How to make a Hogarth Curve Flower Arrangement - HOW TO ARRANGE FLOWERS IN FOAM FOR BEGINNERS

  • The Hogarth Curve is an S-shaped line appearing within an object. Nineteenth-century English artist William Hogarth believed that a curved line signifies liveliness and stimulates the attention of the viewer, in contrast with a straight line that signifies stasis.
    These minimal arrangements are some of the most complex floral pieces to make. They are based on the subtle S curve and use a small amount of greenery and flowers.
    Choose your flower materials wisely paying attention to the way the flower and foliage naturally curve. Practise makes perfect, as the saying goes.
    If you are new to arranging, take a few minutes to view my Back to Basics series which will explain how to create a very all round arrangement using a minimal amount of flowers.

  • @marksmith3926

    Beautiful. If you did this design with lisianthus flowers would you just use a single stem with 1 flower head as they tend to have a few flowers on the stem ?

    • @sharondower
      @sharondower  2 роки тому +1

      I think it would depend on how visually heavy the flowers are. You could trim each stem, starting tall and thin with less flowers, then larger flower stems to the focal area

    What do you do with the black container so it doesn't toople over with the weigh of the top,its just beautiful

    • @sharondower
      @sharondower  Рік тому

      This one is quite heavy and as long as the arrangement has foliage at t the back to give it weight it remains stable. You can also add some sand or decorative pebbles to the base to give it extra weight but I've never needed it before.
