Thanks so much for explaining this was very confusing with the A1 license as I didn’t see why I could do just the CBT or the test and theory but I see that the A1 is really worth it.

@@itsnaks5372 hey buddy, be taking lessons, and both mod 1 and 2 same day, but gotta wait to get my theory first, but I really am enjoying the 125 for learning as I go

As an A2 and car license holder I feel like doing the full bike license is more of a chore than anything so I can't be bothered. I don't need a bigger bike since what I use my bike for doesn't need more power and it would only cost more insurance wise. The only benefit I personally see is probably lower insurance if having a full license has any effect on that. Maybe when I have money and will I'll do it but now I'm happy with A2
Eastern Menace I kind of know where you are coming from. ..I've never taken a bike test of any kind. ..only taken cbt. . (Now in my 50s) passed my car test in my 20s and stuck with a 125. .which was good enough for me as I only ride occasionally due to health I then bought a piaggio mp3 500cc leaning trike which I'm entitled to ride on my car licence. ..its also good enough. .i have thought about doing a full bike test but due to the amount of milage (*or lack of) I ask myself is it worth the money and hassle.
Eastern Menace I have to say if I had to take so many tests as they do these days I'd probably be happy with A2, but as I done my bike test when I was 18 back in the 70's I get to ride anything I like which is mad really.
I had the same thoughts being a 125 rider for many years. Passed the theory as a first step and a year went by. One day I forced myself to ring a local school and part ways with 600 quid. Passed mod 1 and 2 first time and couldn't be happier....1 year on I still have not brought a big bike lol. Guess its nice just having the feather in the old cap. Just be prepared to wave goodbye to 600 quid (more if depending on fails) and you won't regret it.

So I'm 19. I have to get my cbt now and immediately apply for a A2 and go do it? I have a Duke 390 but cant ride it as of yet. Please let me know. Thanks
Haunted Gaming yes that’s correct if you haven’t been riding a 125 then you will need a CBT first then a theory test then you can do the A2 as a direct access. Hope that clears things up for you👍
hollywantsacracker Hi to do your CBT you will need a provisional license for a motorcycle, if you’ve passed your car test you will already have this entitlement on that. Hope this helps and good luck.
Would I be able to do the A1 on my own bike without having to be escorted by an instructor? (I've got a lot of experience on the roads so further training won't be needed)

Hi thanks for the video. Im currently 16 on a CBT and getting a 125 next month. If i don’t do the A1 license but then do the A2 when i’m 19 can i still do the A at 21 or do i have to do the A1, A2 and then be able to? (Sorry if i’ve worded that badly its very confusing aha)
Christian Callaghan Music hi thanks for your question, and the answer is if you do your A2 at 19 then ride an A2 bike for two years you can take your A license at 21. Ride safe 👍
Do you recommend riding a 125 and gaining experience before going for the A2 license and getting a 250 cc for example, obviously a 125 first would be better but I feel like I’d out grow the bike rather fast and can’t afford to transition between two bikes too quickly, do you think I could start on a 250 - 390 basically
liam 302 depends how old you really if you're 17 you have ride a 125 for 2 years but if you're 19 you can do a2 licence and can ride up to 47hp, if you're over 24 you can do a DAS course and ride what you like. Hey I'm currently 18 years old and looking to do my CBT soon I was wondering since I'm turning 19 in 9 months should I wait and drive on a 125cc for a bit or go straight to a A2 bike instead of wasting money on both.
Hi that’s a very good question, and there are many answers. I personally would take my CBT and ride a 125 for at least a year to get some experience, then take my A2. That way you can still ride your 125 without L plates while saving for a bigger bike. Whatever you choose to do ride safe.
Is it worth a new rider regardless of age doing cbt getting a 125 for a a year or two then doing direct access just to have a bit of experience ? Or better to just do direct access ?
If I get it right, after you passed your cbt, you don't do direct access. It's Theory, Mod1 and Mod2 for A licence (or A2 if younger? don't know). Direct access is everything combined, cbt theory mod1 mod2 if I get it right. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yakadoodledongywongy it’s entirely up to you, if you want to gain some confidence and experience before going for a bigger bike then yes ride a 125 for a year or so. To be honest if you’re only commuting through town a 125 is plenty. Ride safe
Tugg Speedman Yes I know but here in the UK the government saw an easy way to make themselves so extra money from motorcyclists. Back in the 1970s when I took my test you had to learn on a 250cc then take your test on the same bike and bingo if you passed you could ride what you like. 🤔

@@BikeMates thanks for your reply, I think I am going to wing it my driving lessons are still fresh in my head so I’ll be pretty ok observation wise. If I fail the test then I’ll just retake it. You can take your A1 from the age of 17 as long as you have a CBT. A2 can then be taken at 19 and if you pass that you can then take your A license after two years, or you can wait until your 24 and just do the A license which allows you to ride any bike.
TheUA-camGuy Hi I do filter but never when I'm vlogging because to filter safely you need full concentration on your riding and when you're vlogging you don't have that.

Colin Clarke yes there was talk of that but I haven’t heard a date yet.
It makes sense I guess, madness to have have 16 year olds out there who don't have to demonstrate any knowledge of the Highway Code.
Rob k it's been that way in the Netherlands since the 80s for both car and motorcycle drivers
Sparky Rides it's finally been brought into law but I am not sure when exactly when it comes into force
I'm 16 now and done it Oct 2017 if they do change the law will I have to do a theory?
Hi there, I'm in London, got my driving EU license for 12 years now, and wanna get 125 cc moped, what is the best place to go and do my CBT?
Also, do I need to do anything else , like a1 test or something?
Looks like I don't :))
Andrei Mot hi I don’t live in London so can’t advise you which is the best training school to get your CBT but generally most are good, just don’t go for the cheapest.
If you are only going to want a 125 then take your CBT and you can ride for two years on L plates then if you want you can put in for a motorcycle test. Hope this helps 👍 Ride safe.
Thank you very much!! Also I saw i found some information about DVLA and D1 form , do I need to do any of that? If I only wanna get up to 125cc scooter, Or I can just book CBT test, and that it?
Andrei Mot I’m not sure what your license allows you to ride so I would check with a ridding school before booking your CBT.
@@BikeMates Thank you 🙏
What age can y start doing this
You can take your A1 from the age of 17 as long as you have a CBT.
A2 can then be taken at 19 and if you pass that you can then take your A license after two years, or you can wait until your 24 and just do the A license which allows you to ride any bike.
@@BikeMates thank you very much 🙌
Why won't you filter m8? I filter on a 49cc.
TheUA-camGuy Hi I do filter but never when I'm vlogging because to filter safely you need full concentration on your riding and when you're vlogging you don't have that.
Am 15 but thinking about when i get older
Ok what is your plan?
@@BikeMates Buy a cbr 125 if that's do able
@@BikeMates So what do i need yo ride a 125
Trevor Glenny so I take it you are going to wait till you’re 17 then do your CBT on a 125 👍
@@BikeMates yes
Moving to the uk🙄
I'd rather do it in Germany tbh
m.k you’ll be fine, just make sure you ride on the correct side of the road 😂
I'm 23 ,I have cat B and AM , can I just take the CBT and drive a 125cc in this damn country ? 😩
Yellow Waffle yes that's pretty much it, or you could wait until you're 24 and take a direct access course and ride what you like. What ever route you choose ride safe.
Sparky Rides I would wait but I really need some experience , I never rode a motorcycle and I know it's pretty dangerous ,I'm willing to take my time and learn , thank you for the fast response !
You can do a restricted a2 das thats what im doing at 19
