  • The vertical arrangement is a very versatile style which could be recreated using a variety of different shaped containers. Choosing long, linear flowers and foliage will give you the best start to your design, helping to create an elegant shape.
This type of arrangements is often front-facing, so its usually seen from the one side and can be constructed in a variety of sizes. Whether its a simple flat container or a large urn or pedestal, this style of arrangement can be successfully used.
If you are new to arranging, take a few minutes to view my Back to Basics series which will explain how to create a very basic parallel arrangement. using a minimal amount of flowers.

Lovely. Love the way you explained every step of the way. Could you please do videos on how you would make the different styles of bridal bouquets? I could imagine how helpful that would be with your clear instructions. Thank you in advance.

The large chrysanthemum at the bottom draws my eye, but in the design the middle chrysanthemum was pointed out as the focal flower. Not sure why that would be, could you help me understand that.

Hi Susan, many thanks for watching and asking a great question. Earlier in the video I refer to the bottom chrysanthemum as being the most dominant flowers, so therefore the focal flower. When I refer and point to the middle chrysanthemum, I'm referring to the 3 chrysanthemums being the focal flowers or the main dominant group of flowers. So you are correct in thinking the bottom chysanth which ideally would be the larger head is the focal flower placed at the focal/dominant area and hopefully attracts your eye. But the 3 chrysanthemums are also the group of more dominant flowers or as I florist I would refer to it as a focal line. I haven't intentionally singled the middle flower out.
      Hope that helps.
