills in Magaluf called the Europe Restaurant serving Spanish food, if it's magaluf you are looking for, but my recommendation would be to go to Palma.
@@nattiewood9855 I think Zeplins etc is open in Maga tomorrow - check their Facebook - also check the calvia noticeboard Facebook group as they normally update restaurants that are open !
I was in contact with the goverment in Majorca and the tourist department. The told me that they don’t want europeans and scandinavians to come to Majorca anymore. They are now going to attrackt the rich american marked and rich chinese marked only.
I can remember a few years back (2014 ish) they came out with the same old stuff and all they wanted was the Russian money and tourists, the menus etc all started having Russian language etc and that lasted about a season then all the Russian tourists all went back to Cyprus.
Turning a party hotel into family hotel is very selfish in my eyes. So many family hotel la in that area already. Also the party goers encourage the upscale refurbishment. I first seen it in 2019 when I went and it looks nice. Ppl who come to party want to stay in places anyway. Gone are the days when ppl want to stay hotels like the Inbetweeners movie.
Love going magaluf as a non partying person, its the hotels and bars causeing the issues, large groups of drunk brits causing a mess in the hitels and the hotels do nothing about it
I e been going every year since 1986 for me 80s was the best times over there we partied all night but you didn't have the robbing prostitute's and the youngins were much better behaved in them days. Ive got to say the beach bars are really nice but the drink prices are now eye watering. I mostly go to the Piano Bar these days, staff are brilliant and ive had many a good time there. The prices have now stopped us going several times a year which is sad for us as we love the place. Benidorm is taking the place of Magaluf now for us but we got the photos and memories of our amazing times there.
That’s such a shame Daryn and it’s the islands loss not having it’s loyal holidaymakers here. Let’s see how busy the resorts are this summer before prices drop …
I'll come help if it isn't ready haha, also love your channel binged about 3 hours last night, and yes, that would be great. I'm looking forward to it 😊
Never really comment but some of the comments on this video are mad, prob from people who haven’t even been or once in the last 10 years. While it’s true Magaluf is going through some changes it’s being slammed through by local council when covid gave them the perfect chance with their emergency rules. Even so much so that it was said you couldn’t even use ‘Magaluf’ in your new establishment title, because they wanted to push ‘Calvia beach’. The place was once super vibrant and lively day and night is now dead during the day and while night time does fair better it’s nowhere near pre 2020. What you have to remember is (and this is happening) people will just go to other parts of the island, so it pushes a problem minority somewhere else, buses are put on to send people outside ‘the Red zone’ and bringing them back later. The prices are rising so much so it could even price itself out of a market, then what happens to all the locals and business owners when they can’t afford to stay open or hire that extra local member of staff etc. Magaluf will always continue to be a place people go, until you physically can’t anymore or it’s priced that high that other places are better value, but if the teens (and everyone inbetween) who have ‘disposable income’ can’t afford to be there how do they expect a family of 4 to be there? They’ll be able to stay poolside all day eating AI and then what happens to all the restaurants, cafe and bars etc? Last year on the strip a pint of local was €6 in some places while on average it was €3/4 but let that sink in the same place that used to be €1/2 a pint. I can go to Cala D’Or or Palma and sit at a marina and have a pint for less… For what it’s worth, I have no issues with things being modernised and money being spent bringing the place upto date but it’s the way in which it’s being ‘forced’ (same thing is happening in Ibiza to) Personally I’ve been coming for years, multiple times a year. Last year was rough, during the day the fun and noise etc was non existent you could hardly find a bar open on the strip if you did it was empty. (this was end of June) this year I’ve 3 weeks booked so far, time will tell. I love that little place, made many friends and have family who live there as residents.
Hi Scott, firstly, I have to say, a huge thank you for taking the time to write this. I really appreciate your insights and thoughts here and I would like other people to read it. I think too, especially when you compare it to Arenal, and the clip I forgot to include was the police patrolling when I was filming... like they do in the Summer. Patrolling like trouble could've kicked off at any moment. It was very bizarre. I've had some interesting comments here and on the facebook group and when i get a chance I'll pop them into a website article so others can read it if that's ok... I think it's important that regular visitors can have their say, because so much is said about Magaluf, but nooone ever asks those who come here. Cheers Alex
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun Hi Alex, that is fine about sharing, sorry it was long i could of wrote more but it was already getting way to long for a YT comment! Magaluf to me is like a second home, and i care loads about it and the people who live and work there. Keep up your fantastic videos!
We lived there for 3 1/2 years, the place is impossible to live in on an average wage. Apartments over €1000 a month, working only 6-7 months of the year if you’re lucky. While the strip keeps going the reputation remains. There are still loads of lower/mid range hotels and apartments that offer cheap accommodation for the stag/hens. The hotels upgrading and charging a fortune will price themselves out of the market for the average family. Why pay that when the mainland is cheaper, or even Portugal and Greece. The phrase “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” is applicable here.

Hello, we’re looking to book Magaluf in beginning of April as we’ve heard it’s starting to become more premium. Will places be open? Or recommend coming later in the year?
Seems like rebuilding continue in april, ready may-june
Depends where you stay. But places will start to open up.
New Fergus hotel will continue parties or it will be fully family hotel, or blend of both?
It's supposed to be a new family hotel
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun than i book it 👍
I feel like magaluf is just one tiny road (we called it the strip) there are so many family places elsewhere.
Thank you
We're in Can Pastilla, but happy to travel 30 ish mins
Hi, during January and February up til the end of March, some places that were open before Christmas will close for refurbishments in resorts. I havne't been to CAn Pastill this week at all so can't comment.. However there is plenty open around the island and in Palma. I haven't been back long so I didn't actually go out specifically looking at restaurants when I made this video. There is a great Spanish place next to Benny Hills in Magaluf called the Europe Restaurant serving Spanish food, if it's magaluf you are looking for, but my recommendation would be to go to Palma.
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun ooh, thank you for the tip. We'll head to Palma tomorrow for lunch, then perhaps Magaluf for dinner. X

I would say congrats for getting to talk to them as I’ve had little success !
It looks so empty we are traveling on the February 18 is it gonna be that empty really?
yes!
Missing the old Magaluf, but 🙄
Love going magaluf as a non partying person, its the hotels and bars causeing the issues, large groups of drunk brits causing a mess in the hitels and the hotels do nothing about it
i understand why we all know the negatives of drinkers but they spend a lot of money!!😎
Their liver must be very happy
Chris, that's a very good point!
Booked this for me and family hope its done in 126 days haha😅
LOL, it should be - I'll go back and make updates, don't worry!
I'll come help if it isn't ready haha, also love your channel binged about 3 hours last night, and yes, that would be great. I'm looking forward to it 😊
@@azg2799 oh bless you thank you !! Ps. This is Spain you may have to 😜
It won't work.. I've been in the travel industry 40 years and worked for 3 years in Magaluf as a rep.. image and perception is everything....
Stags & hens parties....oh my goooshhhhhh
Soon they will be an rare sight in the resort (maybe)!
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun i wish, my lovely Alex.....
I can go to Cala D’Or or Palma and sit at a marina and have a pint for less…
For what it’s worth, I have no issues with things being modernised and money being spent bringing the place upto date but it’s the way in which it’s being ‘forced’ (same thing is happening in Ibiza to)
Personally I’ve been coming for years, multiple times a year.
As long has the rif-raf don't move to Santa Ponsa.
It could happen!
